Never had a standard 1660 but bought a used 1660 Ti a few months ago. I have it in a 3600X system and, while it obviously can't keep up with the 3080 or the 2080, at 1080 or even 1440 with lower demanding games, it's still a solid card. I played a fair bit of Stray on that system as my 9700k/3080 system was taken apart the day Stray was released. I don't know that I'd personally recommend a 1660/Super/Ti at this point but if you have one, for many people, it might be good enough for another couple years, esp at 1080p.

    • @yasu_red

I have the standard one with an OC and the only game I've played that stressed it out has been Forza Horizon 5 with high/ultra settings, so it's definitely a solid 1080p GPU but I'd look for something else if I were getting something today.

A 1660 super should be good enough for another couple years at least at 1080p. Even my 1650 super is good enough at 1080p high unless the vram fills up :,-)

G'day cz guy, I agree with not recommending new, here in Australia New they are within $50AUD of RX6600 ($399AUD) a much better choice if you can afford it,
but if you don't mind used here they can be $250AUD & closer to used 1650Super than a Used 1660Super, with most wanting basically New $$$ for RX6600.
I also agree with Steve when he said "check for GTX1070 also" good advice here because they can quite often be the same price as the 1660 used.

I knew the CPU itself it's worth more than the asking price . When I opened it I realised that it had a 1660ti inside (albeit half inserted in the pcie slot), 16gb of ddr4 dual channel RAM, a 120gb sata SSD, and an old 320gb sata hdd ). Of course the system didn't post. The guy was only interested in the cash... the slots were waiting.

Been using a 1660 since I built my machine in 2020, ended up getting it for around $220-230 new right before prices got really crazy, and i'm totally capable of playing just about anything at 1080p, it's far from perfect, and newer games I tend keep more on the medium and lower end of settings, but being able to go back through the past couple generations of gaming and play stuff I used to play on 360/ps4 at higher settings/60+ fps is great. Plus, for anything with a little headroom, I can even push a 21:9 res and it still works great. Still having an i7 4790k and the 1660s in a mini itx case with a 400w psu. Upgrading the gpu to the next generation the 2000 series or beyond would exceed my PSU wattage and would have to get another PSU just to accommodate the new card, so I'm not about to spend unnecessarily esp when my current setup is still going strong, 60 fps in cyberpunk, and easily over 70- 80fps on everything else. For the wattage to performance ratio, the 1660s gives the best yield and balance of the entire line of nvidia cards.

My System was running on a 1660 from last year summer to this year spring. I was lucky to get one new for 280 Euros, while the entry level Graphiccards where at about 500 Euros. It did a good job in 1080p. I think it was a good gpu back then and even today it is a quite good entry level gpu.

For reverence the same exact card cost around 1.800,00 Reais today, it was a bargain, and for that price I can't really complain, its has been able to run every single game in 1080p at mid/high settings.

This was the card I want to buy back in 2020 to replace my 1050 ti. I was fiddling between 1660 super and 5600 xt. But then lots of reviews outlet said better wait for next gen gpu to arrive, So I wait and got absolutely blindsided by pandemic and crypto boom.
In the end I decided to save up my savings while weathering the storm and see what future pricing might shape up.
Then, coincidentally rx 6600 just got down way below msrp last 2 weeks, Like 270 dollars here. That's why I bought it and feels very satisfied my patience is handsomely rewarded.

I've heard some people state that the 1650 Super performed better due to the GDDR6. Not sure how true that is. Probably not, unless in very specific circumstances.
Still a solid card but not cost-effective. The RTX 2060 is probably the most cost-effective for new Nvidia cards where I am.

I think you picked a great title for the video, the 1660 was never a terrible card mind you, and at the time it was viable card for the price. But in the aftermath of the GPU shortage and subsequent scalper prices, the Super and Ti models can be found for basically the same price, along with high end Pascal cards like the 1070, 1070 Ti, and even 1080. As well as some respectable mid-range AMD cards such as the RX 5600 XT or 5700 non-XT for $10-20 more on average

1650 and 1660 are trash because they're literally just overclocked 1050 Ti and 1060 using Turing architecture; even the 1650 GDDR6 and 1660 Super aren't really much better. Only the 1650 Super and 1660 Ti are actually worth getting since they're much faster than 1050 Ti and 1060 - the 1650 Super is even faster than the 1060 in some games while 1660 Ti trades blows with the 1070.
