Ahhh yes, Nafplio! I took my daughter to Greece a few years ago for her 'Sweet 16' birthday (her first time), in order to meet her relatives and trace her roots, and we briefly stopped by Nafplio. Gorgeous town! I remember the large town square, with the lit castle up on that hill at night, and all the small, quaint streets and 'alleyways' with the many shops and restaurants. Next time, we'll have to hike that incredible path and check out some of the local shorelines/beaches. My kind and very cool cousin from Pagrati, Athens drove us all around southern Greece in his little Citroen. Visited so many great places like Patras, Xylokastro, Nafpaktos, picturesque small mountain villages above Nafpaktos (where my grandparents hail from, on both sides), Dimitsana, Kyllini & Kalogria beaches, to name a few places. We loved it so much, we are returning for a month this summer, this time as a present to her for her high school graduation! Just subbed to your channel!
Kαλημερα Daniel, as an Athenian born but having spent a lot of time in Nafplion I can say that for me, there are no secrets, good or bad, regarding living in Nafplion. You are talking/showing the sunny side of life but what about the dark side (there is) over there!!! You may have done it in another video, I may not have seen!! Nevertheless I love the scenery rond Arvanitia and the path along the seaside to Karathona! Keep up the good work! Καλη δυναμη, υγεια, γερα νευρα ... και καλη επιτυχια στους σκοπους σου! That is life.... win some loose some!
Just found your channel and am so thrilled! I’m a first generation Greek American born and raised in Texas and have only been able to visit Greece a few times so far in my 26 years. Your first video alone depicts so much care and knowledge of the culture. So excited to teach my spouse and baby (otw) Greek and to take them as much as possible to visit family and see all the beauty. Keep up the awesome videos!!
I am born and raised in Eastern Tennessee, USA, I used to love it here, but I would love to be where you are, it's good that you realize how good you have it.

Hello! Ευχαριστώ πολύ! We shall be in Nafplio next week to see whether it could be our home away from home. We are a retired couple from Finland, and when trying to find info about living in Nafplio, stumbled upon your amazing video - as the very first viewers - talk about timing! We really look forward to your upcoming videos. Μαθαίνουμε ελληνικά, αλλά δεν μπορούμε να μιλάμε πολύ καλά ακόμα, μόνο λίγο. Hope to see you in Nafplio in May. Τα λέμε!
It is Honor For Greeks to be visited by Foreigners who not only try to speak Greek but Love Hellas (Greece). Nafplio is a Great place to stay. Close to Athens and in the center of Peloponnisos. You can visit plenty of places. Go to Mycenes, go to ancient theater of Epidavros , go to Ancient Olympia where Olympic Games were Hosted. All these places are within 1 hour driving from Nafplio.
Just found this. I adore Greece and wanted to live there but somehow things didnt go as planned so I am fascinated and overjoyed to watch this. I found people so friendly and kind.
You live in the best region in Greece (Argolida). It has by far the best climate, beaches, history, natural beauty, people. My summer house is there, in Porto Kheli if you've heard.
Hi! I just came across your video tonight, it is very inspiring to see!! It caught my attention because it is a very honest video of yourself and your living conditions. This is refreshing because many foreigners try to sugarcoat their lives in Greece. I lived in Athens in 2021 for 5 months where I did my thesis at a Dutch company. While I lived in Athens I met my Boyfriend Panos. I come from The Netherlands and after just 4 months together he decided to go back with me to The Netherlands for financial purposes and our careers. We spent quite some time here in The Netherlands but decided that it was time for us to move on to another part of our lives: Going back to Greece to build our lives there! We are both way happier in Greece, for some obvious reasons like the weather and family. We are very excited to move back to Athens, Elefsina next October. Luckily we already know how we will be supporting our expenses. It is really helpful to have lived somewhere there for a while, and to have made connections even though at that time you didn't know they were helpful to you in the future.
Love your videos; Keep them coming; I am originally from Olympia Greece. We visit every year, but I do love your vision of living there; and that path you walk on, is spectacular; Great place to run, walk, meditate and swim. thanks for sharing
Kalimera Daniel! Been looking for a channel just like yours few weeks ago. Yours did not exist yet and I couldn't find anything that would draw me in and simply thought there wasn't one. And just like that I stumbled upon your channel today! Subscribed and ready for a ride! Happy Sunday!

Hi Daniel 👋 excited to see your content about living in Greece. I consider visiting or perhaps even moving to Greece at some point, so seeing how is the living there from the expat perspective will be definitely helpful 🙌
That’s great! Let me know if you have any questions or need any help. I could make a video about it. Thanks again for watching my video and for your comment 🇬🇷

Greetings from Thessaloniki! I am glad you love Greece! I visited 2 times Nafplio a long time ago. The first with High scool for 3 days and the second time I lived there for 4 months as a soldier. I had some good time then and would like to visit it one day in the future on my holidays! I went to Palamidi on foot from the 1000 stairs.Great time! Have a nice stay here in Greece.
And subscribed! I'm Australian but come from Greek heritage. Thankfully, I speak the language fluently but I've only ever visited there twice in the past for a short time. I can't wait to go back there and spend more time in the country and the islands. When I do go there, I feel 'at home' but also feel like a stranger too. Maybe like an expat? I look forward to learning more about life there.
Thank you so much for sharing a bit about yourself 🇬🇷More videos are on the way. You can also follow me on Instagram where I share everyday life vlogs about Greece: instagram.com/danielcarrizalez
great that you created the channel about Greece! the views are stunning indeed, interesting that reminds a bit of Canadian seascapes with mountains, only the sea is more beautiful :). Make a video about weather and climate in Greece and comparing different places :)
Was on vacation in Santorini’s, Paros, Mykonos and Athens……..I would prefer Paros of the 3 islands. Maybe it’s because we came from the hustle and bustle of Santorini !! I have visited many countries, and I would go back to Greece in a heartbeat. Any other island recommendations? As I have mentioned, I’ve been to Santorini, Paros and Mykonos 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Nice video... radiating sincerity. I'm at a similar (if older) stage in my life and navigating online various small communities in various countries, mostly as recreation, but daring to hope for a match to trigger an actual move. Already, I live in one such on the west coast Canada, so there is not much incentive to leave, but hey, life is short enough and such an experience would be a lovely way to embellish an already good life. Good luck with your video blog.
Kalimera se olous ! Nafplio is so, so, so beautiful. GrandPa was from Laconia and we always stopped in Nafplio and Tolo (I even lived my first months of life there) before to go further in Peloponnese with Babas, long road from Paris. Remind me of all these pictures in my head with mind-blowing views. Peloponnese is really underrated. BTW, your accent is perfect, even your look is Greek 😁🇬🇷
Hello Daniel! Greetings from sunny and very beautiful Nafplio! The Easter has been amazing, but now we wonder whether there is any tavern or restaurant or such where it would be possible to follow the Eurovision Song Contest this week?
Another question! Is there a common pool or a hotel pool etc where anyone can go swimming and have their own swimming matress with them? I know in some places it is possible, because we have done it earlier elsewhere in Greece, but is it possible somewhere in Nafplio?
@@MyGreekLifestyle καλησπέρα , thank you for your response, we love Peloponisos and we love to find a good place to live but we don’t know where , we would appreciate information about rents and is healthcare good, how far do you have to travel for good hospitals etc. and the cost of living there , shopping for local food , and how safe it is to live there. Sorry I’m asking for a lot but because you live there for long and you have a family you probably have knowledge of all of these. Thank you again very much for your response .
The Dodecanese have a big number of people from all over Europe, the people there are very good (except for Kos) and also many Christians go there duo to religious reasons being super holy places (Panormitis in Simi island and St. Sawas in Kalymnos). Also Ellas as a whole has very good culture and very deep traditions.
Hi Daniel. I'm an American composer/writer and retiring professor currently working/living in Okinawa, Japan. In June 2025, we will be moving to Spain for 2 -3 years so that my wife (Filipina) can acquire citizenship there and get her EU card. I have thought seriously about moving to Greece after we get the EU residency squared away. The life you are living is the life we want. My only concern about small town Greece is medical care and language. We are studying Spanish now, so we'll see. But looking forward to seeing more of your channel.
I lived in Greece as a child when my dad was stationed at the Air Force Base in Athens. I love Napflio and have been back many times. Hoping to figure out how to move to that area or around Kalamata in the future. How do you find a local real estate agent? Is it better to buy a home or just find a rental first? Thank you for the inspiring videos!
Daniel, best of luck on your new channel. My British fiancée has been to Greece a few times and tells me this is my future home. I live in US and can't wait to retire in two years. Greece is most definitely on my short list. I'm the type that would love to integrate into a small/medium size community. How was it for you and how long did it take to be accepted even as a foreigner? The language barrier is something I definitely need to work on. Any advice? Looking forward to your videos.
Great question. Being accepted as a foreigner was certainly a goal for me. Greeks are very welcoming and warm people. I will make a video about this topic because I believe that is an important topic for many who want to move to Greece and integrate into the community.
How did you learn to speak Greek? I’m 45 and I moved here last year. I’m Greek American but never learned the language because I never dreamed I would move here! I should also start a RUclips channel 😄😄
No doubt there are so many benefits to living in a wonderful place like Nafplio, which I visited a few years ago with my parents. As is true in so much of Greece, the scenery, both natural and man-made, is spectacular. As an American of Greek descent myself, please allow me to pose a question. You mention you have kids, and when we were in Nafplio we took a bike tour led a lovely tall, very athletic Dutch woman - I am sure you know her - who mentioned she has 2 children, is married to a Greek, has lived in Nafplion for years. She, too, loved it, but I seem to recall some ...reservations? worries? ... not sure how to put it, about the "opportunities" available to a kid raised in Nafplio versus, say, Amsterdam (or Houston, in your life story). Would you say there are any "drawbacks" to your life there or are you pleased with pretty much all aspects? Euxaristw polu! Great channel.
Welcome to Greece. Or Better as we are saying. HELLAS. You have Mycanes in 10 minutes with the car. Who can live that?? Enjoy your stay and i hope your kids to love Hellas as you do.
Καλημέρα...I am a Greek who lives in Thessaloniki ... I like your thinking and I follow you .. I don't know if you have learned to read in Greek about it and write in English .. I don't know much English and write to you through the google...
I've been thinking about retiring to Crete, and although I've done a lot of research about Crete and Greek residency requirements, I just minutes ago learned that you cannot flush toilet paper down the toilets there. So here's my question, can I have a septic system installed on my property there?
Aloha Daniel! Great content. I’m exploring relocating to Greece as a DN late summer. I’ve lived in Hawaii for a long time and I’m ready for a change, but not so drastic that I lose the Sun and the ocean! I’m looking for a location that is quiet, walkable has a great community, dog friendly as I’m traveling with him. I’m an empty nester! Yay lol I truly feel drawn to Greece! Do you have some suggestions of places I may look into? Much Mahalos!
Nafplio is the place! In fact someone I know just moved here with his dog for that reason “walkable, great community and dog friendly.” I can also recommend a great vet whom I have for my cats! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
Wherever you choose to live, the whole of Greece is a collection of small paradises. Both the people and the environment are something magical...Any deficiencies or wrong things, we the residents have to fix them.
I said “παιδιά” the exact translation is “kids”, but in Greek it’s also use like this: friends, guys, and in this case “everyone”. But I could have translated to “Good Morning friends” Hope this helps, and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions 🇬🇷
@@MyGreekLifestyle this helps a lot. Its very easy to get lost in direct translation learning a new language. Learning how you guys use certain words outside of its specific meaning helps me feel out the culture 👌
@mygreeklifestyle would really love to know how you managed your kid's language.. assuming both parents didnt speak Greek and later the kid goes to a greek school..is the kid tri-language?
Thank you for the insight. As a British passport holder I have no right of residency in Greece beyond the basic 12 weeks in any quarter even if I were to own a property in Greece, I couldn't live there. I assume that, being married to a Greek national gives you the right to stay.
I want to clarify that I moved to Greece in 2010 and I have been living here ever since as a British passport holder. I relocated here before Brexit and I have resided here long enough to have a permanent residence permit in Greece, without relying on the fact that I am married to a Greek citizen. Most of my British friends who live here are in a similar situation. They all moved before Brexit.

Good luck with your video blog.
Thanks for sharing!
the first capitol city was aigina for two years then nafplio then athens
Your videos are reminder that life is good
Thank you so much. This is by far one of the nicest comments I have ever had 😀
@@MyGreekLifestyle I felt it needed to be said
I love it! Now, that is Easter, don t miss drinking "cacao" (like ion) and dipping "koulourakia" in.
Thank you 😊
I wish I could move there. Been going to Naxos since 1990
thank you for sharing your experience in Greece with us!!
Thank you my friend 🇬🇷🧿🙏💙
Kalimera se olous ! Nafplio is so, so, so beautiful. GrandPa was from Laconia and we always stopped in Nafplio and Tolo (I even lived my first months of life there) before to go further in Peloponnese with Babas, long road from Paris. Remind me of all these pictures in my head with mind-blowing views. Peloponnese is really underrated.
BTW, your accent is perfect, even your look is Greek 😁🇬🇷
Thanks for sharing 🇬🇷💙
Hello Daniel! Greetings from sunny and very beautiful Nafplio! The Easter has been amazing, but now we wonder whether there is any tavern or restaurant or such where it would be possible to follow the Eurovision Song Contest this week?
Another question! Is there a common pool or a hotel pool etc where anyone can go swimming and have their own swimming matress with them? I know in some places it is possible, because we have done it earlier elsewhere in Greece, but is it possible somewhere in Nafplio?
Wow good question.
Please make more videos and more information , thank you for these videos
Thank you. Let me know what videos would you like me to make. Is there anything you want to learn or know before relocating to Greece 🇬🇷
Thanks for sharing my friend 🙏
Why except for Kos? 😅😅😅
@@angeliki88gr Cause people there typically suck
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Here is my email: thatgreeklife@gmail.com
Greece is like a South American cousin, that somehow ended up in Europe... we are very similar 💙
Love the way you put it🇬🇷💙
Daniel, best of luck on your new channel.
Καλιμερα πεδια - am i spelling his greeting correctly? Great channel.
I'll make a video about this! Thanks for your question!
Thanks for the nice videos. Quick one: Have you seen windsurfers around Nafplio? Thx
When it's windy yes. Not a lot, but, I have seen them in Karathona beach.
Welcome to Greece. Or Better as we are saying. HELLAS. You have Mycanes in 10 minutes with the car. Who can live that?? Enjoy your stay and i hope your kids to love Hellas as you do.
A correction; Nafplion was not the first capital of Greece. It was Aigina. Even Greeks make this mistake.
That is true. But there is a massive sign that says otherwise as you drive into Nafplio.
I can’t get this song from a Greek hotel lobby out of my head. It’s Please Don’t Leave Me, by Pretty Maids
Thank you for sharing 🇬🇷🧿💙
Γεια σου κουμπάρε!😊
Hola puedes hacer un video en español de grecia y como es viver allá para me mama

Thank you 🇬🇷💙🙏🧿
What kind of equipment do you use? Did you start with a cell phone and then slowly upgrade? What kind of microphone? Na se kala! Thanks!
How was living in Eleufsina like. How is the city ?
It was good, buy it is not like Nafplio. I'll make a video about it
You are awesome
Thank you 💙🙏
Newly subscribed to your channel hello grom Japan
Wow, thank you so much my friend. I want to go to Japan one day and visit 🇯🇵
Καλημέρα...I am a Greek who lives in Thessaloniki ... I like your thinking and I follow you .. I don't know if you have learned to read in Greek about it and write in English .. I don't know much English and write to you through the google...
Για σου φίλε μου, μπορείς να γράφεις στα Ελληνικά … μπορώ να διαβάσω απλά ακόμα δεν μπορώ να γράψω τέλεια ελληνικά 😁
good
Thanks
I've been thinking about retiring to Crete, and although I've done a lot of research about Crete and Greek residency requirements, I just minutes ago learned that you cannot flush toilet paper down the toilets there. So here's my question, can I have a septic system installed on my property there?
Good question. I guess you have to ask someone who is qualified for that
Hi Daniel, looking to visit this summer with my wife. Can you recommend short term rentals?
Aloha Daniel!
Great content.
I’m exploring relocating to Greece as a DN late summer. I’ve lived in Hawaii for a long time and I’m ready for a change, but not so drastic that I lose the Sun and the ocean!
I’m looking for a location that is quiet, walkable has a great community, dog friendly as I’m traveling with him.
I’m an empty nester! Yay lol
I truly feel drawn to Greece!
Im currently learning greek. How did you say “everyone” at the beginning of the video? I cant seem to find a translation that matches your tone
👍👍👍👍🙏🙏😃
How are taxes there?
@mygreeklifestyle would really love to know how you managed your kid's language.. assuming both parents didnt speak Greek and later the kid goes to a greek school..is the kid tri-language?
Both my kids speak Greek and English. I teaching them Spanish now.
Εισαι ωραιος!!!
U can get a visa, there are a few different avenues u can take, we are currently in the process now
Ωραίος!
My dream is to build a sea view home on Create.
Sounds like an amazing dream my friend! All the best to you and your dreams🇬🇷
