I like it. if I were younger I would get one. my outdoors days are over now. my body can not take it . I just hope others will use them and like them. keep up the good work. God bless.
Nice! I have a full kit in my backpack but I always end up carrying my haversack from hidden woodsmen. I WANT ONE of these. So many well thought out and useful features.
Seriously well thought out piece of kit. A loop of paracord (a second component of a buck saw) run through one of the holes in the blade, would make extracting the blade quicker, and reduce the grab and scoot by 50% 😉
I WANT ONE. A left handed model would be preferred, even though I’m right handed. I’ve come to learn to use left handed gear so things don’t interfere with my right hand sidearm. But as the saying goes, “Strike while the iron is hot”, and take what you can when you can. I would be more than happy to be able to buy this haversack from you, sir. This is going to be one fine piece of kit. Thanks, Blackie. I’ve learned a lot from you. Keep it up.
I WANT ONE. I'm still a beginner at the whole busch craft stuff and love everything about it. The stuff i have learned so far, its been fantastic. Love the videos. Keep up the good work.
Blackie, your design is the best I've seen, bar none. And the backpack conversion is a stroke of pure genius. I'll have to catch the 2nd run though. I had an accident in May that resulted in a broken neck. So funds going for that and I'm still recovering from paralysis, so I can't hit the woods again for months. Keep up the awsome work, and I'll use the time to watch and learn until I get able to hear leaves crunch under my boots. May the Lord bless and keep you and your family safe.
Blackie, that bag is one heck of a well thought out multi purpose bushcrafting tool I wish I had. I hope and pray it will go into production for all to have. In the future I will get one without a doubt, that is one great bag, Blackie.
Blackie, i may never have met you, but you are certainly a kindred spirit. We both spent a lot of time in the woods over the years. I very much enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for all your effort over the years. Keep up the good work, and dont quit. Keep your powder dry buddy.
I WANT ONE. I’m learning a lot from you, and i thank you. I especially like the strap designs- using it as a belt pouch, and the angle and ring buckles.
I WANT ONE! Really like your design. After watching your video of the Campcrarft Woodsman I went Down and Dirty and made one from a pants leg. Zero cost and a little hand sewing time but I love your features.
I got bored counting after 100 lol. There's 45 years experience right there! Unfortunately I live in the UK but that's the best haversack I have ever seen. Well done. I hope you do make a lot of money on them as you pass on so much valuable knowledge for free. God bless you.
Blackie, I have a great appreciation for anything that's done through years of experience. I would have enjoyed seeing this as just yours, so thank you for trying to give people an opportunity at something you have so much time wisdom and dedication to.
I like it a lot, I made something similar to it some years ago for the daughter of a friend to use at scouts, but I made the most strap longer and double sided with velcro to use as a cache so she could keep secret things young girls need to have hidden. But it is great to see you having it made.
OF COURSE "I WANT ONE"!!! This is why I follow seasoned pros like yourself. I have had brainstorms like this in my 70 years also, but didn't commit to make them happen. Excellent job Sir.
Love to have one. I really enjoy the content. You and a few others really helped me get threw a hard time in my life. Just getting on youtube on watching these videos gave me an escape from my problems. We lost everything 10 years ago and lived out of a camper for a long time. My wife and two boys that was tuff.
Blackie out of all of the you bushcrafters I can count on one hand the number that I can honestly say that I respect their ideas and teaching and sonny jim you are number one ...And if I were in need of a new haver sack I would be first in line to buy one, however I can't see where I need another one, First I built the one you did in your video, but jeeest a tad bit bigger.. Worked great, then I added a map pouch that work like a dream. But I still use the 3day training butt pack that I modified. All that said I hope that you sell a thousand of the blackbirds
Thank you for teaching me everything I want to know about Bushcraft and survival you have taught me a lot and I'm grateful for it appreciate the work you do on RUclips ❤️❤️
As a woman who has carried a cross body purse like this...I would recommend netting on each side of the inside. Or you might end up dumping the entire bag on the ground to find something.
Sign me up, I WANT ONE! Awesome features! Would love to see a collab with pathfinder outfitters and others! Definitely in the shadow of Nessmuk! Well done sir!
if you put D rings on both sides it can then go any way, also means the strap can be any length or cut down and replaced easily. Nice Bag Cheers from NZ
Blackie, not gonna lie, I have kinda cloned this bag and made the best laptop bag to carry back and forth to work. When people ask where I got it, I tell em I made it from watching your yt channel.. i used 10oz canvas with 2" wide military grade web for strap. I did wind up using filson wax to rub into canvas and melt with heat gun.. the fold over flap with zipper really gets people interested..
genius, Blackie.. personal customization is the way of any experienced technician. We're all different, and its difficult to find something essential that is built around all of your own needs. Answer; built it yourself!
I'm surprised you didn't make the the bottom more square and flat so it sits upright without falling over like the one you demoed awhile back. Also that pocket for your smaller folding saw. I WANT ONE.
Blackie...you are many and I mean many that live in the south and live off the land. Most don't and don't need to broadcast about sharing the land. You are marketing a target group..You are a marketing genius...
You've done a great job designing this haversack, Blackie! I own two Rothco haversacks (ammo bags, really) and at best they are adequate for field use. That belt sleeve for a buck saw blade is ingenious. I am not a 100% proponent for haversacks in that most of them tend to slide with forward bending movement which gravity is the culprit. I resolved that by sewing D-rings on each bottom corner to which I attach an extra strap (luggage strap that is detachable). The bag usually remains at the small of my back where it does not interfere with any shooting position whether I'm standing or prone, even if I have to lie on my side. Anyway, this bag is a brilliant design and I WANT TWO of them, one for me and I will gladly pay for Just A. American, who is suffering from a broken neck injury. At $75 a custom design by Blackie Thomas is a bargain; just sign mine, please!
As a permanent piece of gear for that sleeve, I'd use a spare ferro rod and striker. Maybe you can wrap some masking tape around the ferro rod to cover the sawblade when you return it
I like it. if I were younger I would get one. my outdoors days are over now. my body can not take it . I just hope others will use them and like them. keep up the good work. God bless.
safe journeys
Nice! I have a full kit in my backpack but I always end up carrying my haversack from hidden woodsmen. I WANT ONE of these. So many well thought out and useful features.
Sounds great!
Seriously well thought out piece of kit. A loop of paracord (a second component of a buck saw) run through one of the holes in the blade, would make extracting the blade quicker, and reduce the grab and scoot by 50% 😉
Which also could be used for the blade tensioner on your field made bucksaw.

Seriously brilliant, Blackie... I WANT ONE
some clever innovations here
the strap double sew with waterproof ripstop as an inner lining where the blade goes might work?
Great design! A lot of thought went into this.
Pretty cool!..... I WANT ONE
I WANT ONE!!!
Heck yeah I want one!! That is some of the best features I've seen in a haversack! Well thought out sir! Well thought out!
Will most definitely be starting up a "get me a Blackie bag fund",IMMEDIATELY!!!Thanks for all you do for us!!
Awesome! Thank you!
As a permanent piece of gear for that sleeve, I'd use a spare ferro rod and striker. Maybe you can wrap some masking tape around the ferro rod to cover the sawblade when you return it
Good tip!
Awesome, very cunning with years of experience. Nice piece of equipment that will do you for a day trip to a long camp.
