Possibly look at a tablet device like the Samsung. Ok for light editing on the go.

Nice video. Good seeing an unbiased video with honest findings (from a photographer as well). I’ve literally just purchased one and can see this being the machine to move me away from my Apple addiction. Good stuff 👍🏻

When I chose an XPS 15 two years ago to replace my 2013 Macbook Pro, it was mainly because of the excellent 4K screen and the possibility to spec it up. I must say, it has been and still is a bliss to retouch photos on this labtop.
From reviews on RUclips I already knew, that the fan would be loud, when pressed to work hard. After watching your presentation, I will definitely try the power settings you suggest and see, if I will notice any difference in the performance.
Five months ago I had to change the battery, that had been working all the time in ultra performance mode. That is the only issue I have had with this labtop. Otherwise - I don't regret my choise, even though it is very noisy at times, when working with layout and photos I leave too many programs open at the same time.
XPS 15 is a great solution for photographers. But not the only one.

I have been using the Dell XPS series since 2016 and absolutely love it. Make sure Windows 10 is up to date and buy a £15 laptop cooling pad and the fan will hardly ever kick in.

Have the Dell XPS 17 (9700), which is almost similar to XPS 15, just a little bit taller. Has similar HW specs (64 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 8 cores UHD display). Use it primarily for software development, but also for Lightroom. I just really enjoy it, especially looking at the gorgeous 16:10 display (handles reflections really well, which was my main concern about this machine).

Yes, I nearly went for the 17 but I need it for travel a lot. But the 17 and the 15 and the 13 I feel are just lovely machines.

Thinking about one of the new white ones :) Your comments about the keyboard feel are impressive considering that the Surface Book has one of the best keyboards on a laptop. Really happy they put a full size SD card reader in it as a lot of laptops these days just have micro SD or nothing at all.

Hey Kevin, just found this! Just ordered a 2021 XPS15 with 32GB Ram, 2TB hard drive and I have gone for the OLED screen. We will use it for photo and video editing (in conjuction with our BenQ 32" as needed) and also for my sales training business , where I really need to be on Windows. We have a CalDigit Thunderbolt doc, so should be able to easily swap between this and our Macbook. Thoughts on the OLED vs the regular IPS panel?

Nice review Kevin! I purchase a Dell 17 XPS 9700 (i7 10875H, GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q, FHD+ (1920 x 1200) Display), but I have an issue with the Intel Graphics Comand Center. When trying to 'Restore to Original Colors' I get a black screen. The only way to go back to my normal screen is to connect an external monitor or to unplug the external monitor if one is connected. This is the second XPS 9700 unit with the same issue and Dell Tech support has not been able to solve the issue. Have you had any issues with resetting color defaults on the Intel Command Center App?
