I also prefer older Elliott. I feel like his base game face gives him a lot of personality, while the seasonal outfits mod ages him down at least a decade and makes him look just kind of "nice," I guess. In any given play through there's like a 50% chance I marry Elliott, so seeing him with a completely different face was really weird for me! I did eventually find a mod that changes his portraits back to the original version while keeping the outfits - "LeiAili's revisions for seasonal outfits - Elliott." I'm on my first modded playthrough, so it's great that I can have the villagers dressed for the season and let Elliott keep his face at the same time

I know this comment is a year older, but look up on Nexus, someone took the older Elliot portrait and put it together with the seasonal cute aesthetic outfits. So, you can have the better Elliot with the seasonal clothes. (Though if you look closely, you can see *tiny* parts where the pixel art overlaps or looks odd.) I personally prefer older love interests, too. I dunno, man, I'm in my 30s right now, I'd feel a bit odd going for someone who looks too young... I mean, they did make Shane and Harvey younger, but it's not *as* noticeable with them as it is with Elliot. (Harvey's face was made narrower and he's clean-shaven with a moustache, compared to a moustache with some stubble; Shane's face was made narrower, too)
A bit of a warning about the wild cats cave: it tends to not work with some custom farm maps or recolors. The issue manifests in that the cat cave works only for one game session, once you save and exit the game it stops working entirely and the items from cats simply do not spawn.
I honestly love Shane, even if I'm not marrying him I'll go out of my way to befriend him. I've been in similar situations as him and know people who have been as well, I like that we are able to help him help himself, and he's a great friend after he opens up, and definitely my favourite bachelor to marry, I love all of his dialogue (the one where he asks you to mix his ashes with chicken feed breaks my heart)
as a recovering addict i feel for shane. never personally had issues with drinking because just the taste of alcohol makes me sick, but alcoholics and addicts go down nearly identical paths. and people getting upset that he relapses after if you marry him is really shitty because relapses happen. personally i was clean 3 years when i relapsed because of a major surgery, but am back to nearly 2 years clean again! 😇💙 it is just part of recovery, and it honestly pisses me off when people complain about him/it. if you haven't heard of the east scarp expansion mod i would recommend it for the character sterling's storyline. darker than shane's , imo sadder than shane's, but far more fleshed out and "real". if you relate to or have friends that have similar issues as shane i would HIGHLY recommend sterling and feel like his story has such a rewarding, but also realistic, ending that fully resonates with me. 💙💙🩷🩷
at 19:05, it’s not the expanded mod that aged elliott down! the seasonal outfits mod uses an older portrait of elliott created by concernedape because the angle was easier to customize the clothes (at least i’m pretty sure that’s what the mod page says!)
There are so many players that do speedruns and perfection runs. It is really refreshing to watch a "casual" play through so to speak. I only play on switch at the moment so to watch a modded play through is really awesome!

Oh yes the cutscene swarm. So good. You know, I’ve always wondered what took upgrades look like to the other villagers. Like the hoe for example, you swing it and like 12 tiles get tilled at once. Just- what would that look like from an outside perspective?! I’d probably be scared out of my mind if this guy i barely know just tilled half his field in one go and watered it all right after.
I remember in one of the old Harvest Moon games, your farmer would turn red in the face with effort and then spin around with his tool, and he would even be dizzy for a frame afterward.

I'm sure someone's mentioned this before, but there is a stardew expanded/earthy recolour waterfall fix mod so that the edges of the waterfalls by the mines match (Earthy Recolour Waterfall Fix For SVE and Grandpa's Farm by Niteslash)

Glad you're feeling better! Just wanted to suggest some mods/changes that may improve the game for you. Chests Anywhere are Convenient Inventory are good mods to make sorting inventory a little less painful. Chest Anywhere can be seen as pretty overpowered, but you can ignore/disable any features you think are too powerful. Personally I just use it for the naming/grouping system. There's also a couple of changes you can make to SVE that might interest you. Firstly, Sophia has an alternate portrait that makes her appear a bit older. It can be enabled in the mod's config you'll also need to enable it through the season outfit mod for SVE. SVE also has optional "mature" events that feature darker tones and subject matter. I don't know if that's something you want, but I thought I would mention it. Finally, if you don't like the changes slightly cuter aesthetic makes to Elliot, or any other npc, they can be individually toggled in the mod's config. Hope these help! I'm enjoying the series and hope to see more soon!

Sal, I'd like to suggest a mod. The "Magic" mod. I find this mod really good for 2 reasons, and not because of the extra spells and combat stuff. 1) You can increase quality of items by using gold (from normal > silver > gold > iridium) really helped for getting friendship. 2) The reverse, can reduce quality of items and you get gold from it. I use it on fishes to lower their quality before turning them into sashimi for even more gold, for early game. Plus, well yeah, the magic spells can be fun
definitely be careful with automate and stone floors. I had used it on my perfection farm, where I had all of my paths as stone, and didn't think about the shipping bin lol. Definitely reset that day
When I added the automate mod, I forgot to disable what I didn't want to automate, and I very quickly turned off furnaces, and then it just bugged out and it kept the furnaces burning, but not completing the smelting. Same with an incubator. Check your mod options before playing, people!
No, I believe you on the luck. It can be stupid sometimes. Once went into the Skull Caverns with only a handful of Sashimi. I was just looking for Omni-Geodes, not even Iridium mining. (Literally nothing on me for a proper run). Made it to floor 60 completely on accident. Just kept finding drop shafts. First one even was 15 floors! Luck was originally going to be a 6th skill in the game, according to the Wiki. I hope that gets fully implemented in 1.6. Luck and Chaos Theory are my favorite things.

So i think that random object that was flyin across the ground was from the Visible Fishing mod lol. Sometimes I have pieces of trash fly across the ground and into a pond just like that when i load into a new area.
For a mod recommendation, if you're still taking them, I’d say try the ‘NPC Adventures’ mod. You get certain NPCs to follow you for different skills, buffs, debuffs, and extra inventory. There’s even a version for the Expanded NPCs as well.

That thing in the deep woods you were worried about is a shrub. You can catch it in the water, because you have the visible fish mod it for some reason does a tokyo drift across the screen.
What I do with Automate and the Furnaces is just keep most of my coal in the chest connected to the furnace chain, and store my ores in a chest connected to my Workbench. Whenever I need bars for whatever, I take the ores needed out of the storage chest and drop them into the chest connected to the furnace chain at the start of a day and just let it do its thing while I go about my daily stuff, coming home to bars at the end. Doing it this way means no longer having to babysit the smelting, and only smelting what I need, since the rest of the ores are in storage at the workbench, plus I need fewer furnaces since they are self-feeding. I do something similar with Eggs/Mayo machines and Milk/Cheese Press machines, by not directly connecting the Auto-Grabbers to the chain. I move what I need into chests as needed, that way I have eggs and milk when I need them, as opposed to a ton of mayo and cheese. :)
Sal! While I *love* Wickedy, I am definitely vibing here, and you are my new fav Stardew tuber. Your voice is just so mellow and calm to listen to, but also entertaining, so I don't get sleepy haha. I just really enjoy watching you play the game! I go through cycles with Stardew, where I binge-play it non-stop, until I am burnt out, and then several months (or a year+) later, I feel the urge to start a new play through. My most recent play through, I tried mods for the first time, and I went way overboard and made the game too easy and it got boring too quickly. I am getting inspired by your videos to play again soon, but this time I am going to be much more judicious in my mod selections.
if possible, and im sure you will, please play till year 3 and beyond! Stardew Expanded gets going around there, and with the new update of it coming after 1.6 its gonna get really good
You can see villagers likes and dislikes after you gave them something btw in the vanilla game so that you won't have to guess it again the next time (in case you didn't know). Just click on their character name on the friendship menu
One mod that you might find interesting to check out is More Food Buffs, which uses Content Patcher. It pretty much makes it so every vanilla food recipe will give you at least one kind of buff, and for those that already did so, it increases the amount. It's not OP IMO, just makes it so you might use different recipes than you would in just a vanilla playthrough. If you don't want to do that, a fun, cute mod would be Dino in the Museum, which is exactly what it says on the tin. It doesn't change much, just adds a baby dino wondering around the museum a few days after you donate the dino egg.
Show fish mod can sometimes bug out with items you can fish up. That wall planter can be fished from the Secret Woods and always slides across into the water when I play.
THREE ancient seeds in spring year 1?! the luckiest i've been so far with my own expanded playthrough is getting all four dwarf scrolls within a week of each other in spring. i'm now just finishing up summer and nothing's happened so far. i think i used up my year 1 luck on those scrolls.

Those Deep Woods, foraging-wise, can be a source of considerable gold. My current character is limited to sunny Tuesdays for exploring the Woods. The previous character got rich way too fast.
A few mods to try. Spritemaster, smooths out the pixel look, I love it. And... Useful sweet gem berry. Makes it so you can use the SGB in kegs and preserve jars.
53:30 I had the same thing happen recently. it's a weird interaction between expanded and visible fish (since all of my mods are based off your recommendations lol), it's just a glitch and can rarely happen with trash items as well
Maybe my only complaint with SVE is how many red herrings there are in the secret woods & cinderstap areas. There’s so many little spots that look like a hidden path or look like they should be accessible but just aren’t
Sophia doesnt like dancing so thats why she is not in the dance, BUT if you ask her out (I managed to get exactly 4 hearths with her on the dance day) by talking to her every day, and giving flowers until I rushed level 7 fishing to get iridium rod and with that trap bobber and trout soup get puppyfish for the other weeks, she will dance with you, and also does when married
You've mentioned you might take mod suggestions a few times, so I looked over my (rather extensive) list and picked a few I think you would benefit from. The big one is Free Love, which allows you to romance multiple spouses at the same time. I use it since I'm polyamorous and it is my farm fantasy, but it would probably be useful for you as you wouldn't have to pick one person to romance, you can show us multiple ones. To go with it, you will want Tia's Multiple Spouses Dialogue Pack, Multiple Spouse Dialogs and Bed Tweaks. Other mods I find useful, though you as a god-tier player might not need are: Add Berry Seasons to Calendar NPC Map Locations Quick Glance Mod Update Menu Even Better RNG Loved Labels Redux Anniversary on Calendar Stardew Notifications
What I love about the Andy cutscene is 1) he's outraged about new regulationss 2) he "thought the valley supported local farmers" and yet 3) when Lewis offered monetary support, he refused it as a handout. *shakes head sadly* Also, on the topic of the impending end of spring, I wonder whether it's even _possible_ to complete the mod in 2 years. There's way more end game content than in the regular game and at least some of it is time-triggered. Tbf, if you ask _me_ completing regular Stardew Valley in under 2 years is an insurmountable feat, although I know it's perfectly possible. So perhaps I'm not the best judge of how long a min-max type playthrough of SVE would take. Regardless, I think it's great that you're not trying to speed through it! Also, also the nexus page for the adventurer's guild expanded says you should have triggered a cutscene for it after playing 15 in game days and completing the Guild Initiation quest...which you seem to have done. Which is weird.

I go through cycles with Stardew, where I binge-play it non-stop, until I am burnt out, and then several months (or a year+) later, I feel the urge to start a new play through. My most recent play through, I tried mods for the first time, and I went way overboard and made the game too easy and it got boring too quickly. I am getting inspired by your videos to play again soon, but this time I am going to be much more judicious in my mod selections.
if possible, and im sure you will, please play till year 3 and beyond! Stardew Expanded gets going around there, and with the new update of it coming after 1.6 its gonna get really good

I get the floating wall basket in the Secret Woods glitch, too. Sometimes trash floats past me in the back of Willie's shop also.
it's a visible fish glitch, and i think it happens from interactions with expanded, but not 100% sure on that part

You can see villagers likes and dislikes after you gave them something btw in the vanilla game so that you won't have to guess it again the next time (in case you didn't know). Just click on their character name on the friendship menu
One mod that you might find interesting to check out is More Food Buffs, which uses Content Patcher. It pretty much makes it so every vanilla food recipe will give you at least one kind of buff, and for those that already did so, it increases the amount. It's not OP IMO, just makes it so you might use different recipes than you would in just a vanilla playthrough. If you don't want to do that, a fun, cute mod would be Dino in the Museum, which is exactly what it says on the tin. It doesn't change much, just adds a baby dino wondering around the museum a few days after you donate the dino egg.

Show fish mod can sometimes bug out with items you can fish up. That wall planter can be fished from the Secret Woods and always slides across into the water when I play.

THREE ancient seeds in spring year 1?! the luckiest i've been so far with my own expanded playthrough is getting all four dwarf scrolls within a week of each other in spring. i'm now just finishing up summer and nothing's happened so far. i think i used up my year 1 luck on those scrolls.

Those Deep Woods, foraging-wise, can be a source of considerable gold. My current character is limited to sunny Tuesdays for exploring the Woods. The previous character got rich way too fast.

A few mods to try. Spritemaster, smooths out the pixel look, I love it. And... Useful sweet gem berry. Makes it so you can use the SGB in kegs and preserve jars.

53:30 I had the same thing happen recently. it's a weird interaction between expanded and visible fish (since all of my mods are based off your recommendations lol), it's just a glitch and can rarely happen with trash items as well

Maybe my only complaint with SVE is how many red herrings there are in the secret woods & cinderstap areas. There’s so many little spots that look like a hidden path or look like they should be accessible but just aren’t

Sophia doesnt like dancing so thats why she is not in the dance, BUT if you ask her out (I managed to get exactly 4 hearths with her on the dance day) by talking to her every day, and giving flowers until I rushed level 7 fishing to get iridium rod and with that trap bobber and trout soup get puppyfish for the other weeks, she will dance with you, and also does when married

i play vanilla and find ancient seeds at an average rate of 1.5 a season. your luck is perfectly believable, iffin you ask me!
You've mentioned you might take mod suggestions a few times, so I looked over my (rather extensive) list and picked a few I think you would benefit from. The big one is Free Love, which allows you to romance multiple spouses at the same time. I use it since I'm polyamorous and it is my farm fantasy, but it would probably be useful for you as you wouldn't have to pick one person to romance, you can show us multiple ones. To go with it, you will want Tia's Multiple Spouses Dialogue Pack, Multiple Spouse Dialogs and Bed Tweaks.

What I love about the Andy cutscene is 1) he's outraged about new regulationss 2) he "thought the valley supported local farmers" and yet 3) when Lewis offered monetary support, he refused it as a handout. *shakes head sadly*
Also, on the topic of the impending end of spring, I wonder whether it's even _possible_ to complete the mod in 2 years. There's way more end game content than in the regular game and at least some of it is time-triggered. Tbf, if you ask _me_ completing regular Stardew Valley in under 2 years is an insurmountable feat, although I know it's perfectly possible. So perhaps I'm not the best judge of how long a min-max type playthrough of SVE would take. Regardless, I think it's great that you're not trying to speed through it!
Also, also the nexus page for the adventurer's guild expanded says you should have triggered a cutscene for it after playing 15 in game days and completing the Guild Initiation quest...which you seem to have done. Which is weird.

I'm not sure if you'll see this or if you already know- but this is a feature of the Npc map locations mod I stumbled upon accidentally. If you press the button on your keyboard that has both of these icons | \ it pulls up a mini map in the top left corner.
