You are having a great year, not sure how you are able to sleep. I live in Germany and will never, ever get to Half Moon Bay, been growing since 2002. My thought is if you have a chance go to HMB! Doesn't matter what place you get, thou I'm sure you will do very well it's the whole experience going there. Best of Luck Dawson Acres, I have my fingers crossed for you.
Those two big pumpkins look great. Not exactly sure where your 2560 Gienger sits, but if it goes 2,200+ lbs, you get a jacket for having one that large.
I'd if yall did the math but in the last video it was 2k already.. 4 more weeks, if it keeps it up this is gonna be a 2500lb fruit or better!! Nice job man! Thus is amazing!!
Why do you limit the size of your windscreen? It seems like the mature plants could use more space later in the season. Good luck from Ohio. I’ve been applying your methods to my luffa gourds.
@@rogerspreen I do have some plant that I’ve let run out of the fenced area. But at some point late in the year growing more plant might not help grow a big pumpkin. And I don’t have irrigation and the soil conditions beyond the 2k sq/ft area within the fence.
Great video! What kind of alcohol do you use on your pumpkins? Rubbing alcohol? This is my second year growing, and I've got a pumpkin that's around 300 pounds, but it got a bad case of sunscald and is beginning to get moldy. It's too ugly for much of anything, but I do want to save the seeds, so I'm trying to prolong the life of the fruit so that I ensure I have mature seeds. What would you (or other growers who see this) recommend? Should I try removing the moldy skin and try drying it out, then sprinkling it with sulfur powder? Or should I use alcohol? I tried doing research on whether I could mix sulfur and alcohol as a sort of paste and apply that to the entire area, but came up empty-handed. Alternatively, I'm curious about mixing a solution of neem oil and sulfur, so that it doesn't wash off as easily. I'll gladly welcome any and all advice in order to try to save my pumpkin! Thank you.
@@thegrandadmiral7963 you can scoop out the soft area if small and put sulphur powder on it and a fan 24/7. If the soft spot is too large it might be best to get the seeds out now before it rots.
@@dawson_acres Thanks for the advice! The mold spots are small right now (about the size of a quarter), so I'll try that. Sadly, the sunscald spots are very large, so what would you advise to prevent the mold from spreading, if anything?
@@thegrandadmiral7963 hard to say without seeing a picture. Go to BigPumpkins.com and post a picture and folks can help. If it’s rotting, probably scrape it, sulphur and a fan. If it’s surface level it might be ok for another couple weeks.
your farm is amazing, the pumpkins are so delicious, i want one too :))
Fantastic! Doing great work out west! Excited to see what they weigh for you!
Plants still look great, best of luck over the next month!
@@elidalton9755 thanks!
Let’s go Seymour 🙌 hope the next four weeks fly by, and hoping they live-stream Half Moon Bay
@@evanpagano thanks! Yeah I think they do stream HMB.

@@albuquerquegardening It kind of hit a second wind. Hopefully that translates to pounds!
