Never cleaned my mtb in 4 years, lubed the chain with some random spray i found at work or at home. Was about to clean it for the first time. Then it got stolen
@@tracklocrossyeg well he lubes the chain and then shifts through the gears. I’d assume you know if your gears are working the ride before. They don’t just magically break.
@@tracklocrossyegyou literally aren't understanding. The chain already got lubed. As soon as you start to ride, the chain is going to work itself through the gears.
I have to share this, I keep up with my bike maintenance, however trails here in Texas show no mercy on my MTB, I had an issue with squeaking on my full suspension MTB, I tried several products, but what worked best was SRAM butter. It absolutely eliminated the squeaking and really did make a difference on how much smoother the suspension worked. Happy Trails my friends. Hope this helps anyone who also has had this issue.
Remove your seat when you lock your bike that way thieves will think twice before they rob your bike. Get a quick release seat clamp make a scrape mark on the seat pipe so you immdiatly know what height setting carry a small rope so when you remove your seat tie it to the back of your back pack. And especially if you have anti theft skewers on both wheels and hex lox nuts on the stem and other important parts. Your very protected then. also use 2 locks
I love Tinkering with bikes you know I'm getting the shifters right and straightening everything up there's something to be said how soothing it is to have your ride tuned up perfect. It's almost as important as the capabilities.
Nicely done and nice bike. I love Rock N Roll chain lube. Don’t forget to check suspension sag/pressure, brakes work/wear, bolts are tight, and inspect the frame.
I have just subscribed to your channel and I'm very impressed. I have been meaning to clean my chain thinking it would take me ages, now I know it won't take as long. Keep up the great videos 😁

One thing is don’t cycle through the gears cuz if there is dirt on them it will get on the chain and it with make the more likely to get dirt stuck on to them
Thanks I was gifted a Mongoose Caan Elite 2008 I barely found out what kinda bike it was but I'm 6 foot tall and it's a medium now I wanna see how a large size bike feels. I used to go to dirt roads as kid in a huffy when I was innocent and had no worry. Good old days
I think this is pretty much illusional... If there is huge dirt on the chain: fine, go for it. But most of the wear results from the dirt inside the chain pieces and between those and the toothes of the chain rings. So simply rubbing with a towel and degreaser on it over the chain mostly only wipes superficial dirt..
For sure, you need a chain cleaning device (or a bottle) and chemicals. I do this 1-2x a year. Maybe after a really messy race. But not before every ride.
@@fpeter01 also depends on wet vs dry lube, if you use dry you should reaplie every time it gets wet. But yea even for me who will race up to 10x a year and rides at least once a week, meybe 4 times a year with a deep clean
These bleeders are pointless to push before a ride bro. It's for long descends where pressure can build up with rising oil temp. Before a ride there's no pressure at all.

Read the instructions on the bottle, most chain lines are supposed to be applied at least 4 hours before riding.
it’s not at least unless you’re using some dry lubes. they recommend 3-4 hours but you can get by with leaving it on for 10 minutes

You're supposed to do that after every ride not before. When you're done prep your machine for next use, don't wait for next use and then scramble.

Really should be after every ride not before. Then you can check for any damage after your ride and fix it before your next.
If you have white goo in your tires rotate them untill the valve is down. Otherwise goo can rin down and clog it
