Tinting the Windshield on the Ford Raptor w/ 3M Crystalline 90%

- The side windows are already done. I can't remember what is on the sides and back. I had 3M 90% put on the windshield. I've done this to all of my cars for the past decade or so. In FL, it helps a ton with the heat.

Stay tuned for more crazy!
should have gone with 50 on the windshield got mine done and i love it.
There's a definite art to doing that! Lots of experience and practice I guess.
Andy McCurley as a tinter, I love when people realize that
I can barely put a screen protector on my phone...
Ha, ha...
UV is really not an issue on the windshield, as the laminated double pane of glass with the typical thermoplastic interlayer will block nearly all UV A and UV B radiation. The tint film will reduce IR(heat) transmission and will attenuate the visible wavelengths to a degree and can give the car a better appearance.
I'm getting this tint installed on my 1991 Mazda Cab Plus truck here soon on all the windows. The big windows on it really bring in the heat. This will certainly help with heat and the AC working more efficiently.
Looks great, glad you have a solid go to guy for tinting. Ive been using my guy since 1998. He always lets me hang out and watch. After several cars he knows to be extra OCD with covering my door panels and dash before he starts.
It took me a while to find him.
This guy is a skilled tradesman. He is a one man show.
Im a young window tinter in Melbourne havent done many winshields but ill defs be trying this method tomorrow on my own car ! I usually Just Frankenstein it cause I'm too impatient to do the reverse roll method 😅 . Guy did a great job !
Great video! I love tint videos, I love this mod because it makes your car more private and the sun doesn't bother you anymore.
Thanks Robert!
Till the day you get in a crash and need to get out through a windows or someone needs to break a window to take you out. At that moment you're gonna wish you didn't have tints.
@@mudemmeonick the stupidest comment ever 😂
@@robertbidochon7949 I've been in that situation. I have had the experience. What about you since you're apparently so sure, certainly you're able to clarify why it is stupid.
@@mudemmeonick window film prevent these type of situations. race cars have mandatory security films...
i love the outro its so creative compered to other youtubers.
Thanks!
+Obsessed Garage (Matt Moreman)
Matt, please , tell me , can i watch this anywhere else besides youtube?( blocked in my country)
Thanks in advance!
I just edited out the copyrighted material. It should be available shortly.
Thank you)

That guy has some serious skills.
He is legit. I'm a huge fan.
+Obsessed Garage (Matt Moreman) omg matt get back to washing the f80 haha
Ha, ha... don't worry I'll be detailing crazy for life.
S/O to Adam for telling me about your channel it's sick!
Thanks Junior!
same
i got limo all around my car and before limo on the windshield love it
Hi, got any vid of your car? I'd love to see this!
Love the x-knife right on the glass. Lovely.
very nice....are you happy by the heat reduction???
Looks so good Matt. Awesome stuff as always.
Thanks Mario!
Has you noticed a difference in how hot the truck gets sitting in the sun? Also with light glare at night from other headlights
I have all of my cars windshields tinted. It makes a very noticeable different in heat and glare. I'm a big fan.
That has to be the coolest outro ever!
My buddy made it for me. I really dig it! Thanks for the feedback.
It is really a pleasure to watch another person making magic with your car:)) Btw, did you notice any side effects over time? After almost 4 years of usage i got some glue distortion especially visible when the LED light comes in traffic:( It's like a small diamonds effect:(
my complain is glare during lunch time n sunset, any new tint u could suggest?
I want to take the tint off my e46 m3 because it looks way better without it in my opinion. I haven't because its hot out here in california but I think i might do it and try out this clear tint
Tint is a must for me in FL.
Your house is awesome! Glad I was brought to this channel :)
Thanks Andrew!
This guy has great technique. We install this at our shop in Houston,tx #midtownmotortrends. And the science behind this film is amazing. Great choice on the film
would you recommend 90% over 70% for the front wind shield ? Thanks, great video.
No, 70 or 80 is the way to go.
@@ObsessedGarage awesome, thanks
@@ObsessedGarage So why did you get 90?
Let us know how well that film works.
Will do.
Had a tint shop hesitating installing windshield tint on my BMW X5M because it has alcantara covering on the pillars also with airbags...was telling me he didn’t have any way of covering it(nothing would stick) to protect water/soap from getting behind it.
Am i the only one who nearly cried when he cut the film and sliced the pillar on the driver side and when he slid that roll of tape across the hood😐 (im a auto detailer) i noticed....
That silver Teggy
Isn't it upsetting how little people care about attention to detail when it's not their car
I never knew how they did tint. This is great!
Thanks!
Definitely my favorite outro, man I love 911's!
Thanks!
What's the review on CR 90? How long does it last and how much difference do you feel in heat?
holy crap congrats on the followers!
Tell me about! It's crazy!
You cannot compare the Crystalline 70 to the 90 when it comes to heat protection and glare benefits. Installation however is different, 90 is simple and doesn't require the same technique when heat forming as compared to the 70.
I will buy your raptor when you are ready to get a 2017:)
I know I'm kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good place to watch newly released movies online?
@Prince Caden lately I have been using flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
@Prince Caden i use flixzone. Just google for it =)

Another awesome video. Is your Porsche tinted
Yep, with Formula One Pinnacle 20% and Llumar Air Blue 80 on the windshield.
Your one of the only people i have seen on RUclips that can wash a car the right way. The average person has no idea what grit guards are or the air force master blaster even is. Keep the detailing videos coming, i love them
Thanks man!
So much awesomeness!
Matt I'm digging the Raptor! Looking super good man!
:D
Thanks dude!
3:44 Dude just scratched your a pillar with his blade
Quick question, in the beginning of the video the guy mentions you currently have 76 on the windshield. So, did you have tint previously or is that the factory standard? Thanks!
All glass isn't 100% transparent
another quality video bro I enjoy them all !!
Thanks man!
Adam LZ! Yeahhhh. Glad he showed me your stuff!
Thanks!
I've always wondered about that shop every time I go to Ocala. I need to get my whole car retinted. The previous owner did a terrible job with it, I have a terrible texture like blur to my windows.
Shawn is legit.
can you give some comments on the difference you see between this one and the lumar windshield tint? also, I was thinking about tinting my windshield but always hear ppl saying there's weird rainbowish glare you get with sunglasses and stuff, so wanted some feedback, thanks^^
The 90% on this truck is a bit too light. I think 80% Air Blue is the perfect shade.
I didn't think you were aloud to do that in FL.
You can do whatever you want, but decent tint is generally illegal. I've never been bothered for it.
Matt why did you use the other place (and guy) to do the GT3? Or is it the same place just different installer? Thanks. Love the white Raptor.
This place didn't have Crystalline 70%.
"How often do you have people freaking out cause your getting water all over the dash"
Just you Matt :D
To be fair when i see all the water on the A pillar i thought to myself surely he's gonna make a comment about that then 2 seconds later you commented on the dash HAHA
Looks great, would like to see a full detail done on the Raptor in the new wash bay, then i can't wait to see your new garage go up.
Ha, ha... I used to freak out. I've gotten used to it.
Outro was sick!
Thanks to my buddy Andres!
Why isn't this available
There is some goofy country music playing in the background and created a copyright issue. The video is blocked in Germany only for some reason.
+Obsessed Garage (Matt Moreman) uk too ugh
+Obsessed Garage (Matt Moreman) Canada too
Not available in the Netherlands als well
I just edited out the copyrighted material. It should be available shortly.
I like your videos man, I was just wondering if you have any thoughts on the Nissan 350Z. I'm looking at them and want an opinion.
It's a cool car. I wanted one when they first came out. I ended up getting an S2000 instead.
Looks so good man
Thanks!
How do you like the tint so far? Thinking about 70 or 50 on windshield. I live in Texas so it's super hot!
I think 70 is the best option. 50 is a little dark at night.
Obsessed Garage thanks for the info will prob go 70. Keep up the vids. I'm very picky who works on my vehicles as well lol
Tint my windshield for the first time with crystalline cr60 3m thinking it was going to be light shade and it’s dark as hell inb4 tickets
Yeah 60 is a bit dark.
Does 90 have any tint to it or completely clear?
It does have a blue hue.
What about the inspection and registration stickers?
We don't have those in FL. I would guess you'd want to leave a section of the windshield open for those.
Hey i live in Ocala fl and was looking to get my windshield tinted as well but can't find a guy. Would you mind letting me know who did yours? Btw Adam brought me here and didn't realize you lived so close to me. Hopefully I can see your gt3 in the streets someday!

Love the Raptor, I want.
Thanks!
Isn't that bad to have all that water seep into the car electronics?
Video works for me Thanks!!
It's saying the video is not available?

+Obsessed Garage (Matt Moreman) I'm from North America and its not working
I'm in the United Kingdom and it's not having it ;)

Have you noticed any difference with having the front windshield tinted an uv protected? I have my car tinted 15% all around, but I haven't done my windshield yet.
I do notice it. This 90% is a little too transparent. I think 80% is the sweet spot.
Wonder if it can conform to compound curves ? Like aircraft canopy ?
It can
I would have suggested him to put some towels on the dash all that sope water will leave marks on it
Yeah, I'll probably do that from now on.
You've probably been asked a million times already, but any chance you're gonna take the raptor off road anywhere? I know how much you like to keep your cars clean, so I'm not sure if mud and rocks are the things of nightmares to you.
I absolutely am. Probably this weekend. I'll take the GoPros with me.
I like the short antenna, what is the brand/model?
I think it's Ford Performance.
Unfortunately we can"t tint windshields in Maryland
Sure you can. We "can't" in Florida either.
Love you crystal 💚🔮💜
I came from Adam :) love your channel keep up the awesome vids!
Thanks!
Matt, I know this isn't a GT3 video but I still want to ask you what your opinion on the clear tail lights for the GT3 is. Have you ever thought about them? Also, will you put black 22's on your wife's Tahoe?
I really dislike clear taillight on anything, so it's a no-go for me on the GT3. The Tahoe has OEM black 22s.
Is that better than Air 80 for heat rejection???
so k7th any noticeable differences such as heat, can a cop see it etc?
It does help quite a bit with the heat. I've never had a problem with the police.
Obsessed Garage cool thanks for the reply. gonna do it when possible now. seems it's worth it. happy holidays man
Hey Niko, what the heck!? Why so dark on the windshield!?? Seriously what type of illegal activity will you participate in now? Seriously limo tint on the windshield?? Jeez. I can’t even see in it.
Where did you get the film from?
Loving the videos man! I just dropped $185 on Adam's Products after watching all of your videos.
Sweet!
"get the UV out, get the UV out"
Love the new outro
Thanks!
Video not available in Ireland either .....
I just edited out the copyrighted material. It should be available shortly.
Thank Matt!
I know that the tires are Nitto, but what size you running Matt?
Good question. A few people have asked me. The wheels are 17s, but I haven't memorized the sizing yet.
Did you cut out the audio? Is that what was triggering the copyright?
Yep.
Do you know if there's anything available to reduce glare on a windshield or does this help? Thanks.
This helps quite a bit, but I would prefer a little darker than this one.
If you were to do it again, which would you choose?
Matt, I actually tried to write you through your website and my note got returned but the content was asking you who does your tint. Could you let me know? Thanks
www.ieswindowfilms.com
Were you ammo with USAF?
No, that shirt is AMMONYC. He's a car detailer. I'm a big fan of his.
if it's dropped down to 68, 69---then it's under the minimum 70% Federal Law light transmittance.. don't the tint company tell you it's now illegal, when tested with the tint meters?
Do you get a rainbow affect with polarized glasses with the 3M Film
A little, but it's not terrible.
How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking. I was quoted $250
That film is expensive probably around $175 for just the film on the windshield
$175
+Obsessed Garage (Matt Moreman) good to know, thanks
Did 70% on my car. fl heat is killer
He didn't have any in stock, so I decided to try 90 on the Raptor.
Does it really stop the heat that much? Thinking about doing it.
you are probably the closest you tuber to where I live lol
Cool!
Are you allowed to tint your frontwindow in America?
Technically no.
+Obsessed Garage (Matt Moreman) "Technically"
Sammy Wang Okay, you won the grammar course.
Obsessed Garage Thanks for the answer.
Ha, ha...
Out of all your cars I would rather take the ford raptor
dang, I thought you were doing it yourself. I was thinking "Matt thinks he can tint "
Ha, ha... Not a chance.
One question
Can the blade scratch the window if your cutting the sheet
you just have to have a brand new blade that is clean and sharp. Then you dont have to push very hard to cut the tint and it wont scratch the glass. If you have a dull blade and push hard to cut the tint then YES you CAN scratch the glass.
It can, but you can see he breaks a new blade after every cut he doesnt have to press as hard. Keeps from scratching the window or tearing the tint
+Jordan469011 so every cut you make you have to get a new blade??? So do they go through a lot of blades then haha
JUNiORLAZCON
You dont have to but when it is your job and youre working on expensive cars that have to be perfect, it is worth the couple extra bucks per job. The type of knife he is using has lines scored in the blade so you can snap off a tiny piece. Essentially getting 10+ "new blades" out of one blade
So I'm still trying to work out an appointment to get mine done but I'm trying to figure something out. This guy uses 3m. I wanted to do 35% on my front windows even though the limit is 50 in Ohio. I planned on doing 20 on the back windows and back glass and a 70 or 60 on the front visor strip. This is for a silver 16 focus with tan interior.
Think I can get away with it? I figured the 20 might help my cause. I'm 2 or 3, weeks out still
This is just me, but I would never do a visor strip. It looks super odd and basically does nothing. I'd either do the entire thing or leave it alone.
Obsessed Garage, it is illegal In Ohio to do the whole thing as far as I'm aware
I don't think it's legal in any state. If you don't go dark, they will never know.
Obsessed Garage, yeah I think you are right. I don't think they are gonna notice 70%.
Did you see any heat or glare reduction?
I feel a significant reduction in heat, but not much glare. 70% is much better at glare reduction.
Why did he do the inside and the outside?
What the hell is an E-Pass and a dot matrix??
If you ever sell this thing I want it!
Noted...
that guy wasn't the most talkative person ever ehh? 😂
Agreed. But one can respect the attention he was paying towards his work.
I convinced him to be on camera.
if you decide to sell it, please let me know :)
video is not available in the netherlands :(
in Europe looks like
just on phones it seems..
I just edited out the copyrighted material. It should be available shortly.
why do you use tape when shrinking the film
"How often do you have people freaking out about getting water everywhere?"
"Well there's no other way to do it"
Seriously? How about laying towels down?!? You've got a couple laying right there! That's just lazy.
I bought 3m 5% 24in by 30 ft for 20 bucks
Did you do a final light transmission test after was installed? At the beginning of the video he estimated it would take the VLT down to 69%. In NY, as of 1/1/17, not only is it illegal to have less than 70% on the fronts but you will fail inspection now also, requiring you to rectify within 30 days. Please advise.
I'm not sure man. I don't have a meter.
should have tested with a swatch on the windshield to see if it passes the minimum 70% light transmittance as per the Federal Law.
