The voice actor who did that weird ´pika-pika´ was Dennis Schmidt-Foß.
He voices Ryan Reynold's roles in German.
In an odd way.....that makes everything clear
Brilliant Sableye I kind of thought that was obvious.. Kinda struck me odd that „noone knows“ who voiced it
I can kind of see, why non german speakers probably don't recognize the voice actor (or the fact that he was already the voice of Pikachu for the entirety of the trailer), but in my mind it's still hilarious
its more that we are used to changes liek this since they happen once in while. mostly because audio reels got lost somehow
I just came from the cinema and the original voice-line is still used in the german version of the movie however. :P
Hollywood always seems to want to mess with source material because it “wouldn’t translate well”. I am BEYOND happy that they stayed true to the designs of the Pokémon in this movie. Just the fact that we get to see them translated perfectly into a realistic setting is an absolute dream.
while i am not a fan of that guy who made the "Realistic" Pokemon designs from DeviantArt i am glad for him in that his effort and hard work in making those drawings has paid off for him with him being hired on to do all 800 pokemon in a realistic style.
Everyone can relax, this movie was good. I saw it last week in Japan. Loudred was surprisingly cool!
Well I mean they went as far as to include Mr mime, which gamefreak themselves were unsure of having in the film due to creepiness factor alone. You can tell they handled the Pokemon in a caring way.
I wish Legendary would not rush things, the MCU did well because they had time to build up their universe, issuing two new sequels before the first one is even release is risky, they are acting more hasty than the DCEU and the Dark Universe and we all know how those went

Whether the movie turns out to be great or just OK, I can still tell that a lot of love went into the making of the film.
More love then the sonic film got for sure.
I'm praying to Arceus that this movie be good. As long as its not like the Old Mario Movie Ill count it as a win but its so rare to get a good Live action Video game movie I hope Pokemon can show how its done.

The post credits scene is an advertisement for Pokemon, Mewtwo Returns (the 3D remake of the first Pokemon movie). At least in the Japanese release. It comes out July 24 (or around that date).

The reason they dubbed the pika is because that is actually an outtake that wasnt supposed to be in the final dub of the trailer.
If they take some ideas from the adventure/special manga, the Red and Blue movie can be AMAZING.
I hope they dont fit it into one film tho

Well, Ash does have backstory and character development. It just changes every new region for the younger audience to see it. Personally, I think they should keep some of the backstory and development with him in future regions/seasons.

I almost teared up when I saw the Morelull in the movie. They felt... alive and very real. It reminded me how I used to play pretending Pokemon were real when I was a child.

It came out 3rd May in Japan. I think 10th May in USA.
It's the first time recently, that the Japanese release preceeded the USA release. Usually Japan has to wait weeks / months for a film after it's initial international release. Someone told me because it takes time for Japanese to add subtitles. But Pikachu was subtitled in Japanese already, and we watched in it's original English.
I think that maybe it's because the character is originally Japanese that they were given the right to release it in Japan early.

I watched this movie already. It released in Japan on May 3. I watched the English version with subtitles. The movie was damn good! Ignore what negative comments you may see, it was a great movie. Mewtwo is still the coolest, but Loudred stole the show in the underground dance club. Apparently, he is capable of producing hardcore dubstep from his mouth. It intensified as the R gas affected him. You'll see. ;)

Detective Pikachu was the perfect first film because it's not a game people are particularly attached to, so it's low risk. Adapted Red/Blue/Green, however, just causes to automatically jump to the conclusion they're gonna mess it up. Then again, if they take cues from Pokemon Origins, adhering to the games religiously in the portions it adapts, and giving Red charmander and Blue squirtle, it should be fine.

I liked the way that in this video, IGN's writer was only ever called IGN(as in IGN is a real person and not a group of people) and not by his name. This occurred twice in the video. Great way to show respect to his hard work and not demeaning at all....
