    had two bikes from the early 90s. i still have one of them in good working condition. last year i decided to buy a bike and the difference was truly astonishing!

      Definitely times have change. Even with bmx! I recent got back into bikes and its a whole new world of stuff! Just a plethora of endless possibilities of bikes and products! Its crazy how much it has progressed.

    My mtb was more than double the price of my car. No ebike. It's insane where it goes. Dropped almost 5k and it wasn't even the one i choosed first, because it was way too expensive. Insane

    All I know is the prices for bicycles has gotten ridiculous lol. Which why I stick to buying used and customizing from there. Haven't been in a bike shop in like 12 years and the last time I went in the bikes then were like 800 for the cheapest stuff you didn't want lol.

    Just start in freestyle BMX, it will make you tougher anyway. Those 20" tires at 110psi really teach you have to absorb landings with you body. LOL

    Best new product here in my mind is that dropper post. If you're trying to pick up a chick at the park. Show her your bike. Ask her to sit on it and see how it feels. As she stands, straddling it, tell her to hit some buttons, until she finds the dropper post. Talk about an ice breaker.

      New bikes are super sick but for 800 bucks you could get an old steel hardtail have someone rebuild the fork and have a pretty damn good time. Or you could buy for a round 800 bucks a good enough steel bike from State bicycles which honestly for 90% of riders is probably going to be just fine. I try to remind myself sometimes when I'm getting frustrated on the bike that the most fun I probably ever had on a bike was this shitty "Spalding" branded bike that my dad bought me at Sears in 1990. That said, I've also broken frames in half doing dumb shit, so my bike should be at least as strong as I are stupid😂

      I have a 2004 Rockhopper Comp that STILL gets the job done. I paid 500 and some change for it brand new 20 years ago. I always upgrade anything that breaks or wears out with something mid-grade.
      I've shopped around, and every time I look at new bikes I vomit in my mouth a little.

Im just saying if your wanting something that works, wont break the bank, and wont burn your house down. Building one is a much better option out of an older or helk even brand new mountain bike

      upgrade and keep it! new shit is a lot of overpriced and hyped bad quality, specially the carbon frames, as tempting as they might be. 2000's bikes are not equalled in build quality nowadays

      i mean 1000 if you get used with some upgrades and tlc would get you a pretty sweet bike. My friend got a full suspension trek bike with hydraulic disk brakes and good drivetrain for 400. For a 1000 I think you can do pretty well tbh.

      Sounds about right tbh years ago my road bike caad 10 105 I think back in 2015 was like 1.6 or something. A big tip though is to understand easy matience gear tuning,chain replacment, cassette changes and u can save your self quite a bit. the markup on those parts vs online retailers can be pretty big.

      You can get a pretty good hardtail for that price. Full suspensions though probably start at $2k with crappy low end components, and probably a gimped frame.

      ​@@WhaJMcalot of modern bikes marketed as a gravel bike are aluminum alloy not carbon so i definitely wouldnt consider that a requirement. Everything else is cheap upgrades on an old bike.

    I saved up for a year doing paper routes to buy a full chrome mongoose sniper BMX.
    Was legit the shiniest thing I've ever owned. You could see me a mile away reflecting the sun. My friends always knew when I was heading their way to meet up for a ride.

      @@rolux4853 When I said smaller riders, I was referring to children. 12", 14", 16" and 18" BMX bikes are for children and they will progress up to 20" as they grow. A 3 year old can't ride a 20" BMX safely.

    I remember I spent $750 on a mountain bike a couple years ago. I was excited because that was a lot for a bike to me. My friends that actually mountain bike seriously were like " cool that's the bike I bought for my 12 year old son". 🥺😬
