Shoutout to those headphones, they are quite amazing for the price! I do recommend modding them by putting some cotton inside the earcups (yes, open them and add a bit of cotton, careful with the cables) and some really light foam behind the earpads (in the spot where music comes from). This will make them less muddy and more balanced.
Awesome video. I bought the latest Maonocaster AU-AME2 but I returned and getting this older AU-AM100 instead. This AM100 unit has provided more professional features such as MIC MUTE buttons, dedicate MIC gain control, two XLR inputs. This AM100 is rugged and not too much fancy buttons with lights that so annoying and eats up battery like AME2 do. Hope that a newer AM100 model update to come out soon with better MIC preamp, BLUETOOTH and EQs control.
You mention the internal battery but what about a power supply? Can you bring a cell phone caller in to a podcast with this and will it do mix minus automatically in the phone input TRRS? This is a great deal. The Tascam Mixcast 4 is $380 new and has so much more than this so if you need more than 2 microphones opt for the MIxcast 4. It has an SD card slot and can record. Recording has saved me three times and has paid for this as my wireless company continued to charge me after I switched to Mint Mobile. I recorded the cancellation call, then months later played it back to the collections callers and put them in their place. Thanks for making this man! Having recording capabilities is now a TOP ITEM for any audio interface. Thanks for a great review man!
Great review, compared to the AU-AM100 vs AME2, which one do you think is the best? I do not care about 2 xlr inputs, 1 is enough so that's not an issue. Which one do you think is better between the 2?
Thank you! I just ordered via your link here to Amazon. For some strange reason the Standalone caster is more than buying the entire kit! Didn't notice that until after the fact (MY Fault) that I made the purchase then saw that the Kit was less. Canceled the standalone and ordered the kit. Don't need the mic and stand but hey I'll put it on the shelf, someone else might need it and I'll have it to give. Peace Peace Brother.
Hi! I really loved your video, but I have a question for you. What program are you using to record the audio? I have a MacBook Pro, so I tried to use GarageBand to record audio. GarageBand recognizes the device, but when I speak into the mic, GarageBand doesn't record. How did you get around this issue?
I bought this mixer for $ 57 tonight by ebay from private use. (Looks like new - small used) But for podcasting and some audio only. Not a musician. And for this, it works good. (IMHO) But for $ 200 or $ 250 - even together with a MIC = too expensive. Greetings from sw germany (middle europe) - liked + subscribed.
For well under $200 you can get a Behringer UMC202HD Interface, a Mackie EM-91C Condenser microphone (includes shock mount and XLR cable), and a $20 boom arm. MUCH better sound and without bad auto-tune and silly hard to program sound pads. I got one of these off kickstarter and I regretted it
The BIG problem with most Behringers is that they don't have power off switch and the transformers tend to overheat. I speak from experience. They also look like they're from the last century and they lack of quality (not saying that the maono is a better one). The jingle pads from the moano are really simple to program. I guess a monkey could do this by by coincidence as the process is quite strait forward and 4-5 clicks only (Maonocaster Companion). The autotune is really crap but more a fun feature and thats why it has a very small space on the board. The Mackie EM-91C Condenser is also one of those cheap mass manufactured Chinese microphones. This is only a choice between pest or cholera. Go and get a ProCaster, PodMic or Sure instead of recommending trash. 😃
@@smite5135 We're talking about a comparison between this unit and a built for purpose audio interface. The Midas pre-amps in the Behringer UMC series are quite good and the travel 204 and home 404 lasted for many years powering a variety of Mics including gain heavy SM7B's and Heil PR40s. I eventually switched to a MOTU interface, but per cost, the Behringer interface and Mackie microphone is a step up from this. Also, where do you think the units mentioned here were made?

@@radiorocksolidradiorocksol9112 Poorly implemented design and cheaply made with features that have nothing to do with actually podcasting doesn't make it a good choice. I got one of these off their kickstarter campaign including the microphone and frankly it was garbage. Money down the drain. Auto-tuner? Buttons and knobs dedicated to silly (and also poorly implemented) pitch changes? Why? I DO like the additional inputs, but overall it just isn't worth it with poor and noisy pre-amps and real estate given to effects that aren't part of. what most people use interfaces for in podcasting.
I'm looking to start with a podcast set with potential upgrade path. Let's say i would add a 3rd mic sometime or something like that. Whats your recommendation?
Yo, is this still the product you would recommend or is there something else in the budget market that you would suggest me checking out ? Also, can you tell me how to add L R audio monitors to this set up ? Thank you,
why does nobody say if its plugged into a laptop/pc it makes it where you can hear that pcs audio if music was playing from it or your friend on discord
4th...thanks for sharing this, today. 👍 I know the focus is podcasting, but what is the biggest con to using this for streaming? Limited inputs? Still learning audio. 🤔
@@theTechNotice Thanks. Been looking at GoXLR Mini for a long time but it seems like it should have been replaced by something better by now. 🤔 Guess I will just buy it and be prepared to regret it soon after... LOL. 🤣😭
Hi! Currently using this now for our stream + OBS + MACBOOK. Having some problems with it. I can hear the effects plus the pre recorded sound effect on the buttons loud and clear in my headphone monitors. Problem is, I just discovered that my viewers aren't hearing anything! Can you help with the settings? I've put the sound of the Mac / settings to maonocaster and same with OBS.
Have you encountered an issue when connected to a mac laptop (intel), it works okay in the beginning then after a few minutes the monitoring audio is skipping? Could it be that the one I have is defective? Thanks!
bcoz it worst the dizzy unclean am-200 every noise everywhere disaster when u recording very disturb denoise no help, i think bad amp chip inside there, no phantom its different level grab am-100 for sure
10:20 The software to program the jingle pads is simple and straight forward. I don't know how this can be more simple and it isn't confusing at all. But we are all different people with different skills. 😄 The software is called "Maonocaster Companion" and can be downloaded on the companies website.
Turn on the loop function to record the audio input from the USB-C. If turned off you can still hear it from the monitor output but it will not be recorded.

Can we assign the AUX input to PC and play some Spotify music coming from it ?
Nice video by the way. Interesting product !

This looks it’d be a decent bit of kit, except it has no on board recording! What a shame.
What do I need to connect to my iPad? What connection to usb to iPad?
Weird that they didn't add the possibility to record locally, on an SD card.
That's true :)
That's why you can connect TWO pods to record e.g. a notebook with an SD slot.
Can record the audio straight to my camera so I don’t have to sync it in post editing?
So could you essentially run a 3 mic set if you include Mic2 A and B together ?
My output doesn’t work when I want to recording a podcast on my phone it’s normal ?

Excelent Review👍
Just bought it for my podcast but when I listen to the playback the sounds aren't there. Anyone know what im doing wrong?
I can´t record nothing in garageband if I´m using the maonocaster... I put maonocaster by the voice preferences...
Would there be a way ti make usb mics work with it
it sucks mine doesn't work, no audio out, no audio to any headphones..

I cannot find the au-am100
If I was to conect my phone to use as camera will it record the audio?
MAONOCASTER LITE AM200 - any good?
I would like to record a song using a female pitch control how do I record that?
Is there a 4 mic version? Doesn't do the Rode Podcaster all the same things?
Yeah, Rode Podcaster my do all the same things, but it's double the price 🤯
Little over 3 months and mine has went kaput!
Uuh, you should do all of your tech videos as a radio host. :)
haha :D
Why the Am-200 cost less? In amazon than the Am-100? 🤔

Is there a latency in the headphones, if you monitoring?
Nope.
Bravo!!!
😉
but where can we get soundeffects?
why my monocaster am-1000 can’t detect by Mac M1? Can everyone give me answer? Thanks
ask Maono to upgrade soon
this one only Intel approved
Still haven’t found a single person discussing how they connect this thing to a camera.. all you guys keep doing is talking about features
All reviewers don't say a word about the loopback switch - what is its function? Don't provide any info or any examples!
Turn on the loop function to record the audio input from the USB-C. If turned off you can still hear it from the monitor output but it will not be recorded.
First comment. yeah buooooy
Legend!
those are trash
