Enjoying the videos, can I ask prior to making contact with the ball I was advised to look at the target, i.e., the sideboard. What are your thoughts?

No issue to look where your taget is before you hit the ball. Important to make sure you're aiming at the final destination :-)

Could you please explain the correct way to do the backswing, because when I started to play hockey ( quite a long time ago) I didn’t learn the fore hand shot in the correct way. I use a lot of wrist motion instead of using the whole body and therefore I think I loose a lot of speed and accuracy. I find it really hard to overwrite my muscle memory and think that the main cause in the backswing

Hi Otrey, It's important to swing around the body like a pendulum, and not to much up and down movement. Avoiding much up and down movement is really important, think a lumberjack chopping down a tree.
A good way to practice is to try hitting the ball on your knees, almost praying infront of the ball. This will keep the plane of the stick swing flat
