Great review thanks. Whats the ride on the 20's like compared with the WT 18's? Strange ford doesn't offer a free change to AT tyres on 18 inch rims. For me the 12 inch dash, cooled seats, matrix headlights and roof rack/sail make it a better buy than a standard WT. Other nice additions are the premium audio, 10 way powered memory seat and damped tail gate.
I'm driving a 2020 Wildtrack with a 10-speed transmission and after four years of use, I've started to notice several issues. Is the Ranger Platinum using the same transmission?
Wish I could have stretched the budget for this over the WT I’ve got on order. I love the bronze, the dash and the seats 😩 also appreciate the shot with the baby seats in the back
Has there been a software update to sync4? Looks like a permanent camera button at top of infotainment and also newer looking icons. Not sure what the point of over the air updates is if they're never available to install. And the seats are not uncomfortable in the Everest plat.
If you own this car in RSA, you must have 3 different tracking contracts and insurers. They'll come into your house and ask for the keys in the middle of the night
Bravo, your honesty for pros and cons is the most important facts of our review, including a nice presentation. I hope you don't change becoming like other Australian presenters calling themselves car expert but without any honesty....just wished you were more detailed in your review such as the tech system, cameras etc..also the good things at platinum is at that price, you also get a vent seats which raptor is lacking at a higher price!!
Took one for a test drive today .. wow what the hell . Drives like a suv ( kinda) Also bought it 👍 hate the tyres and wheel setup though so will prob change those out once I get some coins in the bank!!
You comments re lane keeping response is a matter of personal preference. Personally I am opposed to an aggressive lane keeping system taking into account poor road conditions in my country. As far ad the leaf vs coil spring argument goes Platinum seems to fit a niche that will find its own set of buyers who want to be able to load from time to time.
I reckon Ford have got this arse-about. No tradie is going to fork out 86K to get a rack system. That rack system would/should have been marketed for the base model bread and butter. Likewise, not many surf-board riders are going to spend at the top of the range model! Platinum could have been differentiated more with a panoramic sunroof, as you suggested, more fitting for a luxury, touring ute.
last thing you want in Australia. Sun blazing down on your head. I had targa roof in my old Toyota MR2. I took them out maybe twice ever, right after I bought it and to show the new owner when I sold it. They were a fucking pain. They leaked and the heat that came through. Never again. Wife's old lancer has an electric sunroof at well which leaked. Hard top for life.
I don’t understand why Ford do this other than to money grab, there is no way you would spend the xtra $5k for this over a wild track, that money would option up a WT to something amazing with after market products. I have the WT , my biggest complaints are the engine stop start and there no warning on tailgate being left open been though it is central locked. It has every other bell and whistle though and drives like a dream.
Agree. First thing I do is switch off the start-stop. Second is to switch off the lane change assist and of course OK to the bloody seat belt reminder!
Ford interiors are, at last, starting to look a bit posh. Ford being ford is off course going to short change you somewhere. That somewhere is the driver's display unit.
if ford were smart they should have the 3L ecoboost raptor engine as an option if you are going to build a mall cruiser may as well make it fast in the f150 if you brought the top spec limited trim you got the ford performance ecoboost from the raptor
Exactly!! Drop the wanker roof rails and instead fit the panoramic sunroof and coil spring suspension in the rear. No tradie is spending 86K to plonk planks of timber across the plastic roof rails and cement bags in the back and won't feel the leather steering wheel with gloves on anyway!
Test drove one in Newcastle last Saturday. Yep, it drives great, steering is so smooth. Putting my order in now.
What you do for work or you a business owner to afford a new one of these
The shiny chrome on the grille will look fantastic 10 metres away in my rear-vision mirror at 110km/h on the freeway
This is an extremely underrated comment 🤣
Looks like a Ford ute that i can actually buy. Very tempting......wow....
A good, unbiased and honest review ... as always. Appreciated.
Very informative review Tom.

I continue to struggle with the concept of an 80k Ford 4wd
Does Ford Ranger Platinum also can be found in the Super-cab ?
Sunroof and retractable sunblinds for the rear windows would have made this a sought after vehicle ❤
What are the diwmenions on that tailgate or at least the load bin/tray height?

We don’t get the Platinum trim on the ranger here in the US. Only the F-150 gets it. :(
And I bet this Ranger must cost as much as an F-150 in the US, too, right ???
@@frandanco6289 Yeah, maybe even more expensive.
Dont know where you get the 8L per 100km , been driving the V6 wildtrack for 3 months and never got less than 12L / 100KM.
You must have a lead foot - I do a lot of freeway kms and 8.4 - 8.6 l/100 kms is normal.
Ah, finally understand the moustache, clearly a prerequisite for becoming a concrete cowboy 🤠

I got the V6 WT and the 1500 package would rather that than the platinum seems a bit dear for not much difference
Heated and cooled seats nice 👍
Is the engine of this car a timing belt or a timing chain?
I'm looking forward to an WildtrakX review.

@@youtubevanced4900I agree.
you dont need to you use both levers. You can move it from one side only.
The way you are showing the disengagement is incorrect
Do I need to use both hands to release the bar on the sports hoop? Please explain....
At a rated load of only 80kg, it's useless anyway!
@@trickster8635 that’s the load rating of the roof. It’s also the same load rating as every other dual cab Ute. SUV’s are usually a little higher.
@@DriveOnLeft no you don’t. Just one side only
It's nice only bad thing is the badge 😅
Such a great idea to wear a moustache for this.
cant wait for wildtrack x to come to aus
It makes me quite anxious that you have stopped in the middle of the road, on a corner, over double white lines. Please explain?

I like the idea of the new roof rail/rack system. But the new roof rails are so big, they look ridiculous. Ruins the look. Just my opinion.
That doesn’t look like a ranger @11:31
@9:10 the seats are fine, in fact perfect, Mr Tom just needs a cheesy, 12 BIG MAC's & diet coke in him
Tem que trazer esse versão pro Brazil
Kevin Rudd has found a new job I see, with this career I will bother to listen, the last job was nothing but hot air.

For $83k and no sunroof, yet the Everest model gets one..

I personally think sunroofs are a bad idea much prefer a smooth roof
Who is really ever gonna use the sunroof, its a total gimmick
so that $1726 is per service ? If so OMG.
No, i think it's fixed price servicing at about $340 per service
How many engines and gear boxes will this go through 😂😂😂
Needs a sunroof
All that chrome looks bad ,the rack system is a great point though
Yeah nah, wildtrak FTW this screams muscular school drop off mum 😝
I understand the payload is pathetic in this vehicle.
Why did they put such cheap looking parts on it. Compared to the wildtrack
Not a fan of 20s
If you desire premium just buy a BMW at that price jeez.
Damn, what ute do BMW have?
Hmmm, a BMW ute would be nice.
