I like your intro. Great take on sharpening, that there isn't ONE right way to do things. People should try several ways to do anything to learn what works best for them. I do the same on my channel.
By the way, I upgraded my K02 to the K03 and I am even happier with the system than I was before.

I received my Gunny Juice today (3,1,and .5 micron bottles) and have started to apply them . I find using small brush is a better way to apply a thin coat (on Nano cloth strops ) .
My question is this . Should I use a different brush for each micron size or how would you clean the brush to only have 1 brush to use for all micron sizes ?
What do you recommend ? Thanks for your reply

@@GunnysSharptalk On your recommendation, I picked up at my local Hobby Lobby a 3" x 24" x 3/8ths" strip of basswood for 5 bucks. They also have balsa and birch, all in a bunch of different sizes. HL's milling finish on their woods is excellent, really smooth.
BTW, I plan to use the full 24-inch length. Only about 10-12 inches or so covered in compound, but in handling the piece I found cradling it on the inside of my forearm with the end nestled between my elbow and rib cage to be comfortable with very good control where I can easily see how the edge is set on the surface of the board. I also lightly crowned the edges with high-grit sandpaper for a nice comfortable grip.
I've got two Venev bench stones, 240 + 400 and 800 + 1200. For finishing and maintenance, which of your two Gunny Juices would you recommend for the two sides of the basswood?
After this, I think my sharpening kit will be set.

You can use the same angle with light pressure. If you find that you dull your edge drop it about 1/2 a degree. Most can keep it the same, but some find they get a better edge lowering it some.

Is it better to stop right after applying the diamond spray or let it dry first then strop?
I got some Gunny Juice 0.25 to use on a new 2-sided paddle. I was planning on having one side natural and one side coated with 0.25. In addition to that question, I am now wondering if I should have diamond stropping solution on both sides instead of leaving one side natural. If so, would I be better off making the other side 0.5 or go the other way to 0.1?
I just got 2 new DMT stones (Extra Coarse/Coarse and Fine/Extra Fine) so I got a new stropping paddle to go with it. Within the next few days, I plan to do all of my culinary cutlery, which consists of about a dozen knives. Not having ever used diamond spray before, I decided to check out this video. Now I don't know if I should prepare my strop well in advance to be nice and dry or apply the solution just before using when it is still wet.

Thank you for your video. Have a few questions. Do you have a preferred strop material for gunny juice? About how many applications would you get from a 10ml on a 6x1 tsprof strop, general range 5, 10, 50...? When your using a bushcraft knife, would you stop at let's say 3 micron instead of going to 0.1?

I use basswood a lot. And now I have come out with a new stropping material. It’s still undetermined if I will keep that around or not. I am getting excellent results and the science is there for this material, but I need the average sharpener to get exceptional results with it. So we shall see. As far as how many applications, it will vary significantly from person to person. I haven’t counted, but this stuff lasts quite awhile.

I bought 3 Jende nanocloth's to use with the Gunny Juice. The nanocloth soaked up so much emulsion. Very disappointed in the nanocloth. Doesn't work very well and a waste of money.
Then I used the Gunny Juice on the smooth side of a leather strop. Only needed a small amount. Much better than the nanocloth.
Now I need to buy more Gunny Juice cause I wasted so much on the nanocloth.

Given the nature of what knives are commonly used for, cooking, the risk is now introduced to any exposed to the food. But, at the same time, the amount in that regard must be such an incredibly low amount, that it would be hard to evaluate. All that said, it seems the method the diamonds, and other compounds are used that are known hazardous, such as aluminum and chromium oxides, it may be worth considering practices that would mitigate the risks. i have no real medical or scientific background, but it seems rather logical that microscopic diamonds would not be the best thing inside. it seems they could do quite a bit of damage to not only blood vessels, but organs, such as kidneys, and things such as the heart, brain, and eyes. not sure what mechanical processes the body may use to counter it, if any, but that's why i am asking. the compounds seem to be used by any i've seen use them, without any concern of risks. okay, with that out of the way, i'm not trying to say this is a giant deal. i would imagine 'you'll be fine' is probably an accurate statement given the usage of these things. but i am curious. and i am also curious about things such as micro graphene molecules and other super engineered things used. i know it's risky to handle carbon fiber for the same reasons. 9999/10000 it's not a realistic factor, but there is potential.
