I'm on a similar page to you - couldn't be bothered playing through BG1 and 2 (or other games using the same engine) because I just despise pause'n'play combat, but seeing Larian build upon what they did in D:OS2 made me quite excited to play BG3.
BRRRRROTHER I don't know why so many people lionize ATwP, I get having it as an option if you are just mowing through enemies, but as the only mode of gameplay? Eugh
I had to move to the university dorm recently with 3 other people constantly hanging out in my room, which made my coop playthrough slow down drastically(as well as any voice-call-related activity sadly), so I was still unable to finish act 3, since this game is so massive. And when I see leaks about how act 3 was probably supposed to be twice larger, I just fucking lose my mind. I consider replaying the game with 3rd person camera mode for exploration, sounds like a great way to make the game even more immersive, but having Phantom Liberty releasing soon, idk if I have time for that. Knowing Larian, I expect them to release an enhanced version of the game in 1-2 years, making an already amazing game even better.
From what I've seen, playing with a controller locks the camera into 3rd person, and the game looks way different that way. And yeah, I have high hopes for 2024/25 when Larian goes out and says "Okay, the game is even better now, we're starting something new, kthxbai"
The most disappointing side of the BG3 for me is a rudimental coop mode. I was hoping for a something inspired by tabletop coop experience where players have a group adventure together as partners, but alas - at its core Baldur's Gate 3 is strictly single-player game where coop partners basically play two single-player playthroughs together with almost no interaction or intersection between each other apart from the combat. Overall, it is excellent but very buggy and somewhat unfinished game which crumbles under it's own scale and ambition. I'd prefer act 3 to be much smaller if that would help all stories and characters to be flashed out and finished properly.
Dragons can crossbreed with anything and I don't think anyone is going to bat for them being genetically related to all life. Besides, pretty much all of them were made from whole cloth by different gods, at least in FR.
They mention Zariel a lot because she's the villain of the campaign book. Also, Baldurs Gate sort of retroactively invalidates your campaign if you tried to get any kind of "good ending" in the campaign book.
Havent played the game yet myself (and perfer to play blind), but i'll leave the vid on mute so i can give the view and come back once i beat the game.

I'm old enough to have played them when they were released and fucking loved them. Not sure i'd touch them now. Bioware hit their peak with KOTOR.

Yeah, the coop is a letdown, especially compared to DOS2. It's pretty saddening.
