Companies aren't taking game preservation seriously at all. All they think is "kirby fighters on pc bad" and they don't consider the fact that there's no legal way to obtain the game anymore.

i think they just want you buying 70$ broken games not realizing there's a whole golden era of games out there through emulation i mean hell the consoles they make now can emulate the old hardware no problem what so ever and they could resell games for 30$ or under but nah screw that we need the last of us part one 5 more times to be "remastered"

My suggestion is to just keep your personal emulator and ROM repositories updated. You never know when Nintendo is going to wake up one day and suddenly decide that all of emulation is illegal (in their eyes) and take down several websites.

If Nintendo doesn't want people using Citra they should oh I dunno put the 3ds back in production again. I am not paying some nobody on eBay to get a new 3ds since my current one is broken. The fact they're literally taking down online servers for the 3ds and wiiu while doing this just shows how anti consumer Big N is as a company.

There's not much to worry about. Nintendo pretty much only went after them because of their Patreon. Making an emulator is one thing, having a Patreon to collect money from it is a whole other thing (a dumb thing at that) not to mention you cut off the head of a hydra and 5 more will spawn in its place. I will say though, it's quite hypocritical of Nintendo to do this when they use community made roms for their digital titles.

Funny, Nintendo's real "cool" with Nintendo 64, but when it comes to Nintendo DS & 3DS AND Nintendo Switch they just want to pound anyone they find into the ground with a "legal" ban hammer. This why we have disclaimers in the first place saying "We do not encourage. We are not responsible for any decisions (or mistakes) you make with our emulator." But I'm beginning to think this is becoming ineffective in certain areas now

If you're playing on the Wii you're playing on one of the Home console systems why not just use a capture card I know they are expensive sometimes but they work

Because emulation improves quality and its much easier to record. Normally I would play the games on actual hardware though.

While I will certainly never advocate for piracy, I don't believe that emulators encourage piracy. I have consoles that are now dead which I can't play the games for those consoles unless I emulate. I don't give one shit for them attempting to require me to use only the hardware that the games were intended for, especially as I can no longer buy the hardware. In fact, I don't care if it's a modern console that you can still buy the hardware for. Once you've bought the game, it's yours to do with as you please with the only caveat that you don't distribute copies. Any other attempt to restrict how I use a game I consider antithetical to reason and our copyright laws need to be rewritten.

Not at all a rubbish video, I learned something new from you this morning (it is 4:05 AM here in London). My good sir, you informed this old English-Italian Doctor about Nintendo suing emulators for piracy. For shame!!!
In all seriousness, piracy has its place in our niche nostalgic community-especially [with] a love for these classic games we cherish so; however, as I am certain you know, piracy is heralded as blatant theft - piracy threatens maritime security and the legitimate uses of the seas for peaceful purposes and the freedom of navigation. Furthermore, it does not give cheeky buggers the right to copy it, share it, trade it, let others download it and/or profit off of it for themselves (e.g., buying a movie and then charging people to come see it). Copying software or digital content without permission of the content creator is theft. Bloody hell! Don’t you just detest legal jargon?! Piss off, will you, Nintendo!
Oh! My word! I do apologise, dear boy. I did not mean to put you through that verbose rigmarole; the last thing I wish to be is indelicately patronising. I just wanted to share my thoughts was all!
I did enjoy the video! It made me laugh, put a smile on my old, haggard face. I kissed my darling wife goodbye, grabbed me tea and a biscuit (what you Americans would call a cookie), sat in my car, and drove to work. Yes, I complained about coming into hospital so early in the morning, which left me with a grumpy scowl. Thankfully, I was notified of your video, and poof - I am laughing! Lovely!
    Grazie mille!🙏👏👍
    Arrivederci, 👋

Hold up 1st switch emulation should be happening.switch is a current gen system.ANYTHING CURRENT GEN SHOULDNT BE EMULATED.and don’t beg me wrong I’m all for emulation retro .things that are to find or not made anymore emulate it.fair game no one is making money off that anymore.but anything current gen is that companies are still making money off of is straight wrong.stop being cheap and just buy the damn system.being pirating current generation your actually robbing development teams who are making the games we love.what will we do when those teams are force to shut down because a game that would suppose to make money doesnt and they can’t pay employees so they are forced to closed.SUPPORT CURRENT GEN SYSTEMS BY BUYING WHAT U LOVE TO PLAY

  • @camharkness

Wasnt the reason nintendo went at them because they were making money off the emulator?
Also, i will say, majority of people who scream about game preservation doesnt actually care. Legit, I've seen the same people screaming about game preservation complain that mgs 1 in the metal gear solid collection is the ps1 version of the game and not a full blown remake.
