      @@jareddavidmanifold313 not everyone can afford to buy new with warranty though. And I've been ripped off before with warranties. There's always fine print that you don't know about until you need to use it. For me buying used is best for me because I don't even know if I want to keep what I'm buying. so i was a store mananger at gamestop and i left last april. and we were told in a team meeting that the reason why they use magic earser is so that when the person who buys the system and wants to trade the system back we can take it back for less for "damaged" which you lose like $50-$75 on the trade so then we would have to send it to get "refurbished"

    • @diy_mushroomguy
      @diy_mushroomguy Год назад +4

      It's not the act, it's the type of plastic being used. It's prone to scratches. That's why they always put that plastic over it because it would be just scratched up from the boxing and shipping of the console. I know I've sat games and even controllers while charging on top of my consoles. Honestly best thing to do is buy decals and put them on as soon as you buy a new console. I'm thinking of taking mine apart and airbrushing whatever on mine.

      That's fair, I think the issue is more about the price for what you're getting. There probably shouldn't only be a $40 difference between a sealed brand new console and this monstrosity. They're also selling the console like it's been thoroughly repaired and tested to ensure the buyer is getting a like-new experience, which is clearly not the case. This console's chances of having issues in the future are much, much higher than a new machine.

      People that work at GameStop refurbishing these consoles have told me that they use magic erasers.

    • @DannyTheEditor
      @DannyTheEditor Год назад

      Yeah I agree that magic eraser can be perfect for certain scratches, but it's very very easy to put just a little too much pressure in and make it look worse than before you tried to fix it. And based on the scratches on this Series X it's pretty clear that the guy working on it put a bit more pressure than a light once over lol. It's possible they use a super fine sandpaper but that's basically the same thing as magic eraser so I doubt the results would be any different between the two, given GameStop's handling of their refurb consoles.

    • @rp71284
      @rp71284 Год назад

      There's a good chance that they 1) aren't soaking the Magic Erasers first and just using them dry, 2) are using the heavy duty ones or 3) have been told to put as much pressure on these cleanings as you would if you were scrubbing a white wall with one. A wet Magic Eraser wouldn't do that sort of damage.

    Wow a scratched up refurb from GameStop. Super fresh and original content. Even the commentary on the weird packaging has been done a thousand times on YT.

    Magic eraser cannot do that. It’s fine grit sans paper that they are using

    If you use magic eraser properly on consoles it can look really good

    I got a Xbox one S a few months ago cause I’ve been a PlayStation guy and wanted to have one available, when I got it it came in a One X pre owned box, the controller was weirdly sticky, had a Nintendo HDMI cord, wasn’t wiped and had like 6 accounts on it, and was more then 500 GB which is what I ordered, but it works completely fine, despite the fan being dirty as hell

    How can they sell refurbished Series X's for $480 when they're $500 new? Last holiday season they were on sale for $350.

    I was always skeptical about buying refurbished consoles from game stop and I doubt if you get a warranty on them. Sucks 😡
