Good one! I'll be working on it!
This should be fun.
@@branch_preparedness Looking forward to it James.
Call out all of them!!! Corporal Corner, Dan Wowcak, Dave Canterbury, and the Ranger Survival as well. Give it to them Blackie, lol 😂. Also include James Townsend &Son for a little history challenge. Keep up the good work Blackie and God bless.
Excellent idea. @blackiethomas definitely Townsend and Son lol. any of the bigger channels and some smaller ones.
And from the U.K - Hidden Valley Bushcraft, TA Outdoors, & Greencraft
Please call out all of these and Bear! @BEAR”SOLDWAYZ
Don't forget Dave Pearson AKA reallybigmoney1 and Survival Lily.
I like the Townsends idea.
Let’s throw in James from Junkyard Fox for some desert haversack load out.
Surplus guy calls out Hobo. Gotta be fun. I’ll be watching Waypoint for sure.
OH, I can't wait for this!! 😮 James just got called out lol!! This gonna be good!!
That UCO knife/fork/spoon set will also snap together end to end to make a long handle spoon for stirring the pot. Something Blackie wouldn’t know anything about, right, James?!😂
ok i get it, but, way to many bought items, matches, lighters, to many commercial items. mate, down here we have to make stuff that will do and it works. re-use, recycle. im pretty sure James will call ya and go hells better...
Thank you for the mention Blackie and for all the information that you shared with me at the KY Expo. I really like those one wind products!
Blackie, Great Project also Great Load Out on what is in your Haversack . Can't wait to see James has in his . Thanks Again for sharing.
A canteen would make a great addition
Right about water and water purification. Maybe that goes in the Etc. column where he says food and whatever items he will need for any given day and set of activities?
Waypoint is always on point.
I love your content and I love your thumbnails. What do you use to make them?
Fantastic work! Call out junkyard fox
Nice! Blackie & James. 2 of the best.
How about Dan at Coalcracker Bushcraft?
I like the idea of having the bushcraft zip ties. Great kit, Blackie! Excited to see what everyone is carrying. God bless!
Please call out @WoodsboundOutdoors! Between you and him, I have learned so much. I just know a collaboration or some-such between you all would be golden wisdom!
Blackie, this should be a great series..call out Wendell from Prepared Wanderer, Matt from Blackhat Bushcraft, Dave from Really Big Monkey, Boone Dockery
Love how well you’re organized! I learn much from you brother. 👍🏻
Nice loadout, Blackie! Have a good one.
I subscribe to several of the outdoor "how to" channels and have picked up several new tricks and really enjoy your black powder videos . One thing I have noticed is the obsession of redundancy for starting a fire .
Corporal Kelly
Call out Shawn Kelly of Corporal"s Corner.
He doesn't use a haversack, only what fits in his Alice pack. Besides, give him his Hardcore Hammer ax, some bank line, a poncho and maybe a couple of trash bags and he'll build you a camp with 5 star accommodations..of yeah..better add some bacon to that list.
Good loadout. The only thing I would add is a Stop the Bleed kit for traumatic bleeding. I always have one with me - in my Jeep, as well as in whatever pack or haversack I’m carrying, regardless of whether I’m in an urban or rural environment. A traumatic bleed is one of the few things that won’t wait for an ambulance or ER without an appropriate first response. Even carrying just a tourniquet would be better than no traumatic bleed kit at all (improvised tourniquets with a belt and a stick or whatever are rarely successful).
Blackie didn't mention it specifically but the orange bandana works as a tourniquet among what he did list.
Those Opinel knives are incredible. That UCO cutlery set is one of the best on the market IMO.
The Opinel #8 knife, fork, and spoon combo is a great kit, I have one. I think it’s called the picnic.
Here in B'ham, my local Wallyworld don't got no UCO CUTERRY now. Ain't seen none fer goin' on a while.
(Southern boys understand the above just fine. Even the cooth ones)
Can't do it; broke my back trying to do it. That broke my spirit. getting around sucks.
I’ve followed your channel for a number of years Blackie and you had some really useful insights and information, but the past 2 or so years, I’ve been somewhat disappointed.
Case in point, you are showing an awful lot of stuff in that haversack you’re carrying, but who, realistically, needs half that stuff for a simple day hike?
Instead of “challenge” or show and tell, do a show and use video, several miles back in the woods and spend the night.
Yes, I understand you were showing the contents for others to see. Do I believe you were an avid hiker/camper back in the day? Most definitely, without question.
Here’s my “challenge” to you and everyone else. Take your haversack and walk 5-8 miles out in the woods. Not at your local range, back yard or property, but in a state forest/park and do an overnight using all your gear, in a realistic situation.
Call out Dave Canterbury. Let's see what he has in his pack.
Thumbs up.
This is good content. I came here from WayPointSurvival to check out the contrast. Each of your haversacks seems about the same volume.
Nice to hear gun shots in the background……it is the sound of freedom…..don’t have to apologize for this . Your channel is famous for this , in fact I’m sure that every video of yours comes with the sounds of people having a good time excerizing their 2nd amendment right….I love it!
Not a critique at all, as an almost daily woodsbum trapper in season. That has got very wet in freezing cold temps too many times.
The smallest Sterno gelled alcohol can is hard to beat for emergency quick fire starter with cold wet shaking hands.
A small glob of the gel on not so dry tinder will burn. A real fire starting video under very adverse wet cold conditions would be cool. A simulation is ok as long as the adverse conditions are accurate. Make fire in the rain, snow or after climbing out of the frozen water you fell through setting beaver traps. With waders full of water. A Mylar blanket and small fire have more than once got me warm enough to trek out or a better spot to dry out. Just my idea of a cool video I don't see much of. Cheers!
Awesome kit. Nice meeting you at the expo in KY. Bless you brother
What are you running in your backpack? For down to 20 degrees above zero. Say over night.
Wow, no offense but you packed a fork (which could be made in the woods) but no pot, plate or water bottle. That just don’t make sense to me….. even if you packed a ziplock bag with some toilet paper and a few water purification tablets and threw out a few of the fire starting things that would have made more sense to me.
This is a pretty interesting game. Hope the whole bushcraft community becomes a part of this.
It's been a while since I've seen a inter-channel challenge. This is going to be both fun and interesting!
So many ways and reasons for packs. I don’t understand what ur “ calling out”
Love the Opinel Carbon. Excellent setup Blackie.
Amazing video, thanks, Blackie.
I love waypoint but!
I want to see waypoint survival actually do an overnighter in the woods, all we have seen of him so far is him talking about kit and how to use it but we have never to my knowledge ever seen him staying out for the night?
You showed the knife and said it's a good flint striker are you talking about a ferro rod everyone is calling ferro rods flint now days not the same as flint and steel
Sorry for being unclear/ nieve, but what is this used for ? Just came across your video by chance? Is this a camping setup, a bushcraft day bag , a day hiking bag , or a everyday type bag ? How or when would you use such a bag/contents? I am under the impression you carry this regular as a out and about guy in the outdoors nature?
I know that patch on your shirt of which it's an explorer's shirt
Come on man all the lighters where is the flint and steel and char cloth that's and tinder is all that you will find in my haversack for fire starting
A hobo vs wat ?
Who cares?
Not me
Wy you ask ?
Well its just point you look at .
Haversacks are dumb, Blackie your awesome!
Haversacks are dumb, Blackie your awesome!

What flashlight was that?
Ozark trails, they were at Walmart my son bought me one.
Call out Matt Marcer from Blackhat Bushcraft
Water? Food? Container to boil water?
No other room in there.
Challenge Preparedmind 101.
Looking forward to what James is packing..in ohio with me..good stuff Blackie!
didn't see anything about water purification?
I'm in Alabama! I'd love to link up with you sometime!
👍🏼🥰thank you, blackie
So you don't bring a bath kit? No tp?
striker, but no fire steel? did I miss it?
call out Dave Cunterberry
Jaime Burleigh
A very well thought out kit!
Call out Dakota of the Woods
I wanna see these two box. My money is on Blackie.😂❤
Call Out, David Canterbury!
You come off like a ....
Corporal C's head is getting so big I believe it's going to explode. Better people to follow than him.
All the guy does now is sell you shit from his store. Everyone who follows him is insufferable and intolerant to criticism, they can't admit that his content well dried up over a year ago. All that's left is cashgrab.
I have two bollocks in my tiny manbag.
Good video Blackie, thanks for sharing YAH bless !
Blackie rules.
Jason Salyer
🇨🇵 opinel knife 🇨🇵
This will be fun.
Welp... that's it.... The bushcraft community is about to become a successful friction fire.
Lol.... ive seen his rage induced facebook posts😂, but up till now, i didnt know Blackie had any aggressive bones left in his body😂😂😂
Blackie keeps it simple and always concise. Just emptied out my go-bag yesterday to inventory and replace used supplies. I won't miss an episode. Thanks Blackie for being F-ing A.
Another great video as usual.
WELLLLL, to be honest, - - - I leave the house with nothing but a bottle ot water w/electrolyte.
What I come back with is whatever I feel like stickiing in it. I use it for collecting "things" and "stuff" on my hikes in the wild! BUT, I still have "everything" I might need carried elsewhere.
I have plans to add 2 straps and "D" rings to keep the flap secured.
Blackie I 'd like to see you call out Ernie at the PaleoMDHiker and Wendel Adams at The Prepared Wanderer for this challenge. Be wl my friend! Bill Doyle in Upr Grnwd k, NJ
An interesting conflict between different promotions, each individual has their own uptake on the needs for survival and carry.
As a veteran and past scout leader, I know what I need to do, but is always interesting to find different views.
1. I enjoy Blackie for some of his modern take of some survival stuff.
But....
2. I enjoy James Bender and his Hobo and no nonsense ease of equipment and use of the ability of using past times to fit with today’s times, his is a superb viewing.
3. I enjoy the great personal ways the Corporal for his simple in the bush/forest survival as it is needed without filling pockets with unnecessary added items.
A great show of what can be done with minimal gear.
4. Dave Canterbury for his easy methods of using different items that fit the occasion.
5. Dave West shows the means to help your methods of survival.
Blackie… sure is great timing for this tag challenge. I’m sure that many folks are going through their load out as they move into more springtime outdoor activities. I’m curious about what you might carry in your spring and summer haversack for preventing and treating insect bites and ticks? I realize that you did not include the weight of food and water in this kit, I assume you still run a military canteen and canteen cook set on your belt? Thanks for sparking everyone’s interest. We will see what James comes up with. I’d challenge Black Hat Bushcraft or ol’ Dave Canterbury himself on this tag. - Tennessee Smoky
nice
Love my Blackbird! Call out Dave Canterbury and the Prepared Wanderer.
🎉🎉
Man, guess I need to work on my haversack kit because I have an entire camp stuffed in mine with fire kit, water filtration, cook kit, shelter kit, small packing rain kit, fishing kit, food, first aid, saw, cordage, etc. never really use it, tho. I'm a big, strapping lad, so I almost always have a full pack on, plus waist bag with water bladder and thigh bag, so I can carry comfort. I think I've only ventured out with the haversack a handful of times
Very nice loadout on the Haversack. What a great callout on the gear
coalcracker just showed a couple of 'what you should bring' to his classes, i would like to see what he carries on him
I have written your haversack contents down in Rite in the Rain notebooks; even from your old videos. Very good for getting my ruck as light and simple as it can safely be. Thanks Blackie.
Nice set up ,Blackie. Interested to see what James has to offer. Jamie Burleigh I would also be interested in seeing.
Good stuff Blackie .... You are a gem with all your great content ...
I just don’t know on this one BT, he is a MacGyver kind of guy.
hey Blackie it';s got to be Canterbury!!!
Got the firekit covered, that's for sure. Alright Bender, do it to it.
I see we are like minded on the necessity of fire making redundancies.👍
If you don't eat it will definitely not be cause you can't start a fire!!
Would love to see a ground-pounder or truck camper overnighter video.
Great load out blackie it will be cool to see what jim runs
Did I miss a ferrorod? Or just opting to not have one?
He had at least three methods there, but ferro rods are light and handy, too. Although I’ve practiced with them, I’ve never actually used a ferro rod in the field. My el cheapo Bic lighters have never failed me - and I always carry two, just in case. 😊
@@kellydiver I am all for easy, and bic lighters are great. I just asked because he stated twice that he had way to strike a ferro rod (Opinel spine and 4-sided striker) so I caught myself wondering if I missed something.
@@rballwv True! Good catch. 👍🏼
This is great, can't wait to see how this plays out.
