Hi Omar, thanks for the feedback 🙂. My MSM polar scope is a paper weight, I stopped trying to use it very early on in the piece. Our pole star in the southern hemisphere is just not bright enough to make for easy alignments. I use a combination of drift alignment and my mobile phone. Definitely plan to cover this in a future video as it has enabled me to get "good enough" alignment in just a few minutes when using focal lengths of 35mm or under.
@@AstroRoad I completely agree with the polar scope being a paper weight, mine not only sits loose on the tracker but the reticle is completely misaligned. I tried to calibrate it myself but I couldnt. I ended up 3d printing a bracket for my phone that + photopills is what helps me align it for now. I agree with Richard, your production quality is really good, keep up the great work!
Thanks Omar. That bracket sounds interesting. I do much by the sounds. Really need to get that video out. If it can save one person wasting their money on the MSM polar scope it'd be worth it.
Loving your work Dominic. I'm really enjoying your production quality .. really nice time lapses also mate. Well done.
Thanks heaps Richard 👍! Plan on getting out to this spot in September next year so I can get the Milky Way in the time-lapse.
Fantastic images, even the cat joined in🤣
Thanks Brian, glad you liked it 👍. Yeah, that is the neighbours cat, Percy. I didn't even know he was there, was probably hunting me 😂.
Another good vid Dom 🍻
Thanks Duane 🙂👍.
Excellent video Dom, do you use a scope to polar align your tracker?
