    I disagree about the fake sleeve, i feel like it prevents that temporary freak out after u get a tattoo where you're just kind of weirded out by seeing something different on ur body. wouldn't you rather someone do the fake sleeve and then decide they dont want the real one than have them decide they hate it and have to pay for laser? also you can think theorhetically that you want something, but feel differently about it when you actually see it on ur body

      I feel the way Kirk does...ppl today want to jump into tattoos, which leads to putting on massive fake sleeves. I feel tattoo culture is important to the art. Start off small and grow. One day that may lead to getting a huge sleeve. Its respectful, its sensible and it helps promote the art of apprenticeship. Just my opinion.

    • @newyorkvisionary

      @@islandlife7872if you’re that unsure that you need to see it, you probably shouldn’t do it. When I saw someone’s sleeve I knew I’d want tattoos immediately. If you’re on the fence it’s likely that you’ll regret it. Is there harm in trying a temporary one? No. I just find it strange that they’d be that unsure

      @@newyorkvisionary Some people just struggle to visualize what the tattoo would look like on their body. It's hard to decide if you'd like the way something looks on you if you can't picture how it would look. It's like people using wigs or Photoshop to help visualize how a certain haircut would look on them. Personally, I see nothing wrong with it.

    I think the fake sleeve or temp tattoos to test are great. I used temporary tattoos to test out what spots I might like & how much coverage I liked. It helped me to choose the spots I like best for the tattoos I definitely want & I absolutely adore my first tattoo. Some of us are completely serious, but we are overthinkers, so something temporary first gives us ease of mind to finally go for the things we want instead of talking ourselves out of it.

    • @jameson9283
      @jameson9283 Месяц назад

      You're not really understanding his point If you're the type to talk yourself out of something that shows you don't want it that badly and probably shouldn't be getting tattooed until you are ready. What you're describing sounds more like being indecisive and unsure not overthinking.

    • @MegBat713
      @MegBat713 Месяц назад +10

      @jameson9283 while I appreciate your opinion on the matter & I agree that he probably meant it like that too, I'm simply pointing out that different things work for different people. I know I've overthought myself out of a lot of things in the past; things that I really always wanted & that if I had been able to sample or test out a little before taking the final leap would have ended up making myself happier a lot sooner instead of overthinking it, unnecessarily, for years. For people like me, while we are 100% sure we love & want something, we still need to be able to test it or see how something looks in person to be able to actually go for it. Also, the temporary tattoos can help soften the possible shock some people experience immediately after getting tattooed because they've already gotten used to seeing an image there on a non-permanent level. By trying to deny us this simple ability (that doesn't offend or hurt anyone btw), people like me see it as gatekeeping because that would mean we would never get that tattoo that we've been dreaming about for years. I finally got my first tattoo, with zero regret, because I was able to verify exactly where I wanted to place it & enjoyed living with the concept for the duration of a few temporary tattoos first; otherwise I would have admired my reference pics for the rest of my life & been disappointed that I never took the chance. I'm currently planning the rest of my tattoos with confidence.

    I'd look up some of the japanese hand poke stuff. I remember watching a video where an artist demonstrated how the machine packed in colour and how it looked like a completely different shade from hand poking. There's definitely a lot of usage for it, even just for people who don't have the hand eye coordination to control a machine (especially at higher speeds when everything is a blur and the skin is bouncing around lmao). Oh and look up pieces of mixed handpoke + machine stuff, it's crazy how different the ink settles in even when it's the same colour or just black.

    I only have one small tattoo but I've always known I've wanted a lot of tattoos since I was little, looking at my mom who has tattoos. Currently I am not able to get anymore because my partner is against tattoos. But maybe one day I can get those tatts I've always wanted.

      Your partner can be against them all they want, it’s your body though. If it’s truly something you’ve always wanted and thought about since you were young then I think you should have a frank conversation with them about it. Holding that regret or resentment inside is going to wear you down over time. Let them know how you feel and if you’re fully intent on making it happen and they’re against it then perhaps you’re not as compatible as you first thought. Good luck.

    I have probably 40% of my body covered in tattoos and I still draw stuff on in places with markers sometimes to see if I like the shape or placement. I don’t see anything wrong with seeing if your idea matches reality.
    Ps. I am someone who is “about it”😂

    Ya I’m actually not completely against the fake tattoo sleeve. I’d say it can potentially help prevent a lot of the tattoo regret going around.

    I think if people think realistically about it laser removal is an option. Not an option for removing a tattoo but for maybe lightening a really bad one and getting a cover up. It should be calculated in from the beginning as a last resort. I did the same mentally with my ears, I stretched them to 10mm which generally can go back if they are taken out and left alone but that is not garanteed. I know if I really get sick of my stretched lobes I can save up and get them sewn shut. There will be scars and I would have to get regular piercings again if I wanted to wear earrings. But generally all kinds of bodymods are permanent and should be treated with respect and thought.

    I haven't had temporary tattoos since I was a kid and now my 3yr old loves his temp. Dinosaur tattoo. I do want to get a temporary tattoo on my toe since I lost my nail and it will never grow back. I did get a consultation for a tattoo and the artist told me he can do it but it will hurt a lot and wont last.

    A tattoo is not a fashion statement, fashions come and go. In 10 years face and hand tats will probably be unfashionable. Get tattoos because you love them, carry them with always. Take time to consider what you are having, spend time finding a tattoo artist that will provide you with an amazing piece of art.

    I agree with you about the "testing the waters" thing with temporary tattoos. It's so disconnected from the process of getting tattooed and just setting people up for disappointment.

      I think has merit if you want to test social reactions and how okay you are with them. Like if you’re not sure if you’d feel happy, just fine, uncomfortable annoyed or anxious with people giving your tattoo/tattooed area more looks/attention, people walking up and commenting on it, people asking to touch it etc
      Many of the things about the experience of being tattooed are social and occur after the fact. People like to believe they know exactly how’d they feel and react to certain social situations but we really can’t be 100% certain until it happens

    I think temporary tattoos can be a good idea for testing the waters when it comes to highly visible areas. I have a lot of tattoos and had an idea for something to add onto my hands that I was 99% sure about, but just to be even more sure I drew on the designs and walked around with them for a day. Ended up getting the tattoos and I'm happy with them. Did the same thing a few years ago with my face tattoos, walked around with the temporary tattoos for a day, became convinced that it was indeed what I wanted and that I was ready for it, got it done, and years later I'm still happy with it. Did the same thing with my throat tattoo years ago as well. But I agree that getting a fake sleeve is a whole different story. That's not something you need to test the waters with. But even with that, if it works for some people to motivate them to take the next step, then I have no issue with it. The issue I'd have is if people walk around with those fake tattoos to try to pass them off as real, when they have no intention to actually get it done. But if they are genuinely testing the waters and doing it privately rather than publicly, then I think that's fine.

    Your opinion on hand poke is interesting. It's got a fascinating history in all kinds of different cultures. Most of the traditional hand poke I know about is either in Asia or the Pacific Northwest. I think there's lots of room in the tattoo world for different types of tattooing. Your tattoo culture is different than, say kakiniit up north but they're both valid.

    That temporary sleeve looked WAY too good to be a temporary tattoo, and the way they applied it didn't seem like it would result in such perfect cohesion...I'm wondering if homie actually had the sleeve and they just blanked his arm out with make-up/digital alteration beforehand.
    Or maybe I just have no idea how advanced temporary tattoos are these days!
