You’re growing more than beautiful plants- you’re growing beautiful, smart, caring children as well. Benjamin is a joy to watch- the way his face looks when his little mind is turning is just priceless
Please keep canning in your videos. It’s so nice to see how you use all of the produce from your gardens!! You guys work so hard to keep your gardens bountiful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion for gardening.
So perhaps 8 gallons of juice which could be drinking, fermented to wine, or fermented to vinegar in addition to making jelly. You may also dehydrate and make grape fruit leather? Then there are the table grapes which also could be used hand eating, and fruit leather and maybe more jelly? Who knows. All delicious! Also fruit leathers from your stone fruits would be a nice idea like fruit roll-ups for Benjamin but no added sweeteners or colors. Healthy! Benjamin is ever the good helper and seems to enjoy gardening and making his family home attractive! Well-done Mom, Dad and Grandparents and Aunties and Uncles!
I think she wants to this time and last time she felt obligated. Lol she seems to be thinking about all of the stuff that they miss in the winter and making sure they have an abundance this year.
Many gardening and homesteading channels are really into canning. Especially if you grow a lot of veggies/fruit. I think she is aware of trends on social media and producing content that people want. Sales of canning jars thru the roof since COVID.
Laura, you could can every day of harvest season and I would watch it without complaint while I drink my morning coffee. Never think we'll be upset because "I've been doing a lot of canning lately".
I’m loving all these new style videos with the different ways to utilize bountiful harvests. You’re giving us all lots of inspiration. Fresh grape juice sounds so wonderful!
@Garden Answer, just to be of help, take your bands off the jars for storage. There’s a thing called “false seal”. The jar could unseal and reseal without you knowing and cause you & family to get sick. Also don’t stack your jars. Same reason. Love that your canning!!!! Keep going!!! ❤❤❤
@@yvonnealexander3241 after your jars have sat for 24 hours, remove the bands and just leave the tightly sealed "flat" lid. I also gently rinse the outside of my jars and let them air dry. Label and store in single layer. Also, if processing multiple batches on same day, consider numbering your batches on the lid so if you find a bad jar later on you can pay close attention to the others in that batch.
Thank you for showing this steamer. I had no idea. I’ve been doing concords for 20 years in a stock pot and squeezing out the juice for jelly. You just made my life easier!
Many, many years ago I made grape butter 😊 Used a large grinder (within the canning array of tools), it used the whole grape skin and all. I remember them being dark purple (concord)? The consistency was exactly like apple butter, so, so delicious ❤
@@pcrice-lr2dn I had no idea. Always did it the hard way. Just ordered one! Concords are almost ready and this time I’ll be better prepared and will work a lot less.
It looks like great harvest. You need to remove way more leaves from around where the grapes are. We had a massive grapevine of dark purple grapes. Once a week I would remove a wheelbarrow full of leaves off to let the sun shine onto the grape bunches. You can leave the leaves that are on the outer reaches. The reason to remove lots of leaves is to let the air get through to avoid any boytritis(fungas) and to help the sunshine improve the brix(sugar levels) in the grapes.😊
I love watching you can things. I didn’t know there was such a thing as the juicer thing you showed us, i’m very interested in it. I love going through your garden, I love seeing you plant, prune, and, etc. But the canning is just the icing on all that you show us the whole process from beginning to end from buying the plants, digging the whole fertilizing, planting, taking care of them, harvesting, then two canning. That’s really a treat for me.

Did not want to scroll down to find my original comment but here is a recipe for gummy bears. Grape Juice Gummies by Soccermomblog 1 1/2 cups grape juice 3 Tablespoons honey 1 Tablespoon lemon juice 3 packets of knox gelatin, (= 3 tablespoons) 1 Combine all ingredients to a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, whisking constantly as the mixture heats, until the gelatin is completely dissolved. When it’s reached a rolling boil, remove pan from heat and allow to cool slightly. 2 Use a dropper to fill the silicone candy molds with the grape juice liquid. Alternatively, you can pour the mixture into a squeeze bottle and use that to fill the molds. 3 When the molds are filled, place them in the fridge on a sheet tray for 30 minutes to harden. (can use agar gelatin to make vegan gummies)
You can also drain all the juice in a large pitcher, get the next batch of grapes going in the steamer, and then pour the juice from the pitcher into the jars. It reduces how many times you have to open the hose clamp down from 12 to 1. We consider the jars of juice as concentrate.
To piggy back, IF you drain your first batch into a pitcher with the next batch you'd probably have enough for a full canned to water bath. And, you mention peaches....peach juice is just as good!💜💚💙💛😎
Canning is so rewarding isn't it! It's marvelous watching you rediscover your enjoyment of it, and looking forward to your summer bounty when summer is just a memory.
I worked in produce for 20 years and the more yellowing on the white grapes is the sugar content coming through the skin! The closer to brown they get the sweeter grape they will be! Just fyi hello from Mount Vernon Illinois zone 6a
I have been thinking a lot of your comment of having your bag of fertiliser in a seal-able bucket with a cup. I wish the manufacturer and vendor would sell their products in buckets. For many of the the items that come in a easy tear plastic bag (soil, mulch, grass seed, grass fertiliser, peat moss, sand, powder lime, prilled lime, pebbles, river rocks), if they were in a resealable bucket, they would be so much easier to sell, buy, carry, transport, store and stack. Then you can reuse the bucket afterwards. I work in a garden centre and these bags fall apart so easily after being in the sun and rain for months, and tear easily when the customer grabs them from the ends instead of the "body" of the bag, and once they are open, so hard to close and sell even with bag patches. I know the cost of production would go up but I believe people would reuse the buckets because they would be such a great size for storing and stacking. Plus if the vendors starting doing bulk selling and the customer could bring the buckets back to be refilled at a reduced bulk price, then the single use plastic would be smaller amounts. Just a thought as you have a big vendor at your ear to listen to you, maybe if one starts the trend, they all follow along. One of the grass seeds vendors have two sizes of buckets and jugs and they sell out every year, besides being a great product, its the buckets, cleaner, easier with a handle. Women like pockets on their dresses and handles on their buckets and jugs. LOL. (I like using buckets as a pot especially as an insert on pretty pots so they last longer.)
There is nothing like your own canned grape juice! My mom and us girls bought a steamer and we just pass it from house to house as needed or we do a whole bunch in a day .😊
I have a steamer I bought to make grape jelly from grapes bought at the farmers market, mine has the spigot in the front. I LOVE it!!!!!!! It was so easy to make the juice, although I did find with steaming I had to boil off some of the water. It was too watered down with the steam. But soooo much easier to make. I bought mine off of Wayfair. Thank you for sharing this video with us Laura. P.S. I did buy a grape plant this year, so will see if I get any grapes next year-zone 3.
The new pot is great! Kitchen tools are what make or break your love of cooking! I use a steamer for making tamales, I add marbles to the water, this is a good method to alarm you when the water is getting too low.
Laura your canning looks so good. Did you know your suppose to take the rings off the cans to store. That way when you store them you can find the ones that didn't seal. I have all my canning done again this year ready for winter eating.
Coming from the wine (grape) world, many winemakers bottle their wines unfiltered nowadays. They argue filtering removes aromas and flavor. Food for thought! Loved seeing the process. I have a small pinot noir vineyard and may not use it for wine; maybe I'll get a steamer and get creative! Thanks.
I’m 57 and remember harvesting red grapes with my grandmother. We would then make jelly and juice with the grapes. Great memories! The steamer would have made things much easier for sure.
How satisfying being able to use your produce the way you want to. Jam, sauces, juice and then give the remains to the chickens. I GUESS You are now considered a homesteader

I love watching you and hearing the excitement in your voice when the product you're canning turns out the way you want!😊 I am thrilled that your garden has provided you with food that you can enjoy in the winter months!!
Loved the grape juice processing - I was licking my lips while you were tasting. Your channel is so helpful, joyful and family friendly too. Love to see how your kids are growing up to appreciate gardening. Thank you for your hard work.
I never see Concord grapes anymore. Not in Kansas used to all the time in the stores. But we make Concord grape pie. You skin the grapes set aside, put Pulp in the calendar to remove seeds,. Then we bring pulp and skins add 1+1/2 cu sugar 2TB Cornstarch 2 1/2qt pan .it is fantastic. This was such perfect timing as my mom and I are going to pick gallons of grapes tomorrow to make juice this weekend! Thank you for sharing your process… I hope it’s as easy for us as you made it look! 🤗
My husband bought me grape plants a couple of years ago. They took down my wire and staple trellis so we built a wooden one. I didn’t know how to make juice so I’m excited about this video. I’m always amazed at the health of your plants. The Japanese beetles did a number on mine.
Japanese beetle traps only WORK IF you submerge part of the bags over a big wide tote of soapy water. I did that 1 year....Seriously I saw no beetles for 5 years... (I must have cleaned out the neighborhood). Dug a hole and tilted tub into it.
I love the canning, cooking, and harvesting videos. It's just perfect for this time of year and is so inspiring to see you using the produce and flowers you've grown. It encourages me to make better use of the extras from the garden.
Love the new plants you have added to your landscape. Benjamin's pick is especially beautiful. I love the idea of making your own juice. What a way to use your grapes. If you decide to make grape jelly please let us see. I would love to know how it turns out. Thank you and have a blessed day everyone
I love the canning, juicing and wheat videos! Please continue doing them and let us know how bread flour turns out. It’s good to know where your food comes from. It wonderful to see you come out of your house and be able to feed your family with the fruits of your labor. Have these videos been popular? Will you continue them? I love your channel!
Laura, I appreciate so much your canning videos this year. I don't know if I'll ever do any of that, I'm mostly a "city girl with a small garden" but... My grandmother and aunts used to talk of all the canning they did (they were farmers from Iowa and Oregon, Lakeview!) and I never got to experience it with them. Of course, they didn't have all the newer-fangled equipment and didn't even have air conditioning to enjoy while they were doing all the work, but your demonstrations are a real connection for me to them and to the caring, difficult work that they did to sustain their families through decades, including through the Depression in the 1930s. I recall canning time for them was also a time where they came together to help each other's households and to share family time. It was hard work, but they loved the traditions associated with it. I have done a lot of pickling this year: cucumbers, okra, banana peppers, and am working on so many of the great methods you've shown us. Great job on the grape juice!
I loved it when Benjamin closed the back of the Gator "so the plants won't fall and break." Just want to hug him and his need to protect. Love these videos.
I never knew you could make grape juice so easily! Thanks, you are always introducing us to knew ideas in the garden, how to use your produce, what tools to use, the list goes on and on. This channel is a joy to watch 😊.
We have two scuppernong and one muscadine grape vines, we made a trellis with cattle fence, so we harvest from underneath. Made it really easy to get eleven gallons to make into jelly and syrup.
I’m loving the preservation part of this channel. It’s like the wreath making, fairy gardens and craft projects: giving us ideas on why we grow what we do and how to use the harvest to the fullest. Amazing! Thanks, Laura!
I love the music when you and handsome Benjamin where planting I kept rewinding it. Lol he is soon cite. Can't believe how much he has grown. Day 1 follower
You Go Girl!!! You bring back such wonderful memories of when I was a young girl, and my Mom and Grandma would can everything in the gareden, plus berries, grapes, and apples. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
This is a whole new level of @GardenAnswer. 👏🏽 . Teaching or reminding us what to do with our harvest is like bringing the whole organic idea to a new level for our regular households. Thank you.
I think the reason I love to watch your videos vs other ones is because you have such a different variety of things happening each day/week! I loved watching you harvest your grapes and making the juice! How do you keep the birds from eating all those beautiful grapes?? I remember my grandfather having grapes and they had to place a net over them for protection.
I am so inspired watching you and learning a lot about plants and gardening tricks. I have planted some grapes for the birds. Next year, the birds will not be happy when I buy the steamer! Thank you For your hard work to support our passion.
Please don’t burn yourself out canning this year cause I hope to watch you doing this for years to come! You have SO much produce that I hope you choose to can or freeze? I tried to grow grapes and it was a miserable failure. How do you get blemish free fruit without spraying or anything??? I had so many wasp it was awful. Your grapes are picture perfect and the juice process with the steamer was the best thing since sliced bread!!! Keep turning out videos Laura! I love them all!!! ❤️
I use the steamer that’s been in my husbands family for generations so it’s not all shiny but has brought so much flavorful joy to our family. I use it mainly to juice fruits for jelly -chokecherries, crabapple, plums, and juneberry- yum! Enjoy this new tool for years and years to come. I hook the pincher closer to the spout and hang it on the handle so it doesn’t drip during processing.
WOW Really Loved this Video The canning of the Grape Juice was Awesome loved the planting also you and your Son are so sweet together Love it Keeping making these great Videos we Love them LOL

Laura and Aaron you have a beautiful life. I am so happy that you are sharing it with us all. I look forward to your videos everyday! Thank you 😊 You guys Rock!
I don’t know if white grape juice does this, but purple grape juice will grow tartaric acid crystals in the bottom of the jar over time in storage. So, don’t be alarmed if you find crystals in the bottom of a jar, they are harmless, just strain them out. They are a great homeschool lesson! PS I love how affirming you are of Benjamin. You always talk to him like his funny little kid ideas are gospel truth. That’s so kind and respectful!
Benjamin is such a darling and a good little worker too! It's such a joy to see him helping Laura in the garden. I think he may have the gardening gene☺

This was such perfect timing as my mom and I are going to pick gallons of grapes tomorrow to make juice this weekend! Thank you for sharing your process… I hope it’s as easy for us as you made it look! 🤗
Thank you Laura, you make canning so easy! Benjamin looks so tall. Happy wishes to all of you.
I've been watching for 5 years and had no idea until this video that you were in the Mountain time zone!
Yay ! More canning and harvesting. I Love it !❤❤❤😊😊
Any time you can spend with your children is so precious! It's worth more than all the money in the world! 🙂 💖
Fascinating! I never knew how to make grape juice now I do. Loving this harvest series..
I have rarely seen someone who is so multitalented.Ypur success is well deserved 🎉❤😊
Love seeing Benjamin gardening with you.
@@joanl2057 I am so interested in learning more about this process. I’ve not heard of this before!
I am in awe at how much you do. How do you do it all? You should do a vlog style video of what a typical day is like for you. Love your videos. ❤
When the weather gets warmer you could use the juice to make healthy popsicles for the kiddos. ♥️
LOVING the canning, juice making, jam making videos!
I’m so jealous. The dogs ate our grapes. 😢 I swear they have cast iron stomachs… silly dogs.
Was anyone else's mouth watering when Laura was showing us the grapes?? OMG! 😊
Makes great wine also!
Wow I had no idea you could make juice with a steamer. Thank you for teaching us. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻this is for Benjamin, great selection of plants.❤
I’m loving the preservation part of this channel. It’s like the wreath making, fairy gardens and craft projects: giving us ideas on why we grow what we do and how to use the harvest to the fullest. Amazing! Thanks, Laura!
Benjamin is such a sweet boy and a wonderful helper! It's crazy that I've been watching your channel daily since before he was even born. 😊❤
Oh my goodness, you should wear that blue shirt every day! It makes your eyes pop! Beautiful grapes too!
This whole process looked so cool and your grapes are so abundant! 😍🙌🏻🍇
I love the music when you and handsome Benjamin where planting I kept rewinding it. Lol he is soon cite. Can't believe how much he has grown. Day 1 follower
Thank you Laura for sharing your canning content! Love seeing how the garden can be food and joy
I like the canning videos as well. It really doesn’t matter what you all do…..we will watch. 😊
Thank you Mateo for sending Laura the Niagra Grapes. You represented PA very well. 😊
You Go Girl!!! You bring back such wonderful memories of when I was a young girl, and my Mom and Grandma would can everything in the gareden, plus berries, grapes, and apples. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
Glad to see Jacob helping. I raised three sons and two of the three took to gardening.
This is a whole new level of @GardenAnswer. 👏🏽 . Teaching or reminding us what to do with our harvest is like bringing the whole organic idea to a new level for our regular households. Thank you.
Love starting my days with Garden Answers!
Way to go Mateo! You definitely sent those grape vines to the right person. They look amazing, thank you for showing us the process Laura 😁
Oh Benjamin, I love those Iris you chose...gorgeous
What a Beautiful grape harvest...your entire garden is a spectacular bounty of beauty !
I am so inspired watching you and learning a lot about plants and gardening tricks. I have planted some grapes for the birds. Next year, the birds will not be happy when I buy the steamer! Thank you
For your hard work to support our passion.
I love watching you canned your produce..it gives me satisfaction that you can enjoy ur summer harvest thru the winter.
oh my, the color of that grape juice.... GORGEOUS like a flower!!!! Super enjoyable + informative video ❣
Wow what a fun easy way to make grape juice, love it❤
Loving the canning videos 💖💖
Laura ,Can On !! I don't know about anyone else. i learn something New😊,😮 all time and enjoy it 🎉Thanks
Laura, I think it is ver informative to see the planting, care and canning. I seems like a full cycle to me. Please keep it up.
These last few videos have been my favorite!! Thank you!
I am loving these videos that have a little canning and a little planting. The grape juice was such a beautiful color.
For additional hack to make it even more fun, do it outside. Steamer can make the kitchen very hot and steamy 😅. I do it on the grill every summer. I love it! Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴!
We make our grandkids popsicles from our grape juice. The kids love it. We love the steamer.
What a great idea!
Now we had too add a little bit of sugar to our popsicles , wasn’t as sweet as Laura’s was. But was still awesome.
Benjamin... asking about the Oregon Coast.. oh he LOVED that little trip you all took❤❤. He is so sweet. Let's shut the gate so they don't fall out. I don't want any of them to break. So sweet!❤
Laura and Aaron you have a beautiful life. I am so happy that you are sharing it with us all. I look forward to your videos everyday! Thank you 😊 You guys Rock!
A beekeeper would be so grateful for a little spot on your property. Amazing pollinator haven
Love your blue shirt . . . 👍 And Benjamin has lost a tooth! Rich!💰
Benjamin is such a darling and a good little worker too! It's such a joy to see him helping Laura in the garden. I think he may have the gardening gene☺
I have nephews aged 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 14, and it's so cute to hear Benjamin talk and think what phase he's in ☺️ You guys are doing great!
