Who remembers last year when Samantha pronounced pumpkin, “punk?” So cute to see her hugging that huge “punk!”
Punk! How does Samantha say pumpkin now?
@@terri.schenk I don’t know! Maybe they will answer on the Highlights channel?
😆😆
When I watch your videos I have to remind myself how incredibly hard you and Aaron work! It's easy to romanticize and want this lifestyle deeply and yet forget that it take tremendous work to create it. You guys are amazing! ❤
Yes. This is an issue with social media. People see short, highly curated snippets of others' lives and make assumptions based on them without knowing the entire story.
I’m there with you! I always think “I can do that!”, and I know I CAN! But then there’s the practicality part of it - do I have time and can I commit to giving this the hard work it requires?
Either way, I ALWAYS enjoy Laura and Aaron’s videos and SO appreciate them bringing us along and inspiring us to add life and beauty to our spaces. Thanks you guys!!
@@geebeilfuss5201 Totally agree!!
OH SOOOOOO VERY TRUE!
It is a lot of work even though they do have hired help! It also helps to have a husband/wife that helps and has the same goals. Huge difference from doing it all yourself.
A few years ago our Son was able to grow an Atlantic Giant Pumpkin and his was over 700 lbs at the local Pumpkin weigh-off and won prizes
My husband has tried many times but it took our teenage boy to be diligent with water and care ❤
My mom passed away a couple days ago...I haven't felt alot of joy in the past few weeks. Can I tell you what joy it brought to me to watch this episode today. My norm is to watch every morning with my coffee. I smiled all the way through it. Especially seeing those sweet babies of yours AND Russell! 😂 Dreaming of my gardens for 2024 already! Thank you for bringing some joy to me today! ❤
Im so sorry for your loss. God bless you❤
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I'm not sure what the mystery squash are in the beginning, but they look like little cartoon bombs with fuses. 💣
I loved how Samantha hugged and kissed the pumpkin!🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
My favorite moment!
That was the cutest! And Benjamin helping as he always does. Love watching the harvest being a family affair 💓😊
Samantha hugging the huge pumpkin is probably the sweetest thing ever seen. What a fun harvest!
That was so cute😻
What a nice assortment of pumpkins!
What a great harvest. So fun for the kids to be involved. I am glad they were able to enjoy gathering pumpkins with their mom. I love watching your video's. I can see you and Aaron are good parents and keep the kids safe don't let other people's opinions ruin your fun. I grew up on a farm and snakes and spiders etc. were a part of life and you knew to watch out for them. Have a blessed day everyone.
This is why we keep coming back to your channel, because you are a true gardener: who can't bear to pull a volunteer squash plant that is totally in the way, and that you don't really need anyway.
Also, the autumn crown squash are very tasty. They are more like a butternut than a pumpkin, nice dense flesh, not stringy.
Harvesting pumpkins never gets old. It’s like Christmas, it’s exciting each and every year.
Love that Samantha kisses her “punks”, it’s heart warming to see this.
It's magical seeing what Mother nature makes. She is absolutely miraculous and definitely rewards all you hard work.
Could you show us Bethany’s pigs enjoying all the goodies you take to them? I’d love to watch that!😁 growing up on the farm I remember taking peach pits to the pigs and listening to them crunch away, they absolutely loved them!🐷
Laura you amaze me. Your garden is productive when you’re not even trying. Bravo.
They look very similar to gem squash, which are my absolute favorite.
Boil in water, whole, for about 25min.
Cut in half and scoop out seeds. Add butter and salt and pepper. Enjoy!! 😍
Oh, Laura... so much fun seeing all the sizes of the pumpkins/squash that you harvested. Your face would just light up as much as the kids when finding a BIG pumpkin. I watch your RUclips posts every day and even go back to some of the older ones and watch again. It's one of my favorite things to do when I have my morning coffee.
Russell figuring out how to get closer, satisfying his curiosity, and then staring at you so adoringly…cuuuute!
Has Laura said if Chester is still around? I believe that is the other red kitty’s name.
The other cat is Cheddar, and he's still there. But Russell is the one who is always wanting to be near Laura.
@@cynthiabujold2225 That is right . I couldn’t remember his name. It is sad. That Cheddar doesn’t come around anymore. The long haired cat has changed things for the reds. Hope the three warm up before it gets really cold. Cheddar has lost so much weight. He doesn’t look happy and is always on guard. Thanks for telling and chatting with me.
You could donate some Jack B Littles to Benjamin’s class at school. They would love it!
Such a fun harvest!! The squash in the greenhouse looks exactly like a squash I got from Baker Creek called "Squash Winter, Sweetnut" It's a type of acorn squash but is much more round.
Right on. Looked to me like an Acorn cross. Hope Laura shows us the cut.
I am convinced that the secret to Laura's amazing garden is drip irrigation. Consist watering. I need to start this next year....whatever it takes. It will happen next spring 😊
Agree. Mine fizzles out by the early part of July. I try to hand water but it is never enough.
I highly recommend a drip irrigation system! Laura inspired me to add drip irrigation systems and I finally committed to figuring it out this season with the help of her other videos. I've had so much more luck growing a cut flower garden and having beautiful flower beds because of her.
I totally get Laura looking a little tender eyed at the end, some of my favorite memories of my son's childhood involved the pumpkin patch. I have photos of him hugging pumpkins in a field we visited before I had an area to grow my own. I had an awful side lawn that was on a Mississippi River sand plain in MN and grass would not grow so I planted pumpkins every year and they thrived there (and I was no Laura in green thumb or fertilizing.) LOVED seeing the kids out there! 💕🥧 I used to let the neighborhood kids choose a pumpkin and give them a toothpick to write their name on when they were small and green and as they grew it would scar into the outside of theirs and made for fun harvesting of personal pumpkins... They also would come and gently rotate theirs so they would grow nice and even... Success all around!
the pumpkin harvest is always my favorite episode of the year! It is always so surprising how much you find under the vine canopy.
I'm from South Africa, the East London area, and I love your content. Of interest maybe, our local traditional growers sustainably use the squash and pumpkin vine leaves in a traditional dish cooked with onions, maise meal, grated carrots, salt, pepper and a little chicken stock. Served as a side dish, it's so tasty. Happy harvesting! 😊
Wow! It never occurred to me that you would have pumpkins and certainly never occurred to me to use the vines and leaves. That’s so interesting!
Also from EL!
Awesome harvest. How fun for Benjamin and Samantha! ❤ They are just so cute! Love all the beautiful pumpkins and squash! Enjoy!
Cool shades Benjamin and Samantha!! 😎
Midnight and Snowball, how cook, and always love the porcelain. So much for for the kids. I love when kids need to search for treasures!
The kids being involved reminds me of when I was visiting my Uncle Lindy at his home in Michigan and we were in the garden together. He had me bite into a tomato like an apple, which I had not done ever before. I will NEVER forget how wonderful it tasted right from the earth. Back then his home was on the outskirts of the nearby town. Now the town has overwhelmed that rural area. It was a moment I will never forget and I know your children, much like yourself Laura, will have a trove of wonderful memories of their childhood.
Laughing at myself cause my volume was accidently muted at the start of the video. Of course, I had to go back & restart with volume on to hear the "Hi guys! How's it going?". That's a very important part of the video apparently :) Makes me feel all warm & connected! Have a great weekend to the Garden Answer family!
Hello Laura, the squash in the high tunnel looks like it is a Kabocha squash. Love your videos and seeing the kids grow up so fast. Hello from Morin-Heights, Quebec, Canada.
I thought that as well, but the stems aren't right. Such a mystery! I just know it isn't a part of the summer squash family.
Love watching Benjamin & Samantha pick their pumpkins. Laura what a beautiful harvest. You have plenty to decorate. Enjoy!❤❤❤❤
Just love your sweet family. I cannot believe Benjamin is starting to get so tall, sweet Samantha. God bless your sweet family.✝️ What a wonderful harvest from the Lord and all your hard work.
We love out ATV tow behind deep wagon... you need one! Love the vines -- who else is looking for Cinderella!! So very glad to see Russell. I thought something happened not seeing him for quite a while... The kids are so sweet!!
that is gem squash!! very common in south africa very yummy sweet squash.
Oh sweetie.. you are just like a kid in the punkin patch!!! Here we gooo!! I just love it!! Laura you are a ray of sunshine 💛🧡💛
You probably won't read all of these comments but I'll try anyway. Laura, I feel the same as you, digging potatoes is a family favorite and squash and pumpkins are next. Squash are heavy eaters and need lots of fertilizer. They will ripen much quicker if fed properly so I've found over the years. I'm 75 and am going to pick my Butternut this week and I'm also a Michigan resident. Love watching you pick squash and pumpkins!!!!
Hi Laura and Aaron! I'm glad the kids were able to help with the pumpkin and squash harvest. They looked like they were having a lot of fun. Thank you so much for sharing!
Once again Laura produces something she didn’t even plant 😂❤😂 we love Laura! God bless you & yours
It's awesome to see your children in the pumpkin patch with you, and Benjamin is a great helper, too. Samantha is also growing tall. She looks a lot like you.
Hi Laura,
In India we eat lot of pumpkin in form of curries, dried masala veggies, make sweets from white pumpkins, and soups. Pumpkin is one of the most nutritious vegetable.
Laura has me so addicted to growing different things. My pumpkin harvest was insane too! I never knew I liked pumpkin so much!🤗
I sure miss Russell. And just like that he appears. Made my heart smile!!!!!!!
I have the exact same squash growing wildly in my compost pile... along with a few tomato plants as well as a couple potato plants. Fun self-seeded surprises in the garden!!
That volunteer squah in the greenhouse looks like a Kabocha. Sometimes you see it a little spotted and slightly bigger but the color is similar. You can slice it up and fry it as tempura with the skin on, braise it, or roast it. I'm sure you can find a lot of recipes on them, especially with Asian dishes.
Love the black pumpkins for Halloween decorating!! A great fun day for the kids.
Harvesting pumpkins in the fall is the best!! Can’t wait to see how you decorate with them. Pumpkin carving will be so much fun now that the kids are older. Enjoy !!
Loved seeing Russell makes me smile, haven’t seen him as much since the grumpy fellow arrived
I too miss the "Russel Show"
Agree, feisty Douglas has been trying to steal Russell’s thunder ever since he moved in. 😂😂
@@missbiggs9437 I love how we are all satisfied with the only drama Laura's channel brings us, cat drama. I agree douglas is so feisty and grumpy lol.
I’ve missed Russell 🐈🧡!!!
Yes but we all love Douglas too! Ice looks so whimsical 😊❤️
I loved the way Samantha gave the pumpkin a big bear hug ..so sweet filled my heart and brought tears to my eyes 🥰
Adore seeing the kids. They are just so cute! Great haul. Love your videos, thanks so much !
I'm glad that you showed us that root, very interesting
Your little helpers are so fun to watch.
Good morning from Delaware Garden Answer friends.
I love watching all your videos… BUT.. I absolutely love your pumpkin harvest and decorating your yard with them… I miss your blue pumpkins:).
Didn't you make a chili using butternut squash a long time ago or maybe it was a taco mixture? If you plan to make another recipe using butternut squash, I'm sure many people would love to see it. I know it's a garden channel, but I think a lot of us really enjoy watching you in your kitchen too. And your projects! I love seeing all the new additions and changes on your property and I know you and Aaron are way busier than when you first started the channel, but I do miss the projects you used to create at your old house.
Awww, Russell!! It seems he isn't around you as much with Douglas added to the mix.
Amazing harvest 🎃 Very productive, it was fun watching the kids,it definitely looks like a treasure hunt ♡
Good morning, Laura, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b 🎃
Great Autumn 🍂🎃🍂Harvest
You have food for the winter ahead. Enough for your whole family.
Happy Gardening Everyone 👩🌾👍
❤Peggy❤
Wow, so many pumpkin varieties I think I like that midnight one of the best wonderful to see the kids out there with you
My favorite thing in the Fall is pumpkins. All kinds. I decorate my whole house outside and in with them. My husband thinks I'm nuts but the colors are just incredible...many are just like yours! Beautiful harvest.
My aunt (from the Peloponnese, Greece) once made an amazing pumpkin pie with raisins, pumpkin pieces and diamond noodles. Perhaps she added some kind of cheese too. Oh my god! It was unbelievably tasty. She had bslanced sweet and salty in the pie. She is famous for her pies ,especially her milk pie with semolina goat's milk and cinnamon.
I love how your cats are regulars in your videos! 🐈 🐈⬛🧡
It was neat seeing the kids out helping! That is rare in today's world and that is so sad.
I get excited picking pumpkins and digging up potatoes too. It is like a treasure hunt. I think it must be in our farmer DNA. ❤😅😊
Samantha - hugging that large pumpkin! My heart just melted…❤😊
The squash at the beginning looks like actin squash. Really good
4:06 Those could be some "Zappalito" Winter Squashes (Cucurbita Maxima Zapallito Group)
I am watching from my tv, but I had to get into my account to tell you that I’m so glad you let your babies get involved, despite what youtube downers say. ❤
The people that got you so worried about black widows - they’re doing too much. If they took the time to dissect their surroundings on any given day, they would discover that spiders, both good and bad, are literally surrounding us at all times.
I am also a mom and if I let bugs/ insects keep us from living our lives, then we wouldn’t have lives. Don’t let the folks that spaz about spiders get ya down.
It takes all kinds, right?
Love what you guys do and your family is astoundingly precious.
I love growing squash and pumpkins as well so this video is right up my alley! They're so fun to grow.
Such a wonderful tradition you are creating for your kids Laura! Their very own pumpkin patch!
I wrote down my favorite varieties you grew. Thanks!
Big Mac is meant to grown by itself on the vine. It'll reach its true potential better that way.
Well done, Garden Answer!
Wowzie. Benjamin and Samantha are so adorable. She hugs the pumpkin.
Samantha hugging the pumpkin was just the sweetest! Hoping to one day have a large enough property to be able to grow even a fraction of what you do!
Good morning everyone 🌻🌄! Great harvest and it was so good to see the kids having fun!Blessings 💞🤗💞 The bigger of big Mac put on your dad's desck😂
Oh right! You have such a great memory. 😊
Thank you so much for the tutorial on how to know when squash/are ready to harvest.😊 And the description of the different types of squash. Sweet meat is my❤ such a great harvest ! You are a blessed woman and so is your family 🕊️
I just love pumpkins and fall......theres just something that captures me this time of year! Love the kids they are so beautiful God bless you all
You must love what you do to be camera shy of playing the piano your garden s say it all beautifully and knowledgeable done!
The picking of the pumpkins is adorable - Laura your enthusiasm never waivers! 👍👏😊🎃🎃🎃🎃
My favourite video of the year. No idea why i enjoy watching you harvest so much but it’s really satisfying. x
Oh my! What a great harvest of pumpkins, and squash. It was wonderful seeing the children helping Happy Fall 🧡👨🌾🍂🎃🍁
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day ❤️
Fabulous harvest, beautiful video. Samantha kissing the pumpkin was the cutest! I'd love for you to discuss/maybe remind viewers how you deal with squash bugs and SVB. I have ONE squash plant and the squash bugs are all over it. I'd prefer to use the least harmful method for the humans and pollinators, as I'm currently trying to talk my husband into giving up more of our yard for garden space. I also know there is no way I could hand pick the squash but eggs, treat for borers, etc if I plant as many pumpkins and squash as I dream of.
It must be like magic for kids to pick pumpkins. I would of loved it as a kid.
It was such a relief for me to hear you say your honeynut squash are the last thing to ripen for you! Mine are all still totally green, I was starting to worry! Luckily I’m in western Washington so I have a bit more time before our average first frost. Fingers crossed they make it! 💜
Great to see little garden surprises like a mystery squash plant in the greenhouse. I guess the Lord is always trying to teach us little lessons of patience & such.
Good morning everyone. Coffee and Garden Answer!!! Best way to start my day. XOXO from Katy, Texas
if once i. my lifetime i could have a harvest like this i would be so over the moon
thank you for sharing
You don't even plant stuff and it does incredible! That greenhouse squash-omg!! I think there may be magic in your soil! What a harvest!! The kids were so cute and Samantha grace, as usual, so sweet hugging the pumpkin. Benjamin always the good helper❤😊
Good evening, everyone! since then Laura got a beautiful and bountiful harvest.
I had fun watching Samantha and Benjamin in the pumpkin patch
Awwww loved how Samantha loved on the pumpkin 🎃 so fun for the kiddos. It's just something that brings a smile to your face when you see all those pumpkins 🎃 and gourds so fun. I love decorating with them also. 😊 Thanks for sharing Laura ❤
God's blessings to you and the family 😊❤
So much fun having the luxury of many pumpkins and not just the One you bought at the farm stand.
Another fun video. If it wasn't because I watch this channel, I would never know (or care about 😁) any of this. 😊😊👍 it's so satisfying to see something grow from seeds. 👏🌿
Her huggin that pumpkin was sooo precious. I just love your family. You are an a amazing momma and Aaron is a good dad. Be blessed!!!💜💜
So fun!! Was very glad to see you in long sleeves and gloves as a precaution against black widows. The kids were so well behaved staying safely where you asked them to and happily able to join in. Samantha hugging that pumpkin was adorable. You’re raising some very loving and helpful humans. Well done Laura and Aaron!
No ugly pumpkins! You’ll hurt their feelings. 😊 Unusual pumpkins can make the coolest
Jack-o-lanterns! I really hope we get to see a family carving party with Monica, Nick and Grandma and Grandpa joining in. 🎃🎃🎃
I watch you every night, you help me to relax☺️ I love seeing all the progress and new projects. This episode was so fun and I loved seeing Samantha with the giant pumpkin🎃 Thank you for sharing your journey of creating beautiful landscapes and gardens💚
Wow!!!! How very beautiful, loving all the different varieties. This has to be so much fun for Benjamin to see all the different pumpkins and squash. Samantha giving a big hug to that big pumpkin loved it🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
The white one's would be pretty with the light powdery green ones and light orange ones around a bunch of hay with some flower arrangements and a scarecrow.. Some fall color flowers like mums.
Awesome harvest of a nice variety of pumpkins. All your gardens are beautiful Laura..
Morning Everyone 🥰🥰
Waking up and seeing the whole GA family is such a treat! 😊❤ The new property is shaping up and looking awesome! Aaron, you and Laura should pick a name for the new property. It's such a treat to see the kids out with you guys.😊 I hope you guys have a wonderful time at the Fall Festival!
It's like a treasure hunt! What a beautiful array of pumpkins and squash!
I have Cinderella pumpkins and a ton of cute honeynut butternut squash sitting out in my garden trying to finish up before our first frost. 🥰 So exciting - I love growing pumpkins but some years have second thoughts because of squash bugs but I’m so glad I planted these! I’ll be cutting it close on harvesting them before it freezes but fingers crossed they get all finished and cured on the vine. 😊
I enjoyed seeing all the pumpkins. Gensler Gardens in Illinois grows almost 30 varieties of pumpkins. This year, the new varieties are Grizzly Bear, Lemonade and Popcorn. I am enjoying my beautiful popcorn pumpkin so much!
We all know you’re a careful Mama. 🎃 🧡 It is so much fun for little ones! Definitely my favourite time of the year!
Your amazing harvest inspired me to make a pumpkin dip to take to a get-together tonight. I enjoy watching you plant such a variety of plants that l dont have the room or stamina to. Thank you for allowing us to follow along on your gardening journey. And oh my goodness! Benjamin and Samantha Grace have grown so much!
