Yes, but the other way around. TXR0 would have the same engine, graphics and handling system from WM PS2 and they both came out in 2001, only difference is that it features WM characters, the HUD is different and the cars are licensed. And a little fun fact, many of the sound effects from WM PS2/WMR and TXR0 are still used in WMMT today. edit: honestly fascinating that this game came out a month before TXR0.

Wangan Midnight R was the arcade port for Wangan Midnight PS2. And yes, this game would eventually evolve into Namco’s WMMT series today.
