I keep hearing more stories of the parents being the ones finding their kids. Kind of disturbing if they're beating law enforcement to these discoveries more often...

My mom had me when she was 18. She was out of school and my dad was a year younger and still had his senior year to get throygh. They used birth control. It broke. My dads parents didn't want to help them out, wouldn't co-sign for a car or apartment. My moms parents let them live at their house, consigned for a car and apartment. They were married for over 26 years. Even though my dad treated her like trash. So it isn't something just happening in current times, this was back in the late 60's. I can't imagine having a baby at that age. My life was just starting. I didn't have my kids until my 30's. I'm glad I waited.

Why is everyone saying “no one should let your child be pregnant at 16”. No one even knows how they reacted when they first found out. You don’t know how she got pregnant. Why does everyone start judging and jumping to conclusions of their own, when they don’t even know the full story.
This is a huge country we live in. Attitudes from the majority of people are way different than Georgia. That state thinks law should forbid a person to lay a 15 year old. California is the most populated state in the union. California sees people who lay 17 year olds as child Moe Lesters. The Georgia flag has the stars and bars in it, but the people in the Southeast think California law is funny. California has a law against selling anything with the stars and bars on it.
If this is in Texas, then abortion is illegal. So baby daddy got to pay up for playing around with her and didn’t want to.

Male children and female children at my parents' house were expected to be indoors after 8:00 p.m. because after the sun goes down, nobody can see if someone's doing something to them. If we didn't obey, and my old man noticed it, we got belted.

In many poor countries they marry and have children young, because even just 150 years ago the life expectancy was very low compared to today.
I grew up with Mexican farmworkers so I know that in many areas of Mexico this is acceptable. Particularly the poorer rural areas and indigenous peoples of Chiapas, Oaxaca, Veracruz etc.

The age of consent In Georgia is 16 years old. Whether or not we agree with it doesn’t change the fact that it’s the law.
A respectable adult would think this is weird and wrong as 15 and 16 is very much a child and 20 is definitely in a different life stage.
And if you truly wanted to bring in the terms of legality, it would be seen as a misdemeanor if he was above the age of 18 and she was 15 at the time of conception - this is more than likely what happened as she was 7 months pregnant and the quinceanera pictures are still being given focus. So not legal in that case. If she *had* just turned 16 at time of conception, aside from probably being charged with homicide, he could legally get away with not being given a misdemeanor.
I am sincerely sorry for the parents. No doubt the grown man at 20 should not have been intimate with a sixteen year old; fifteen when first pregnant. Children should not be having children; birth control is needed! Yes, I know it’s their culture but that doesn’t make it right. R.I.P.

Growing up in the county, these relationships are scarily extremely common. There’s been girls that came to me, bragging about their “grown” boyfriends back in hs….we were all 15-17 and the guys would be 20 and up. The schools don’t do anything about it, south Gwinnette hs (when I went periodically), they allow these guys around the schools, to pick girls up, teachers also do stuff with kids (saw 3 different cases in 5 months and the teachers were quietly removed but never reprimanded to not work with kids). It’s sick in that county, and the police aren’t diligent at all. They will blame the victim before doing what they should. Lived there for 18 years on and off (both Loganville and Snellville)

I thought it was odd that her parents were “excited” and “ready” for their 16 year old to have a baby. My dad would have cracked my head. He’d for damn sure wouldn’t be on national television talking about he was excited and ready for me to have a baby at that age. RIP to her. None of what I said negates the fact that she was too young to die and didn’t deserve what happened to her.

First off the fact that the father is 20 yrs old is extremely concerning. Why the hell would the parents allow this? Why aren’t they in trouble for allowing an adult be with a minor? Why does the legal system allow this? Why don’t they go after the minors for messing with adults and not just charge the adults for being with minors? This situation is sad but not a surprise.

Yeah, this is pretty common. The suspect was probably some deadbeat cholo. Usually, they disappear (not wanting any responsibility) before the girl gives birth. Then, the girl continues partying and nana takes care of the baby. 🙁

Georgia law is funny. It has no law against grown men messing around with a 16 year old.
Sad thing is, as parents its ok to set boundaries, but it has to be part of you life style- we didn't do dating, in our home because it usually leads to sexual activity. No you will not be a teen mother or father because that is not what we do as a family. get your education, live a little get married, then become intimate and then have kids. However, our society promotes the idea, as though it normal, go out a few times, start to sleep together, then maybe in a few months you will start to love each other (hopefully) have a kid, then break up and start sleeping with a new person you don't even love yet and start the same stupid cycle all over again- this is sad but it has become the norm and we just don't value life anymore.

Because he was going to prison for statutory rape. She barely just turned 16 in April and he’s 20.
They couldn’t put his name on the birth certificate and she probably wanted him to . And because of that that means rape, that means jail time

Right and wrong can be taught, but there also has to be an example, but that's only one of the reasons. If a parent does wrong, but the kids see him do wrong, they might not go by what he says, they might go by what he does.

Another Example keep your legs close , young teens dont need a boyfriend while finishing school. 😢😢 too young to go! Parents teach your kids to focus on studying.
I remember when old people used to teach young people a lot about what they need to know. Those days are over. Nowadays, if you go to the grocery store around 3:30 P.M., there's children running, jumping, and screaming all over the store.
