I thoroughly enjoy talking about reloading, watching RUclips videos about reloading, and reading about reloading too, just as much as I do reloading itself. I thought I would be able to get into reloading for around $100 in tools, but four years later I have close to five grand in equipment and 60+ manuals. I can easily think of another grand or two in equipment to get as well. I'm even considering building a room explicitly for reloading ammo (at least three to four grand more there if I build it myself). I take my time and kick out 50 rounds per hour, if I do not count case prep or ladder test time. Anyway, I do not consider reloading to be any thing near a hobby as it seems to me to be more like unto an obsession!
Long live 45 Colt, the Buchanan Precision Machine hand press, Redding dies, Starline brass, Federal match primers, VihtaVuori Powder, and Lehigh Defense bullets!

Reloading is a hobby of a lifetime!
A Speer manual has that quote too!
I don’t pay myself for my hobbies 😂😂!
When I started reloading 56 years ago , I could load a box of 50 rounds with cast bullets for $2.60 !
Bullets were much cheaper back then !
Powder was between $1.99 -$5.99 per pound ! Primers were $10.00 per thousand !
    Well done Jenny J 1911

I know this is a year after you uploaded this but it's still applicable today. I just bought brass once fired for about .07 each the real shocker for me was primers, I went to my local gun shop and a brick was almost $200.

If I may, Dillon Precision has some reloading calculators on their web page. Cost to load, reloaded to factory and one that is very useful when deciding to buy a reloader, the return on investment calculator.

This was an excellent break down video....... great info. I honestly didn't even knew the cost of everything. I just reload because I know how now and it's fun. But I knew I would save some money too. Now, I know the rest of the story....... Thank you young lady!!

I still have pre pandemic priced components. So I’m reloading 45acp for $6.70 for 50 rounds 🇺🇸

When I had my Square Deal B, I could reload 100 rounds in about 7 minutes, now I could not keep that pace for 1 hr. But if I was focused for 7-8 minutes, then take a 3-4 min break, do it again, I could do 400-500 rounds in an hour on a perfect day. I don't think I could do that pace anymore so I would be happy with 300-400 in an hour. Thanks JennyJ.

Heck Yeah! Would surely use that Dillon press! My Lee Press is nice but that Dillon 550C is much much faster! /cheers to getting 5k Subs! I am sure you will get there! Fingers crossed for winning that press since I never win anything lol!

I always thought I'd get into reloading but all these years later, I still haven't. The 45acp I get I pay around 55c per. I don't hunt. All my guns are intended for when SHTF so at that point I'll be picking ammo up off the ground.

If it had one of those automatic presses, I would totally reload pistol, but for the price of remanufactured ammo in bulk, it just doesn’t make sense once you factor in time-well, that is unless you actually really enjoy the process. I reload for rifle, but that’s because I’m going from like $6-$10 a round to about $3, sooo I’ll take my one hour to reload 20 or so rounds. It’s the case prep that takes forever. Well, also the powder measuring since everyone seems to think it’s taboo to use a powder dump for precision rifle reloading-which I guess is true.

I enjoyed the video however i believe apples to apples price per 1k in components vs 1k in factory bulk would be a closer comparison. great video thanks again

I started reloading when the last ammo shortage happened. I get better quality for at least half the cost. My only problem now is around me everyone must have the same idea because primers are impossible to get. Lol

@Mooshine Jesus, I know primers are scarce. Don't lose hope though!! I see them appearing more and more all the time. Try using shootingbot.com if you haven't yet. That's one of the methods we've been using to get primers. I don't know where you live but we're all seeing them in bigger box stores like Scheels.

This might be the way to go. .45 ACP is over twice the cost of 9mm in my area. If this price discrepancy continues, it could seriously affect the big caliber's popularity.
