I grew up in a time when games were considered good at 30 fps. I still played doom on a 386dx 40, so I'm used to the grief.
in this regard, 30 fps are perfectly fine.
I myself prefer to play with higher settings at 30 fps than 60 fps, but the quality is poor.
as you always say, 30fps in a single player game and with one controller is playable.
everything that doesn't stutter is playable!

    • @gamertechlive1780
      @gamertechlive1780 2 года назад +5

Agreed 30fps is the lowest playble.
      60fps is decent.
And anything below 30fps is unplayable due to stuttering, delay and random freezes or slow-motion movement.
But 30fps should be average fps not maximum fps.
Well today 100+ fps is the lowest target for competitive budget gamer at 1080p.
People are not staying out of 60fps and considered 120+fps as new norm.

@@gamertechlive1780Hmm it massively depends from person to person. Speaking about Single player games from my POV, 30 FPS is definitely playable for single player games if it gets 30 all of the time while locking it using the app called River Tuner Statistics Server. Basically a River Tuner app comes along with MSI Afterburner. A locked 30 FPS is lot better than fluctuated higher FPS with horrible frame time graph, also if a game gets 60+ FPS most of the time then locking to 60 FPS is a way better option and you won't need more than 60 FPS in a single player titles.

Mostly because a 2 year older card, the rx 570 outperformed it by 20% and was same price, the only pro side of the 1650 over the rx 570 was that it consumed half the watts and rx 570 was widely avaiable, now though I dont really see the 570 and when I do is always 20% more in price so the 1650 can now shine on its own.
the rx 6400 would have been a good competition had it not had the pci3 issue and also no encoder.

2 years ago I custom ordered a PC just for music production in my studio. I maxed out the CPU with the (then) best Ryzen 5950x, maximum RAM and SSDs in RAID to load huge sample libraries of multiple gigabytes per instrument - I chose the cheapest graphics card that was passive and could handle 3 monitors. The whole thing was silent and water cooled as well. Perfect for making music...
But the card I picked was this, the GTX 1650 - and now I'm thinking I want to play a few games, and it doesn't sound like it is too bad for basic gaming in lower settings. Awesome! Cards have come on so far now that even these older basic cards are still excellent.
I started using computers and gaming since the ZX Spectrum in the early 80s. Then I got an Atari ST, then finally a PC early 90s, a couple years after that and a few upgrades I chucked in a 3DFX Voodoo.. it was mind-blowing at the time!
Haven't really gamed much since then. I think end of this year after I sell my home and move, I'm going to go all out and get a maxed out PC and get back into gaming.

For GTA, I found the most intensive area is areas with a lot of grass, the place that always kills my frames is the twisty route that you must take when doing the Prison Break heist as the prison officer role. There is a large grass area and driving over it just kills my frames. I could drop like 30 or so frames there.
EDIT: I don't have a 1650 card so the FPS drop will probably be different.

As of 2023 I'm building a new PC because my 1650 just can not really cope anymore. It seems to be literally bugging more and more and glitching.

It's possibly time to upgrade if you have a 1650, even at 1080p. The next gen of games will probably be too much for this card but if you bought it in 2019 you've had 4 decent years at 1080p for about £170.

My gtx1650 has recently dropped available graphics memory. Is this a sign of this card getting weak?

Great video, hope to see it compare with the RX 6400 in the future

3 years ago the 1650 was my first build/intro to pc gaming. I specifically built it for smite/valorant and it did a wonderful job at it! I was able to run 1440p or 1080p @120fps easily. I upgraded to Microcenter prebuilt and will be passing down my 1650 build to my younger cousins. I think i paid $190 for my 1650 gpu and id say it was worth it. Not sure how itll do with triple A games since i played most of them on my ps5
