Hikaru might be one of the most time conscious players who really understands the importance of every aspect of the clock. The best speed chess player in the world forcing opponents out of prep in classical. Good stuff.
Great endgame grind by Hikaru . Funny how both Anish and Caruana both realise in an instant that Hikaru and Ivan were following their game from 12 years back . 😊 . Best of luck Hikaru for tomorrow's game against Caruana .
amazing job Hikaru. I admire your fight and just willingness to keep making moves. That and your time management won you the game. Pulling for you tomorrow.
@@vivekchalasani easy to predict, cuz 4 guys are tied for first, fabi, hikaru, esipenko, vidit, hikaru already played vidit, esypinko he didnt play fabiano, so they have to play probably
Isle of Man is not part of the UK or the European Union. The island is a self-governing British Crown Dependency with its own parliament, government and laws. Residents are entitled to British passports however. I live in the UK and did not really know this before watching this tournament.
Nakamora you are so enjoyable to watch. Love your recaps of your games I’ve gotten so much better learning about your games and your logic. Also very impressed how you were not impulsive near the end and you took your time to for the best line. Very impressed by your performance today.
Giri: Remember that game we played twelve years ago? Caruana: How can I ever forget? You were white, and on the attack. Giri: I played the Petrov, and I was black. Caruana: Ah, yes. I remember it well. In the Isle of Man I believe was the test. Giri: We played the game in Budapest. Caruana: Ah yes, I remember it well. It was morning, first game of the day. Giri: It was evening, we played the night away. Caruana: Ah yes, I remember it well. My brilliancy humbled you into submission. Giri: The game ended with threefold repetition. Both: Ah yes, we remember it well!
Now we all know that Hikaru is the kind of person, 3:44 if Hikaru notices you smirking at him, he will look up your ENTIRE chess history and find out exactly why you smirked at him.
After this game, I was really looking forward to this recap because of all the interesting ideas that were likely behind it, from the opening to the end. Cudos and Thx.
I would say it’s these youngsters vidit espienko and that IM i expected Hikaru and fabi to do well given how strong they are but he is playing pretty solid
Great game and recap Hikaru!! Enjoy watching your recaps more than other channels. Please keep up the good work, and I want to see you in the Candidiates! Mark Smith from Redding, CA
Greetings from London Mr Nakamura, Ive been following you silently for a long time... Youre quire good at chess huh? The dream for us fans would have been you and magnus fighting it out. I watched Mr Ding after his epic win... it drained him so much he said "ive done it now, why carry on. ? I respect that, he looked absoluley drained, both physicallly and mentally.... THe chess world would love our world champion to get out htere and play and teach us his stlye, or make at least make a name for himself like all the former world champs..MR DING...Come Back...
8:38 thats the opposite to what ive heard, but im only 1200. U recommend keeping the minor pieces when ur pawns are better ,to try to force a promotion ? or am i barking up the wrong tree?
Having followed Hikaru's OTB game in Norway chess, world cup, Qatar Master and now, Grand Swiss, is it the case that he did not lose a single classical game during such a long period of time?
Thank you doing the recap after such a grueling game and schedule. Interesting game. Does the same checkmate option happen often in high level chess. Pretty crazy like Hikaru noted.
I wish the Grand Swiss had a playoff for the top players instead of using the tie-break. Lots of luck in that tie-break calculation, you can’t control the rating of the players you beat
As I chess player I am genuinely asking (myself foremost) why do we more often than not play these well-considered but "horrible, horrible" moves when on the next move or 2 our opponent can demonstrate that indeed it was horrible...? Anyways, it came out alright today for Hikaru and I wish you the best for tomorrow!
You aren't able to calculate every line, no computer can achieve that task either. That's why novelties are still being discovered in openings to this day.
“Dead Draw” - B O K 2023

It’s an animation
I can’t wait for Hikaru to be in a world championship match and give recaps each day. ❤
Now that would be CONTENT
Bring in Hammer for that!
It's very probable
Nukaru will nuke Liren

That’s quite the game you had to win it 3 times😂

really shows how insame gms are... they just remember everything bro...
So funny that they knew but Naka didn't
Fischer random ftw. The most common attribute of gms is insane memory.
@@ShadowboostHe’s supposed to remember everyone else’s games now too? From over a decade back? I swear, y’all Hikaru haters are something else
One more win and you are in the candidates. You don't even need the rating route.

Back in the lead 🎉
Last 9 games:
Hikaru +6.1
Firouzja -10.4
Fabi tomorrow, good luck
I really hope he doesn't go for the berlin tomorrow with the white pieces against fabi

Well, opponents better not anger him! 💪
Congratulations on the win, Hikaru. You're my favorite chess player! You're a classy guy and I love your channel.

I have always enjoyed your candour in these breakdowns but never more now. Thank you.
I love how SGM can look at a board and remember a game from 2011 and share a wholesome moment like that
Hikaru you can do this! Just a little bit more to go and then Candidates here we Go!!!

The longer the "today" is, from "For todaeeeeeeeeey's video...", the better the video will be. This is a known fact.
It is known
The way Firo is performing, Naka is guaranteed to be in candidate by rating

How on earth this man manages to prepare for games, stream on Twitch and put out high-quality YT recaps every day is beyond me. A phenomenal mind.
Congratulations Hikaru on this massive win. You are my chess idol and inspires me to play more. Continue grinding!
Well played! Thanks for explaining the fundamentals in your analysis.
POP Off HIKARU!! Always rooting for you!!!

10:05 when he said a horrible horrible move i thought he blundered the game but the engine liked it😅😂
Welcome back to everyone I hope you all are doing well from wherever you are in the big wide world 😊

Hikaru: it's a horrible blunder🗿
I love how his edit team always chops him off before he's done talking!
Congratz, great spirit shown in this endgame.

Watching that game was very hype. Grats.
Congrats to Hikaru 👊
That Anish and Fabiano story was funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great performance, Hikaru! You're the best, man!
Congrats Hikaru, you're almost there
He has Video Opening too. "For Todayyyyyyyyyyys video we are gonna be..........(mating queen since i am straight)"

Excellent performance Hikaru, good luck for the next two rounds!
Thank you for making chess so enjoyable to watch. =)
was expecting the title to be "Battling to the death against John Wick for a candidate spot"
I don´t even play chess much but I could listen to this guy all day.
Thanks for excellent recap
New drinking game, take a shot everytime Hikaru says 'simply'.
Lovely recap!
Best of luck sir. We all wanna see you in the candidate tournament.
Whatcha gonna do when Nakamania runs wild on you?? Go get 'em, Naka!! Get some rest... Fabi is no joke.
Great job today Hikaru! Rest up and finish strong 💪

Congrats!Bravo!
You’re doing great! Get some good rest and win tomorrow! HIKARU! HIKARU! HIKARU!

Well done. Good luck tomorrow!

I think it's the best option, we will see a quick draw most likely
Congrats! Keep on going!
Fabiano next! Good luck!

The Thumbnail is underrated 😂😂
Mr Hikaru is my motivation to beat the unbeatable.
Yup the thumbnail is looking more precise today.
Whit this pace not only you get the candidates as you take the world championship..
This year is yours 🏆
Great job Hikaru! I wish you the best of luck against Fabiano tomorrow!
My chess speaks for itself-H.N.
Hikaru qualified for candidates!
Congrats
Interesting that during the game Leko praised g4. Hikaru is sometimes very hard on himself.
