- Sunday, August 5, 2018 - Erika Henningsen celebrates the sold out Actors Fund Special Performance of Mean Girls-and her very first Actors Fund Special Performance!--with an inspiring and informative thank you to the audience, touching upon the additional significance of The Fund for artists new to the performing arts industry.
Many thanks to the cast, crew, creative team, musicians and everyone at Mean Girls and the August Wilson Theatre for donating their time and energy to this benefit performance. Actors Fund Special Performances have been thrilling audiences for more than 80 years with an electric energy unlike any other night of theater. Each year, shows (on Broadway and on the road) generously give their time and talent by adding a performance to their already rigorous schedules to benefit programs and services for those in need in performing arts and entertainment.

Can anyone explain what an Actors Fund performance actually is? Is it that people in the creative industry get free tickets or? Is it a charity for those people, and this performance raises money for them? Slightly confused
Hello! Once a year, Broadway shows add an extra performance to their regular schedule as a benefit for The Actors Fund (i.e. a “Special Performance”), or they may designate a block of tickets called “Producer’s Picks” to an already scheduled performance. The proceeds from these evenings go to support our Actors Fund programs and services, which are available to everyone in the performing arts and entertainment industries.
