- Our talking pet magpie is truly amazing. He totally surprised us when we first heard him say peach come here. We never knew that magpies could mimic speech but Pie is such a character and also very fascinating.
Животные
One of the most fascinating things to me about bird mimicry is that they copy *exactly* what they hear; right down to the acoustics of a room where they learned a sound. It's not that they understand "oh this sound should echo" but more a testament to just how versatile their vocal system is, and how detailed their retention of sound.
❤
God's incredible creation, what a pleasure to see and hear.
Honestly, considering the fact that magpies, nonetheless, all Corvids are extremely intelligent, there is a decent chance they understand what they are saying, they may be able to use the actual concept of language and recognize that the word apple refers to the little red fruit they like to eat.
@@spiderriszer7856they pick up vocal cues but understanding the meaning of words, while possible, requires training.
That’s why it’s called mimicry😂
I speak with a magpie daily and he tells me hello, his name, hes a good boy and smart then we laugh together and make trippy noises at each other.
This is lovely!
@@chv72
you and your family are lovely as well. So much joy your videos bring to the world. The magpie i speak to is named Ruckus and i really enjoys his antics.
A wild one? I just have one that come to my balcony to bathe (and/or drink the bath water). Can’t feed him though, as it is forbidden to do so here (attracts rats)... He is sooo pretty with his iridescent blue/green feathers...😊
This is so precious ~ I'd love to have regular chats with a gorgeous magpie! I've heard of a magpie in Yorkshire in the north of England (where the locals have a very distinctly gentle, laid back and friendly-sounding accent), who sits on a bench in town saying to passers-by "'Ey-oop dearie, y'alright, luv?". Her voice is that of a kind old lady, and some people happily stop and chat to her, whereas others have difficulty working out where the words are coming from, and get a bit freaked out when they realise it's a talking bird!
@@speckledhen295 I would love to meet her. I have family in Sheffield.
You can tell that Pie is trying to say so much more. Pie wants to have a conversation with you. 🦜
The coughing is so realistic. I got sick and had a cough for 3 weeks and My African Grey parrot learned to cough and sounds exactly like mine, hahah!
Oh wow, my colleague's African Grey (who I'm very friendly with and see every day, because I work in my colleague's home office) does exactly the same. My colleague had really bad bronchitis when he first brought Oliver the Grey home, causing some really painful, nasty-sounding hacking chesty coughing fits. Of course, Oliver learned to mimic those coughs perfectly, and now, two years later, he still performs them in all their gory detail for anyone who'll stick around to listen!
I've often heard my colleague have to explain to visitors "no, my parrot isn't gravely sick, he just learned to mimic those coughs from when I had bronchitis. From how gruesome they sound, you probably think I'm a chain smoker, or have a horrible lung disease, but no, I'm very healthy now!"
I had a Starling for almost 15 years - I had a cough once and she imitated it perfectly and many other sounds and words.
Many do not realize they're related to the Mynah Bird.
She was a sweetheart. - Stephanie
Hahahahaha
That's so ridiculously funny!
ollerpops my Grey did the same.
Pie chasing Peace while chanting "get ready for bed" is precious.
I kinda saw that as bullying the baby crow
"PEEEAAACH!! COME HERE!!" He is such a clever and funny little guy! We love you, Pie! Lol
Elysa Francisco oh my, I understood "please, call me "love", call me "love", pleeeeease!"
Elysa Francisco 🤣❤️
I thought he was saying "Pete" 😊
I thought he said Pete, come here. Lol
I thought he was saying Bitch, come here!
He is trying to say a lot more, and wonders why he can't. That drives him crazy.
He's practising, and I'm sure he'll learn eventually. He's a clever little guy! I've heard parrots work on pronouncing new words when they don't think anyone's listening.
Right!! 😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰
Corvids are the most intelligent of the bird family.
I lived just past the Blue Mountains before moving to USA, had a baby magpie we raised after finding a cat attacked, released it and it’s come back knocking on my bedroom window calling my name in morning, eventually it had a family and would bring them. They are very smart and affectionate to people they know.
I cannot imagine a time when talking birds will get old. Nope....never.💘
Wow I distinctly hear the magpie say "Get ready for bed". Never knew they were capable of speech.
Most corvids are to some degree
Me too
He is a beautiful bird. I love how he even has the soft accent that your good wife speaks with...he even mimics her giggle..Awesome.
I had tears in my eyes laughing when Pie was telling Maple to get ready for bed :D Far too funny, and adorable!
Me too! She is such a character. She should be on television.Have her own talk show 😆
Here too lol
Birds don't even have lips but they speak so clearly.
"Get ready for bed get ready for bed!"
"Caw caw caw!"
"Come here, come here!"
*Pissed caw caw*
What a beautiful animal. I've always has a special affection for magpies.
"Peach, get ready for bed!" "No I'm not tired yet!"
Pie: "Get ready for bed~ Good Pie~ :D "
Maple: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"
Pie is looking gorgeous in his new coat of feathers ❤️ He is such a character!
I've always loved how cheeky magpies are. They've always been my favourite bird, despite some people thinking they're bad luck. Clever birds, magpies. Pie proves it! 💙
I love how he goes Peach... Peach... PEEEEEACH!!!!!!!! Such a sweet little chatter pie
Such a cute bird, definitely a "Good Pie." But I wonder, does Peach ever actually "come here?" ;-)
Peach only comes when we call him!
I wonder how Peach feels having Pie nagging at her constantly 😂😂😂 Gotta love those birdies♥️♥️
Peach doesn't mind but Maple does not like Pie very much as he teased her when they were little.
Pie talks a lot! Years ago, my mother in law had a magpie that would make all the sounds in their house. The doorbell, phone,(this was before computers were common) sirens and such from tv. They didn't know they could do human speech until a few years in, when it yelled cuss words! Karen yelling at her dogs, lol. 😄💖✌️🎃
Lol , Pie really knows how to put his point across when telling Peach “ Get ready for bed 🤣
What a sweetheart.
I had no idea Magpies could talk. Such an Awesome bird & the speech is Amazing.
What a cute video too!
I adore Pie, he's such an intelligent and jovial little fellow! His adorable little laugh (which sounds so much like Kullike's) is so adorable, and I *love* the bit where he's repeatedly telling Maple to get ready for bed. Both of you interact so lovingly and tenderly with him ~ it's just beautiful to see.
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Man: You're only on "peach" tonight."
Pie:...That's right.
Man: ...what?
Haha best part
Pie is my guy. What a cutie!
Takes a great spirit and really cool character to care for and teach a wild bird all this. God bless you.
Thanks for your nice comment.
Pie is a wonderful little bird who can talk as nicely as he does. Incredible. Lucky you took care of him, otherwise we wouldn´t have gotten how good Pie is talking. Hugs. Britt o Gunnar.
It’s AMAZING how they sound just like their owners!!! Accents and all!!!🤗😆🙋🏼♀️ my friend had a parrot and kept it at her dads house and it sounded JUST LIKE HER VERY SOUTHERN DAD!!!😂🤦🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
I don't know how but a Magpie came in the house through the Cat Door. He spent the first day hiding. I kept thinking there's a Bird in the House. Then I'd say no that's no possible. He came out the next day. It took me taking the screen off the window, serving him breakfast and managed to slowly get him out the window. It was so cool. My intuition kept telling me there was a Bird but I just couldn't believe it. They are much smarter than we give them credit for.
Very interesting! :-)
It's truly amazing that these creatures aka parrots cockatoos even crows can talk to us. Think about it. They have no teeth or lips yet they can annunciate the words better than some humans can.
It would be scary if they had teeth 🦷 and lips 👄
Elephants, some apes, and whales and dolphins can all do it too, but we don't tend to keep them in our houses with us, so we don't see it as often. Elephants can apparently get pretty good at it.
Who really know if u have patience and understanding alot more birds and animals can communicate with us .
they have a syrinx instead of a larynx
most of the sound is made by the throat and thongue, lips and teeth are like 10% (that's also why chimp can not talk even having lips and teeth, they lack vocal cord control)
3:06 Oh my god they're so cute. "Get ready for bed Get ready for bed. Get ready for bed. Get ready for bed." And the crow: "Okay! Okay! Okay! Okay!"
Cherry, watching them both: hehehehe
Stunning. What a beauty ♥️
Birds and animals are so wise. It's so sad that many people do not understand this.
A *bird* can talk better than me when I’m giving a presentation. Dang.
He wants food or attention. My bird does the same. Boy he's talking a lot. I just love all these creatures of this Earth ❤️.. Stop Fighting with your brother. Thanks for sharing 😍.
I also talk to and feed 2 wild crows everyday.1 male 1 female. The male says hello and I can feed him by hand.
Wonderful creatures and very affectionate.
Get ready for bed...lol
I also enjoy how much he sounds like kuluka when he says peachs name.
He's an entertainer
He's so vital and aware.....loves to interact and communicate...he's wonderful
Thanks
I've got to say that Pie is a🐦 beautiful bird.
This made me laugh Pie going up in octaves calling peach then going as loud as he could screaming peach. Funny little fellow.💕💕💕🌈🌈😊😊😊😊✌️✌️👍👍♦️♦️♦️♦️♦️
Lol, Maple wasn’t having any of it!
Hi ,i love the way that he has picked up the accent, and the laughing. He sounds exactly like you two. Thanks for sharing. Lve from Australia
Yes that is totally amazing to hear Pie speak like that.
Dennis you need to have a "take your magpie to work day."

I had a couple of magpies living in a tree in my yard. Rarely saw them, but I had Nokia text message sounds coming from the tree all summer long... And I think they must have been the ones leaving shiny, little gifts for me on the hood of my car. A broken ear ring I'd never seen before stands out as the most remarkable one. Amazing birds!
That is so awesome!!
What a sweet and smart Pie! I love hearing him talk
I love this, what gorgeous little souls Pie and his friends are. Cheered me up and I'll never look at the crows and magpies the same way again, I never realised they could talk so well! Keep bringing us these lovely videos guys! 😊
Very happy to hear that!
Get ready for bed 😂 so clear and fluent of all his/her dialouge
Love this, have many crows in my little neighborhood, they are smart, and now with snow they want food
That is one smart Magpie........I love him
Thanks for fun amalgamation of Pie in his talkative mood. He’s gotten big & beautiful!
I would LOVE to have one of these wonderful beautiful birds!!! They are awesome. Between all wildlife/animals in the world BIRDS ARE MY NUMBER ONE HANDA DOWN FAVORITE

AWWWW such a precious baby! I love him so much!!💙💙💙 So sweet, Pie is so pretty 💙💙
Omg. PRICELESS. They are playing. So funny. They talk so well. Incredible. Thank you
Amazing, truly truly amazing. Thank you kindly for sharing x
How lovely, smart and so cute !!! He is funny.
Thanks.
This is so cute and amazing!! Big cuddles to both of your birds!
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful bird ! beautiful family member ! Thanks for sharing !
I really like to speculate how a bird language actually works. I'm convinced that there are nuances in what they're saying which go beyond the actual words and tones. There's no doubt in my mind that they have extremely advanced communication that we cannot perceive.
Many birds including parrots exhibit cognitive behavior and understanding what one says. (Ones raised indioors), react to their names, the word "No", etc. - the Blue Jays outside listen/watch when I bring with food for them and alert others (Blue Jays).
Stephanie
My great aunt had an African Grey and a dog, and whenever the dog was being a nuisance in the kitchen where the parrot liked to hang out, she’d say “Get outta the kitchen Charlie!” and he’d high tail it. He’d also come when called. The parrot figured out the words were what did it and would crack itself up saying from the kitchen “Come here Charlie!” And the second it got there it would shout “Get outta kitchen Charlie!” And it’d bolt like always.
Haha! Funny bird! :-)
What a lively bird! So cute how he keeps repeating Peach's name! 💙💙💙
What an amazingly smart little creature. He really makes you wonder just how wrong we might be on
the intelligence of other species. He's tiny, his brain mass is far smaller than even a cat but look at what he can do! Thank you for sharing :). He talks up a storm but it left me speechless lol.
While you have point, purportionality means a lot more. Corvids are smarter than cats, they're in same tier as great apes, dolphins, and elephants.
And thats where the mistake goes. Its not only about the mass, its about the brain itself.
A guy above 2 meters has a bigger brain because he is bigger but has the same brain. Doesnt make him smarter other than depending on his genes and experiences
Their brain to body ratio is very big actually comparable to chimps and a little smaller than humans. Meaning they have very big brains for their size they probably are smarter than us in some ways
Brain size as a ratio to body is a better indicator of intellegence than actual size.
Is the Maggie telling the Crow, “Get ready for bed” Good, good
Pie is telling everyone to get ready for bed including Peach.
I love Magpies they are so clever, Pie you are adorable ❤ and thank you for rescuing this beautiful bird ❤ x
Talented birb!
Incredible birds. I love how you love them. Which is plain to see they love you. I would rather watch videos on birds and animals than people. Please keep your videos coming
The two together is the craziest thing I've ever seen! The magpie: "get ready for bed" to the other bird! He even mimics the cage sound! WAW. Then she mocks your laugh!
Very funny the scolding! He does seem bossy...
I can't remember the last time I've laughed like this!
Happy to hear.
Wonderful. Thank you for your kindness to these lovely creatures.
Wowwww.... what a smart lovely n talkative sweet bird he is 😍😙 he loves to talks a lot :) so happy to hv a beautiful joyful pet at home 😙😙❤❤❤ many kisses n loves frm me to Pie 🐧🐧
This is one of the cutest things I ever seen 😄 you two are lucky
Some yrs ago on the News, was a Story of a Magpie that was trained & owned in a similar way. It had gotten out & went knocking on a Neighbours door. When They opened It, the Bird said "Hello" & a Couple Other things. The people were Rather freaked out - a Big WTH? cause they Diddn't KNOW Magpies could TALK. It was Rather Funny, & the Bird made it's way home, after being on the News, so it was a Happy Story. That whole family of birds (Magpies,Crows,Ravens, & Jays) are INCREDIBLY Intelligent Creatures!! Thank You 4The Fun!
Alexander Graham Bell 1876: "Mr Watson come here.."
Pie 2019: "Peach come here.."
Amazing!
Poor Maple! They are hilarious together! 😄😄
OMG! I knew magpies and crows are able to learn ppl speech, but seeing this video is just KILLING me(!); I already envied you, but now Im beyond jealous!!! I wouldn’t be able to do anything else but enjoy Pie talking❤️👂🏼
Glad you enjoyed it.
I had a rescued starling & for at least an hour daily we spent quality time. He told the plumbers My footsies are cold today followed by Are you making poopie again? They were amazed & asked what kind of bird he was. They were impressed when I said he was a European starling. I still miss him.
Magpies are so smart! Their ability to mimick human speech is truly amazing. Pie sounds so much like his mom. It's absolutely adorable!🥰
I'm in love with pie and peach so smart and funny talking together made me chuckle 🤭💞👍
Not just mimicry, but sort of playing with the words as well. I read that singing and talking is peasurable to birds. My parrot and I adore Pie and Peach and the gang. Best wishes
My God this is the cutest thing I have ever seen
Does he chatter like that all the time or just when the camera comes out? He's adorable.
He is chatting whenever he gets in the mood which is usually when he hasn't seen us for a while and then we go to their room. He is a little shy of camera and often stops talking when we take camera out, so it is not very easy to record him!
Lol just like me he doesnt want to be recorded.
My dog will stop what she's doing when I try to video her or take her picture. I don't know how she knows!
I was working cleaning house and left my African Grey alone in his cage for an hour or so. When I finally came back to the family room, I got a VERY rare, "Hi, Sweetie!" He was being charming because he was lonely!
Oh you lucky folks having someone so gorgeous in your lives - I'm jealous :-)
Beautiful Pie...reminds me of Heckyl&Jeckyl cartoons... very intelligent... Lol
Such a clever beautiful bird. Thanks for giving them all such a great home and caring for them.
He has said cherry in many videos..he is just amazing!!
She,s really talking.......Omg ~~ Amazing bird!! 👍🏻💗💞
Pie is a lucky bird. With a lovely family, he/she is well loved..
Awwww SO ADORABLE! This is too much cuteness overload, I love such smart beautiful soul is obvious he is highly loved....amazing what LOVE can do! Thank you
Pete...Pete...PEEEEETE come heereeee 🥰🥰🥰😂😂😂
Pie is so special He is my favorite Bird, He is a real Superstar! And very mischievous to Maple! Lol!
You asked about Spice in another comment. Spice is doing great! When Pie is talking, then Spice usually backs up and gives him more space.
@@chv72 thank you Dear now I understand.
Pie is magnificent. I can watch him and listen to him all day. You were terrific to teach him because he loves to talk. Great birdynality.
I cant believe how many more words and phrases pie has learned since i last watched some of your vids. Such an intelligent bird.
Hello pie! Love your videos and all the wonderful birds ❤️
Peach, you better just come there!! 😂
Ohhhhh, I just LOVE your little Pie 💕🐦...... I have a European Starling, which I rescued as a baby bird. I called him Jackson. He talks a lot. He also says "Goodnight sleep tight".... His vocabulary is incredible (Eastern Cape, South Africa ❤️🌍)
