    " i forgot about zbrush" hahaha very good. I hope the Blender team could optimize more the memory and caching mechanism, so we can do also more tight meshes in Blender, then i promise that i will forget very fast about zbrush too. Especially since they are now in a Boat with Maxon, who gave us already a taste of their license politics.
    The good thing in Blender, you have everything else in the same app, awesome rendering and animation. Ok the UV Editor still sucks, to be frankly, but this will come, like the clarisse like instancing, i can't wait to see it in the build.
    Thank you Nikolay for giving us this great helpful tutorials for Blender. Best wishes to bulgaria.

    just did a bit of testing because i found it strange that you said that you need a strong GPU for high poly sculpting.
    (I have a 2070 super, 5600x and 32 gigs of ddr4 3200 ram)
    at 3 million poly's it would freeze for 10 seconds while upscaling from 1 mil to 3 mil.
    Other than that it was really smooth regardless of what i did, and looking at the usage on my 2nd monitor my GPU would be almost always under 40% whilst CPU would spike to ~70% and at 100% when remeshing.
    Blender sculpting is nearly 100% dependant on your CPU rather than GPU and that mostly will impact your experience, a 1060 should be enough if you pair it with a high end CPU like the 5600x for i'd say up to 5 mil poly count. also blender was consuming around 7 gigs of ram by itself so 16 gb could potentially be "barely" enough.

    • @SpeedChar
      @SpeedChar  2 года назад

      Okay you made me think :). Then i decided to test it out myself. I combined the four arms and the head with the body of one monster i am doing, and remeshed it, then Multires until it was 14 mil polygons. Now rotation in Sculpt mode is no problem, all okay, sculpting with some brushes is okay, with other is laggy. Rotating in object mode is a pain and videocard goes to 100% immediately. So it depends on the mode somehow. In sculpt mode my video doesnt go over 40%. My 32 logical cores of processor power goes to 100% when i change resolutions in multires. So you definitely need some processor for that.

    • @incediumignis
      @incediumignis 2 года назад

      @@SpeedChar different modes render things differently, and it also depends on if you have a mat cap. But if you are purely sculpting with lowest possible settings a GPU will not be a bottleneck in most cases

    One quick question: if we wanted to make a feature asymmetrical (like say have the cleft palate only one side of the face) is it better to sculpt it in, then remove it from the off side later OR to sculpt without that and add it in after it's done? Or does it make any difference at all?

    • @speedcharlive

    by the way on 31:10 I was like "why that part is deleted? is it for limiting light colors to natural ones?" and then find out it's for masking chroma key that every green color in screen is affected. be careful with next videos :)
    and in case you are curious about adding realistic hair particle to that mouse or this head, this video maybe helpful: ruclips.net/video/PXh8Pnt2lUA/видео.html

    Nice tutorial. I find it easier to sculpt male heads because they tend to have more obvious facial features/landmarks. Female characters tend to be more smooth and rounder, unless super realistic, exaggerated stylization, or older and I always end up having to tweak them a lot to get them just right. Have you ever felt similarly? Or rather, do you ever spend a lot of time tweaking faces to get them just right?

    • @SpeedChar
      @SpeedChar  2 года назад

      It depends. When i start practicing actively and do like 3-4 heads a day from sphere. At some point i reach a level when i do them kinda right very fast. But if i am in a period when i make 1-2 faces a week only, then i have to spend more and more time tweaking to get it right. It is all about current condition, like in sports :)

    • @sapienpark4481
      @sapienpark4481 2 года назад

      @@SpeedChar Makes sense. Sculpting a lot of heads from scratch, you warm up faster, become more agile, figure out adjustments, and avoid mistakes much more (sports again ^_^). Is it really so hard to make a decent amount of money by being a 3D artist? I was shocked after hearing that it is very hard for you to buy a good GPU. Because I see that you level in sculpting is very advanced, and it is sligtly discouraging for me.

    • @SpeedChar
      @SpeedChar  2 года назад +5

      The problem for buying the decent CPU like RTX 3090 are not the manifacturers prices but the resailers prices, and the lack of availability, which bumps the price two times at least. So it is very discouraging. I can afford it but i dont want to :). If you are a good 3D artist, you will be well compensated, definitely. But it also depends where you live and who are you working for. You will be best if you live in some normal, even poor coutry like i do, and work for companies in USA, canada, Swizerland, Germany or other similar country. :)

      @@SpeedChar I live in Ukraine, and I guess we can consider the country poor. I was working as an aircraft engineer before, however, the max paycheck my company could offer was 600 dollars. But for this price you would have to work for 200+ hours per month in an office doing something you absolutely do not like. When I was working as an engineer, I was dealing with CAD programms only, and it was absolutely borring for me. I decided to quit the company and to start working in the game development field. I hope that quiting the company was a good decision))I even mastered english, because by the time I thought that it would help me to find a good job in the future, but in Ukraine it does not work like this...The absolute majority of people here do not know and do not need english here,the fact makes your previous words true - I have to boost my skills to the point when a good foreign company will decide to hire me.

      @@SpeedChar it is... it's about 1/3 of the price of ZBrush if I recall correctly and is more of a toolbox of 3D stuff ... more like Blender in that sense. But the sculpting is pretty cool as it has a voxel mode and can manage high poly counts.

    I'm just urious why you don't use dyntopo(dynamic topology..like sculptris...)? you can easily achieve extreme detail using dynamic topology...

    • @Shige2213
      @Shige2213 2 года назад +1

      because there is simply no need, there is no extreme detail level to most of his sculpts.
      I also don't like it, it's messy and hard to clean up
