So she was a (metaphorical, but physical in the film) monster all along, successfully hiding for a long time until cracks started to show. She didn’t like how they looked (made her feel) so she started trying to cover them up with something people would consider beautiful (flowers) until eventually she had to reveal her true form? Idk if any of that made sense, I’m stoned. If anyone can decipher what the hell I just tried to write then good on ya. I hate knowing what you mean but finding it so hard then once you try to put it into written words
Okay for all those people down in the comments saying that they didn't get the message of this short horror flick, here is my interpretation, so don't go harsh on me in case if it sounds off putting. The woman shown in this short, had a dark past, she had done many terrible things, which span all the way back to her childhood days some of which she confessed to her date, but things are not that simple as it seems, for the most part she was burdened by this guilt feeling that was eating her inside out. All these misdeeds of hers, made her a sick individual, rotten from inside, sick to the head, that's why she doesn't regret doing what she did. All these factors cumulatively made her a more like a crippling monster ready to unleash her suppressed negativity and guilt out to this world, which eventually happens at the end, where we see all the petals symbolizing all the negative traits of us which sick individuals flaunt, and commit more atrocious acts, justifying all the way, rather than taking accountability for the actions. The more you descend into doing sinful acts, the more you go unhinged, detached from reality.
The last two commenters are LITERALLY making the film’s point. As a society, the more we accept horrible behavior the more we normalize it. Then we think “if that’s OK” or “well I got away with that” and we take it a step further. It doesn’t matter what frame you put it in - ageism, classism, crime, misogyny, racism, sexism - the way both historical and modern American society deals with them has been akin to the progression of a serial killer.
@@SavageoftheRedSand The entire world doesn't revolve around America and Americans, my guy. The problems you enlisted are just universal and transcend borders. There is a solution to each problem, depending on how you approach it. Will you be honest to yourself and acknowledge that it was your fault? Or brush it under the rug, saying it's normal. Your thoughts and actions give a reflection of your inner true self.
Wonderful. The Posie lady gave a marvellous performance and the SFX team made that finger under the leg skin look fantastic. Gross, and beautiful. Congratulations to all involved.
6:41 I felt that… I have felt that. The people who make light of it and tell you “you’re overreacting,” you need to “relax” and “it’ll pass”or whatever, are the same people who never had to think about and have the least to lose, if anything. They don’t get it, they never will... 9:34 …until it directly affects or hurts them somehow. 🌸 I think the flowers are a metaphor for (Botox, cosmetic surgery, anti-aging serums) the crazy, sometimes ridiculous and fleeting things we do to appear normal in the world, keep the inner monster at bay and that we have it together… but our facade is just that and one day we’ll “come undone.”
I feel like this is a metaphor for deteriorating mental health, caused by the strain of the current state of the world and life in general We try to keep it together but cracks begin to form, cracks not often accepted by people around us so we try to fill up the cracks or hide them with nice pretty things like flowers, to pretend everything is ok We get so damaged over time and do things out of our normal behaviours, we start seeing ourselves as monsters
Posies is a powerful metaphor about our attempts to hide or control the parts of ourselves we fear others will reject. The flowers under the skin symbolize the lengths we go to in order to appear ‘normal’ or acceptable in the face of internal transformation. It’s not just a story about becoming a monster-it’s about the fear of change and the desperate, often painful, ways we try to mask it. For anyone who doesn’t get it: the horror here isn’t just in the physical transformation, but in the emotional toll of pretending everything is okay.
This short is depressing and beautiful at the same time! Her struggle is EVERYONE'S struggle! Wanting to resist giving in to the degradation of society while simultaneously wanting to become a monster so that you can adapt to it! Torn between loving yourself for having the fortitude to give in to your animalistic, primal, carnal desires and feeling empowered...but then feeling disgusted because you didn't follow a "moral, righteous, human path"! Wanting to cry out for sympathy and pity while simultaneously not wanting to do so that because it'll make you resent yourself for feeling needy, whiney, petulant, insufferable and weak! Forever torn between wanting to be human and understood, but wanting to be antisocial so that you can't be hurt again! Wanting to be an animal, but a decent human being at the same time! The struggle is REAL! Hopefully this didn't sound to whiney and melodramatic, but I don't care and you can cry me a river! Sorry, but not sorry! 😇😁😭😔😖😡🤬😈😜😁
Fantastic short! Absolutely fantastic! Well written, well directed, w 1:42 ell acted! I nearly jumped out of bed at the end! This is by far one of the best film shorts I have seen on RUclips!!! This one gets a solid 10 out of 10!!! I loved it!
Just wanted to say, love the video and how it ended. Wasn't what i was expecting, when thinking of something devolving or going backwards in evolution, so the lead up to the end was a shock. Loved the special effects that were used as well. ❤
Man oh man😢 😊beautiful just magnificent 👏🏾 👏🏾 like all dat that she said I must have said that in my head a hundred times. Like what if everything I did wrong in the past bites me in the future… I love this. I didn’t think she was gonna eat the guy…
Honestly I feel that the timing of this video is quite ironic considering that it really does feel like society is devolving, what with the war in Israel and the upcoming presidential election
I've watched this 4 times, clearly listened to the banter on the TV between the man and woman, looked up the meaning of yellow rose petals (friendship and joy don't make sense for the ending or her confessions) and I'm still confused. The only thing I can come up with is something about the de-evolution of women, how women were/are looked at as delicate flowers (a girl losing her virginity is called "de-flowering" and how society views women as objects and not real people. I could be wrong but that's the only thing that makes sense. Oh and her turning into a hideous flower monster thing before making love to her ex.
This took damaged goods and Wale's song "Bad" beautifully created into a story which crosses the boundaries of those who fall in love while ignoring the red flags and those who just see you're love as a stepping stone. Some people like that think they dont deserve love and push people away because of that . Just too damaged for anyone 😢 Maddys eyes are stunning its just really sad .
11:00 no... NO!!! do not lean on the wall!!! she cheated... the hell dude -...- aaaargh 12:38 no your not!!! XD I totally forgot this was a horror short and it scared the bejayzas out of me
The ending of your film was truly shocking, I didn’t see it coming! I also use surprise endings in my short films like 'Coming From The Room' and 'Unknown'. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you watch them.
@@RPRosen-ki2fk I have a photographic memory, and I remember everything I've seen.Especially when it comes to horror,lol.Not trying to be mean,just disagreeing that it's a new premiere🙃😆
Once again I can’t ‘see’ what is going on. It’s night, OK, but does it have to be SO dark?? I didn’t enjoy the film, I didn’t understand it, she’s stuffed with dead rose petals 🥀 but no back story as to why. ALTER you’ve put out some amazing content, but unfortunately this was not one of them.
Says you. What films have you created?? None? That’s right. I think this one was great not all of them are going to resonate with certain people. It’s horror, it’s supposed to be dark it sets the mood maybe try turning up your brightness instead of leaving nasty comments on a project people worked hard on. ❤❤

But also woah, my dude, if I found out my partner of 2 years banged like half our mutual friends I would NOT have been as kind 🥲😂
im stoned too and this makes absolute sense!
damn I'm stoned too and that made perfect sense dawg 👌
Hey I'm NOT STONED and it makes perfect sense to me too ... GREAT interpretation.
I understood exactly what you were conveying and I concur.

I’d like this explanation if she didn’t say it was society breaking down. Just be she’s a pos human, doesn’t mean everyone is.

Agreed. I usually hate body horror, but it wasn’t overdone or blatantly gross, it was just enough to get the point across.

Which was unnecessary because the point of this short's horror had already been made

I loved the vibe of when she was walking to the bar to meet him.
I seen this when it originally came out, though I am certain the original title didn’t include the score being written or performed by Chappell Roan.
Dude this was amazing the ending was astonishing
Não dá pra conter o monstro da culpa por muito tempo. Ele sempre emerge. Foi o que entendi.

I liked it. Production values are top notch. I see it as a subtle exposition of society. Bravo!

Films shot in the dark cannot hold my attention 😢
Initially, I thought she was giving herself her flowers literally. Then the pedals started to peel back as the real her started to show.
I love this I just wish it was a little brighter so I could see what was going on better
I feel like the design of the monster could be cooler too tbh
Okay someone explain please 😂😂😂otherwise that's was good🎉
Just because you are beautiful on the outside doesn’t necessarily make you beautiful on the inside
Is this a reupload? I’m sure I’ve seen this short before!
Lucky for the subtitles…low sound. 😮
She's from Titans
I can barely see anything going on in this, also I'm pretty sure this was already uploaded multiple times. Seems very familiar.

I am so confused 😂 I guess
Well this is disturbing.
I was more turned on than scared ALTER san
At 1st sight she looks like a south African actress on the thumbnail
Way scary! 🎃Happy Halloween! 💯💫👍!
I like the light
the ending jump scare honestly kind of ruins it for me. completely unnecessary
Déja vu.

Again an old one 😔
👍🏾
I know it's messed up and all but all I could think of is how amazingly thin she looks. Yeah that's my truth!
Atrocious acting.. zero chemistry between these two. But I love the concept!
Not a fan 😢
love alter but this one has literally nothing but great fx, photography and sets. Great in that aspect but dislike.
😅 not everyone does these things and there is somebody watching it's called God so yeah be your best as much as you can and you'll be just fine🙏
