    Hello from one of the contributors Kavita contributors. Thank you for the really great video! 😊
    I would like to add that the Devices tab under the User settings is used in conjunction with the Kavita-Email container for allowing send-to-device functionality, like sending a book to your Kindle. We also have extensions for Tachiyomi and Paperback that use our API rather than OPDS. So you can literally read whenever and however you want. 😊
    Our next update will include CBL importing support to help users read some of those crazy comic events.

      Whats the best way to manage a large collection? both Calibre and Readarr do not handle to book naming convention/layout you guys recommend. As I have a large library its not feasible to imagine doing one at a time. Kavita is scanning but not importing my books. Maybe you could implement some sort of book renamer/sorter in the future.

      So I finally got around to installing this and it works great however I'm having issues getting this to work with my reverse proxy.
      I have it running in a contanier on my Qnap NAS- The reverse proxy is working because it gets me to the Kavita page however, once there I can not login there is sign on optioon but it just erros out.
      Qnap contianer -Cloudflare a record - Nginx for the proxy.
      Any suggestiosn would be greatly appreciated.

    I've been using Kavita for almost a year now for comics from tablet. It's a life changer. Only thing I'd add to your great video is that if you use arm64 or in general a low-specs system and you have a HUGE library, split into smaller slices. You decide how, by alphabet, year, whatever makes sense to you and then scan them separately. I fed my Raspberry Pi 4 (4 Gb) with a 100K comic library and killed it. So keep that in mind!

      Did you split it in several libraries or did you just scan the saem library over and over again while adding content before each scan? I'm on the same setup and my scans seem to not start anymore and weird things are happening, like scanning still showing notifications, but no new books found, and database errors...

    Komga is another great app that handles comics and manga well with a folder structure rather than metadata/title organization. Would be well worth a video on its own

    Glad you are feeling better. I am on UnRaid and just installed this a couple weeks ago. I am loving it so far. I have my books and cook books in the same folder so I have a lot of sorting to do. I luckily pulled my comics and manga out of the "books" folder recently. I am kicking around using Kavita for books and Komga for comics and manga.

    Do you happen to know any decently looking alternatives to this? On the surface it looks great but Kavita's naming convention makes it pretty much unusable... I've been messing with it for hours now and the only way it will remotely work is if the files have the titlename at the start, then chapter, then volume (or chapter and volume vice versa), then extension.. It doesn't allow for an individual chapter title in the name, and it doesn't acknowledge folder hierarchy or naming, if any of these things are off it just throws everything onto 1 big heap, meaning you cannot by chapter title distinguish the content anymore as some titles describe the chapter, also placing oneshots into a series that do not have a chapter or volume is impossible

    Do you have to add the book's cover manually, or can kavita scrape it automatically?

      Kavita doesn't scrape it automatically. It's pulled from your files. But there are external tools that support pulling external metadata and I believe covers.

    How did you get it to see tbat books folder ?

    • @DBTechYT
      @DBTechYT  Год назад +1

      Let's say you've got 3 different categories of material. Create a directory for each of them and then upload your content to those directories.
      In the docker compose, you just need to map the volumes.
      /your/manga/directory:/manga
      /your/anime/directory:/anime
      /your/hentai/directory:/hentai
      Where I've got "/home/manga/directory" you'd want to put the path to where you uploaded the files.
      It might actually be something like:
      /home/tibi/manga:/manga
      /home/tibi/anime:/anime
      /home/tibi/hentai:/hentai
      Be sure to change the path on the left side of the ":" to wherever your content is on your server.

      @DBTechYT ah so I have to create the share in docker and then assign it to kavita

    • @DBTechYT
      @DBTechYT  Год назад

      It doesn't necessarily have to be a share in docker. It just has to be a share that your docker server can reach either directly or over the network
