Electric Light Orchestra - Beatles Forever [Audio Restoration]

- What can be said? ELO's unreleased track Beatles Forever has garnered significant attention among both casual and hardcore fans. The song has been bootlegged in many formats, ranging from audience recordings to low-quality CD transfers. However, this is an all-new source with upgraded quality, offering a significant difference over any other widely-available format.
We also created an "alternate timeline" promotional poster. In an interview with Hit Parader in 1983, Kelly Groucutt went on the record to say that Beatles Forever "is going to be a big hit single" and "is one of those songs that you know is going to be a smash while you're working on it." In recognition of what could have been, we've uploaded this poster and some variants of it for your own use: mega.nz/folder...
The restoration process of this track was far easier than previous efforts we’ve been a part of because the original file for this recording had a bitrate of 128kbps - a new record for this track! We were able to increase that frequency shelf up to something that is technically lossless, but a pure CD rip would sound even better than this.

FINALLY!!! I freaking LOVE this song. As we all know, Jeff Lynne's music was heavily inspired by the Beatles :)
John Lennon dubbed The Electric Light Orchestra the "Sons of Beatles".
This song actually gets better with time. Sure, the first time (or times) you hear it, the song's lyrical fawning over the lads from Liverpool is a bit cringe-inducing. But I dunno, now that Jeff's in his mid-70s, is securely in the RnR HOF, got his Star in the HWood WOF, and is almost universally regarded by his industry peers and fans alike as a musical genius, the song takes on a bit of a charm, a quaintness. Look, it ain't goin' on my playlist. And I agree with Jeff's decision to leave it on the Secret Messages cutting room floor. But listening to it again now after a good many years since the last time I heard it, I find it, dare I say, endearing. Nostalgic. And quite pleasant on the ears. It puts a smile on my face, as I listen and reflect back over all Jeff's accomplished since that day he got a brief tour of Abbey Road and handshake with a couple of the lads back in...what...'68?...and really, what more can you ask of a song than a smile on your face?
Jeff Lynne (with his Electric Light Orchestra guys) started in the early 70s where the Beatles broke up and resigned. Jeff and the Electric Light Orchestra has been the logical musical evolution
in my sense.
John Lennon dubbed The Electric Light Orchestra the "Sons of Beatles".
Thank you. Total agreement. Jeff Lynne once said the following: He was a member of the group "Idle Race" in 1968 and they were working on their first LP when they came to the studios at Abbey Road. There "The Beatles" were in Studio 3 where Paul and Ringo worked and in Studio 2 where John Lennon und George Harrison worked. I think they were working on the White Album at that time. Jeff has been a fan of the Fab4 since "Please, Please Me". He was there for about half an hour and he got a lot out of that short time.
Also for me, where the Beatles left off, Jeff Lynne and his Electric Light Orchestra picked up with his own personal touch.
Thanks for this great upload and the effort behind it. Very well done, guys.
"Secret Messages" The underrated album that followed "Time". The album "Time" was already shortened by three songs, but "Secret Messages" was shortened by eight songs.
With this great "Beatles Forever".
To Jeff: "When are you going to officially present this song, please?"
Servus from Jeff's not-so-secret favorite city here in Bavaria.
For Goodness sakes Jeff, reconnect with Bev before it is too late for the both of you.
Perfect - nothing more to improve👍👍👍👍👍
You can distinctly hear the tune and construction of "Video!", and so he apparently didn't cut it completely.
Great job guys on the restoration
This has better vocals than the bug club one. based.
Stunning work guys
Congratulations! This is a Vast Improvement!
This actually isn't terrible. I understand why this was never released, but I'm glad I finally got to hear it. Maybe I can comprehend the abrupt tempo changes because of my secret love for Loser Gone Wild, but I digress.
Clearer version than I have ever heard before. thank you!
I've been an ELO fan since "Discovery" was released and a Beatles fan six years longer. Now having said that, as for this song, I like its concept and sound. But, is it possible that Jeff never released it, because the lyrics seemed to be too intentional and forced upon the listener? Meaning, there are just too many recitations of Beatle song titles. Granted, ELO created it four years prior, but I thought that another record that Jeff helped produce, write and play on was George Harrison's "When We Was Fab" which was the perfect way for a song to be sonically and lyrically a nod to The Beatles. There's no direct mention of who George is singing about, but Beatle fans knew. And we didn't need it directly told to us. In fact, George being George, rather than reference a Beatles song, he acknowledges Dylan ("it's all over now, baby blue") and The Miracles ("you really got a hold on me"). That's one of the MANY great things about a Beatles song: it was open to interpretation. "Baby, You're A Rich man" didn't need to indicate that "Baby" was referring to Brian Epstein. Or that "Sexy Sadie" was about the Maharishi. And "Piggies"? All of which I'm sure is what Jeff tried to do with his lyrics, but couldn't accomplish. Whether I'm correct or completely off-base, I do hope Jeff reworks this song and finally releases it.
There be more than a little Del Shannon and the Beach Boys in the ELO, too
Superb version . uoy knaht
*Un merecido homenaje a la banda más grande de todos los tiempos!*
Excellent
WOW !!!!
Hermosa canción !!!!!
More ELO !
ELO forever ❤
Always wanted to hear this and now that I have, I'll move on with life and not look back on this moment. By the way, there were some really good songs kept off the Secret Messages album that was originally suppose to be a double album. All those songs (except for Beatles Forever) can be found on "Flashback" and "Afterglow"
Absolutely agree, personally i think hello my old friend is one of the best songs jeff lynne ever wrote, and is a much better homage of his love for all things beatles than the embarrassing beatles forever , as well as a tip of the hat to Birmingham. Secret messages may not be in the same league as a new world record, or even time for that matter, but i also think stranger is a great song..👍
Que maravilla jeff un maestro de la musica
Love it, all you need..
This is an example of why it will never be released. Copyright issues. It's best left in the archive and I cannot understand why 'fans' want it released. A great idea, but JL must have realised it could never be released. To think this has gone from inaudible to somebody has leaked the master tapes, in less than 15 years. I much prefer the last album.
what copyright issues? Titles can't be copyrighted so unless there's some part of the melody that's lifted from somewhere else just rattling off the names of a bunch of Beatles songs isn't a violation.
Jeff lynne very nice
This is easily the best quality sounding of this song I’ve ever heard, and for that you should be congratulated.
Unfortunately though, for me all it does is confirm that it should have remained in the discarded outtakes bin from “secret messages” where jeff lynne presumably left it.
It’s probably the most cringeworthy and embarrassing piece of work of Jeff’s that I’ve ever heard, no wonder he’s never revisited it.
Letter from Spain should of been one of them
Don’t speak too soon. Listen to “Who’s That” and tell me this is still the cringyist
Nothing earth shattering here regarding the audio. These people just finally annoyed someone inside the ELO fraternity and got a copy of the mixed digital version that was done nearly 20 years ago. You'd think they had a lab or something where they work tirelessly on this stuff. Well they don't. It's nicked and it's shared. Simple as.
It might as well be a reupload from another channel that released it first, at least it sounds the exact same
Клево!!
This song was never released. It’s more like a demo. Jeff didn’t want to release it on an album. He thought it was bad.
how did you restore this beautiful song?
This song is like a soul mate to Barclay James Harvest's song "Titles". ruclips.net/video/MAkePLeDsUY/видео.html
Back in the days of file-sharing sites, that Titles song was uploaded and shared as Beatles Forever.
bit elton like
✌ ☮ ❤
Superb job. There wouldn't happen to be some sort of lossless source somewhere by any chance? Asking for a friend....
Shoot us an email at theplastictulips@gmail.com and we'll get you set up. :)
Faded like the Beatles on Hey Jude.
lol, just joking!
Hey! Is there any chance of getting a wav download link for your restoration? It's one of the best versions of it I've heard!
shoot us an email at theplastictulips@gmail.com and we can take care of ya :)
I swear this sounds like John singing
I think if you listen really closely you can hear the vocalists emulating John, Paul and George's voices at different points in the song. Dave Morgan provided backing vocals on the track and Morgan said in an interview that he was mimicking the vocals of John Lennon.
Jeff did have a distinctly Lennon feel to his vocals in the early days at least. New World Rising from On the Third Day a good example.
Great job cleaning it up, but still an awful song. No wonder Jeff kept this hidden.
how did you restore this song?
Think it sounds shite..
Sounds like the bug club one
it's not!
This one sounds far better! ;)
Didn’t know this song. To be honest I’m not impressed. Barclay James Harvest did a better job.
Nope sorry, Been a fan since the mid 70s and this ranks alongside 'Battle Of Marston Moor'. cleaned up or not this song in my opinion is one of the worst in their illustrious history....
Possibly the worst thing ever recorded.
