K1 and glory the same? Have you even watched the difference in the fights? Glory is a absolute joke, with the king of Kickboxing up front, a proper retarder c*nt. Glory is 5 stored down compared to k1
Me and my friends used to watch all the worldwide tournaments on Eurosport through out the year, everybody had a favorite to win the Final Grand Pix in Japan. What a great format, every year was a new martial arts season. It almost felt like a movie, every year was a sequel with old heroes, some new crazy characters and even a few bad guys. I was a huge Bonjaski fan back in the day, 2003 and 2004 he was unbeatable. Aerts, Hoost, Sefo, and LeBanner were some of the all time greats, they all started in the 90's and came back year after year. Hunt and CroCop had great success as well but switched to MMA in the early 00's. And there were some crazy entertaining characters like Gary Goodrige, Bob Sapp and Mighty Mo.
same here! they broadcasted it around 10-11pm if i remember right. at some point i started watching it with my girlfriend at the time, and she went from being slightly alienated by the violence to being a massive fan, knowing all the fighters by name. She was a big bonjaski fan, too. for his looks as much as for his fighting skills! 😅
@@MisterBlaubart Well I can guarantee you it was merely his skills with me😂 It was always on Monday nights if I remember correctly. The 8-man-tournament is just such a great format. The early UFC's were the same way. Goodgride and Schilt actually fought UFC and Pride before. Gary's debut was as early as UFC 8, one of my all time favorite events.
Musashi made it to the GP final both times in 2003 and 2004, all decision robberies, and once directly qualified and didn't even had to fight in the Final Elimination. I was a huge Bonjasky fan back then and sincerely enjoyed when he beat him both times.
@@datdanweerwel Yeah he's a beast. People always complain it's just his height, but plenty other tall(er) fighters couldn't fight nearly as good as he did.
Semmy Schilt, a decent fighter with enourmous height and reach advantage over the rest of the K1 fighters during this domination era. Schilt could reach other fighter's head height easily by just slighty raising his knees while others had to make jumping knees to reach the head. Same with the high kicks, Semmy only had to make a 90 degree angle straight kicks to reach other fighters heads. And don't talk to me about them actually reaching Schilt's head with their high kicks, nearly impossible (Glaube Feitosa's incredible brazilian question mark hight kick being the exeption!). And that front kick, wow, they had no chance defending that treelog of a kick. Most fighter's tools were almost useless against Schilt's height. The fact is Semmy came to K1 and used his size to destroy some of the best K1 fighters, who up until his arrival had fought on a fair and equal footing to become the best of the best with some incredible fights. Then came Semmy, and there's no way he was a better fighter than Bonjasky, Aerts, Hari and Hoost just to name a few legends.
@@blucons4016 It's complicated. After the original K-1 died, it split into 2 organizations. 1 of them died out and Glory bought out the other one. Then, a new company in Japan bought the K-1 trademark and, seeing that Glory had taken all of the heavyweights and 70 kg guys, they decided to focus only on lighter weight classes. I'd say the legacy of "old K-1" is kind of split between Glory, ONE, and the "new K-1." Glory still has all the better heavy weight classes, ONE has the best 70 kg fighters, and new K-1 has the best fighters under 70 kg.
They weren't in the main tournament, but one of the reserve fight, that's probably why they cut it out. I still remember when Badr made it to the Final Elimination for the first time in 2006. He's extremely long, drawn out, show boating entrance, made me enjoy it dearly when he got knocked out in under one minute by the highly entertaining Ruslan Karaev . And when he made it to the Final GP in 2007, he got beaten by my favorite fighter Remy Bonjasky, which I enjoyed dearly once more.
Thanks for the upload. But the content is one word「 boring」. Remy is interesting to watch now that I'm an adult, but Shults is really boring. Musashi too (noticeable in other tournaments as well) has too many slips, golden interruption, and weird judgments. No wonder they are going out of business.
Wow just WOW…. That is some nostalgia right there. K1 GP was some of the best. All were beasts. Made me get into K1.

Who else was watching on Eurosport? Bonjasky was my favorite fighter back then. I dearly enjoyed his 2003/2004 run.

Damn, I was 15 and watched this all night long. Good memories!
Me too the old is best
You and I both, my man. You and I both.
Dang me to, can't find these full events to watch anywhere with the English commentary....so much better than UFC
There goes that beautiful man, Hong Man Choi.
K-1, best tournament ever.
heavyweights light on their feet like butterflies
Musashi's robbery was just insane
Yes. They the draw was a joke already. Kind of wierd that there is always some corruption or "home advantage" in fighting sports.
They wanted a Japanese hero, because of Japanese organization
Musashi lost two fights that night.

Yakuza. The same as in Pride FC
Cool! Kickboxers nowadays don't seem as epic as these guys.
less PED abuse
Remy Bonjasky is 6'4". Those dudes are giants.
Bonjaski was my favorite fighter back then, I really enjoyed his 2003/2004 run.
Gary double jab right hand 👊
Man Schilt is so controlled / agile for a guy that size.
Irl he is a lot faster than how it looks on film.

Le Banners corner: something in French ... *weeeee! waaaaah!* ... something in French

The best K1 was during the 90 to around 2005

I thought now that K-1 bought their rights back you wouldn’t be allowed to upload K-1 bouts anymore.
Still wear for Glory to upload K-1 stuff
my guess is that Glory probably has the original video library but K-1 has the name and trademark and stuff. copyright stuff gives me a headache

This is missing the Badr Hari fight Against Stefan Leko.
Stefan Leko misses the complete memory of that day...🤪

Bonyaski was great. But the way he used flying kicks and then dropped to the ground so the referee has to interfer, was kind of 'playing the system'.
Hmm yeah true. But happens alot right. Jon jones beat rampage jackson because of it. He believed so atleast
Anyone know all the fighters names for each match?
fight 1 remy bonjansky vs choi hong man, fight 2 sem schild vs ray sefo, fight 3 peter aerts vs jerome le banner, fight 4 dont remember their names
