I decided to make a creative art planner. I listed pages of what supplies I have, including books, as well as topics, such as drawing parts of the face, that I want to use this year and beyond. For some, I will make a video, but for others I won't. I just want to be able to be creative daily. It's working so far!😸💖

I gave my daughter a sketchbook for Christmas- she did not want it because it was the wrong paper - I bought her another but kept the first one. At 60, I am going to start my own sketchbook. I had an idea book in the past and recently found it and it actually gave me the incentive to do something creative with my spare moments. I am a full time photographer, so I am constantly creating but usually under pressure or under a deadline - so this year, I am cutting out the TV. Writing, sketching and shooting photos and videos that I want to shoot.
What a beautiful video! And what a great bird! You caught me off guard with the last question: While putting together my "best of" images from 2023 as a sort of picture book for friends and family for Christmas, I've noticed that I'm taking my art more and more seriously as I get more skilled. I play around with each new artistic process at first, which absolutely delights me and produces quite a lot of nonsense and some quite delightful, downright cute results. But as soon as I'm familiar with the material, with the technique, the seriousness and heaviness come back. As an adult, confident craftswoman (does this word exist?), I seem to subconsciously forbid myself anything playful and childish. Why is that? Life is too short to take myself too seriously. So my wish for 2024 is that I can (once again?) welcome more playfulness and lightness into my art. ❤
I would like to wish for more mural work in 2024 but I’m recovering from major shoulder surgery and realize that what I should be wishing for are more smaller projects while I heal and work on range of motion along with strength. Things like custom footwear commissions, or even being selected to calls for smaller public art like bike racks, sewer drain murals, or painted windows until I can tackle big walls again. ❤❤❤

Thank you so much for these questions, Jess. I’ve been in a real mental loop regarding my art and have felt extremely deflated. I’m a tattoo artist, but I find that creative process easier because I’m being given design inspiration by a client so it serves as a starting point. I find this incredibly difficult to do for myself as my brain over thinks every aspect. My goal this year is to fill up my first EVER sketchbook. I’ve been to college, uni, I’ve made art for my entire life, and the last sketchbook I filled em must have been when I was between 6-12. I have 5 unused sketchbooks because it terrifies me to start. That is my intention this year. ❤

I discovered the fun and creativity of collage work in 2023. I'd like to expand on that this year and add painting/drawing embellishments to the collage pieces. Maybe some creative framing, too! I'd really like to practice drawing more, especially figure drawing. I also want to exercise more so I can be healthier and have more energy for creating! I already purchased a punching bag and pickleball set, LOL.

Last year I finally decided to take my art to a new medium... Skin! Ive been learning tattoos and in turn it has already taken my art to a new level and has made me pick up the pencil more often and create something. My goal for this year is to finish more projects that i have started, do way more pencil drawing and more painting, and turn that into some beautiful tattoos😎👍
I put the names of all my random supplies that I rarely use on scraps of paper in a jar. I can pull one, or more, and challenge myself to use it in a fun and creative way. Trying for low spend this year and want to make use of the things I have, especially the supplies I've been neglecting. Anyone know of some good RUclips channels that showcase what people used from their stash each month? Would love this idea to gain momentum over haul videos that focus on buying more stuff.

Last year I finished my very first watercolour sketchbook, but for this year I want to get better at using acrylics and paint that gigantic canvas I bought last year for the wall over our closets in the living room. I want to practise a lot, so I can paint a really nice acrylic painting ❤

What type of tape are you using? I haven’t found one that doesn’t peel up the watercolor paper when removing it.
Thanks! This is actually just white washy tape
Heat it up with a hair dryer or heat tool. It loosens the glue of the tape a bit and it makes it easy to remove it without damaging the paper!
