I don't grow giant pumpkin don't have the space but love to watch others. Question 💭 & maybe someone has asked this of others How do you keep your vines clear of squash bugs? Since these aren't presumably for eating do you just heavily spray pesticides all over or how do you protect them from bugs & animals to get them this size? Thanks & sorry about your 3rd pumpkin loss. As a gardener I know the feeling😢.
@@krenee2266 for general gardening I think the best approach is to let the full ecosystem exist which means no pesticides. You have to expect that some plants may be lost but in the long run a natural balance of pest and predator will develop. For Giant Pumpkins I’ll admit I have used some insecticides. My problem hasn’t been squash bugs but spider mites this year and they are difficult to manage regardless of what you use.
Friendly suggestion would be to cut that blossom off. It's going to not only dig into the fruit or possibly the blossom could get stressed and have a bigger issue. Patch and pumpkin look great, nice job
@@growinggiantswithscott yeah I was worried about that. A few folks recommended leaving it alone but that was before it made contact. Would you lop the whole thing off or just cut the tip that is making contact?
@dawson_acres that would depend on how many more days before you harvest and pounds per day it's doing or the pace it is on. Take that in to account when determining how much to cut. You only want to do this once so it can heal and not have to do it again. Good luck
Love the look of that Wolf 🥇
Nice👍🎃
