  • This is the story of a little baby magpie that we found in a back alley in June of 2018 with dead crows and magpie chicks all around.
We just couldn't leave him in the alley to end up like the other birds so we brought the little chick home to care for.
Please click the link below to see the baby crow that we rescued from this same horrible alley.

honestly crows, ravens, and magpies are part of the same family so they are vary smart compaired to most other birds and are vary likely to try to mimic or maybe even talk to people with the words they have learned

Pie is God's gift to you for being the good hearted people you are.Magpie chicks remind me of the baby robins we would find fallen from a nest some springs, I loved them, they were the strongest and fistiest, yo knew they could like if they had a chance where other baby birds were too fragile. We rescued a few that flew away or stayed in our yard but never like this.
I cannot even get my cat to behave and stay close to me outdoors so well.

wow , loving the whole family dynamics ... my neighbors think that I am somewhat crazy because of being able to and wanting to make pals with three wild magpies . The three of them started coming around when ever I went outside , and I do mean landing within a 5 foot area of me calling to them . I do admit to feeding them , and they respond to my calling them , plus my bonus is that they now speak to me in their differing tonalities , which is absolutely amazing to me . They have just started to come to my in house office window and call me to go outside and feed them , but it must be much more than that , because they always seem to be around when ever I work outside in the yard , and have begun communicating much more than usual , even when it is not feeding time for them . The crow family is amazing to me as to their intelligence ... thanks for the posting , T...

I live in saskatoon and I walk my parrot and dog in the wooldlawn cemetery and I found a old crow that did not seem able to fly and I brought him food and water everyday for weeks until one day I didnt see him anymore. I am not sure what happened to him, but I feel badly that I didn't do more for him. I should have taken him in and nursed him back to health. You both are such a inspiration to me and a blessing to these magnificent creatures ✌

It seems that this human race is divided into horrible people and wonderful people. The two of you did great work in nursing Pie, feeding him, and helping him become a beautiful healthy magpie! We had a similar story in the 90's in Norway. He was quite a character. It took a very long time to nurse him back to health. After that he just decided to move in for good. He went and came as he pleased. During the days, his favorite thing to do was to ambush and harass the post woman who was terrified by him. He crashed every picknick he came over at the local beach, we lived on a farm 500m away and often heared screaming when this crazy Magpie walked all over the food he could find among all the strangers. In the evenings when he was tired, he knocked on the window to come inside to sleep. One very hot and dry summer someone was smoking a cigarette in the kitchen, The Magpie snatched it and went flying out the window over the barn. We expected the worst, but after 10 min he returned with the cigarette still burning in his beak. It would have been complicated to explain the insurance company the situation if he had accidentally burned down the whole thing. The stories go on and on, too many funny moments to mention here. He was a cool dude and lived a full and happy, although a somewhat unconventional Magpie life.

Awesome video , my cockatiel was going crazy to little Pie's cute calls and chatting ''come here'' wow incredible. I was told by someone once in the day's of Adam & Eve in the garden of Eden all the birds could talk, beautiful story I like to think it is true.
I found a baby Jack Daw last year, luckily the parents appeared after a few hours and were dive bombing me because I was holding their jack daw, I removed it out of the reach from a huge ginger cat who had it's an eye on it for lunch.
Luckily the baby Jack Daw's family took watch over it till it learned to fly, amazing watching the adults fly down to feed the baby. It is a fully grown huge adult now and the family all live in the chimneys above my house.
New Chicks soon, Spring time is here in the UK!

This is very dear. Pie came from tragedy. But how he responded so easily and trusted you. He hoped you would help him. And you always did. He is so pretty and smart and enjoying the life that you give him.
Thank you for sharing your world. It is embued with love and kindness. G-d bless you all.

I am new to the channel. I have never seen a Magpie before. I enjoyed watching you caring for these adorable birds. I have two cockatiels and five parakeets, all born in my home..the fly free...

About 2 years ago we saved a young woodpecker here in Bavaria .( He was somehow caught up in a fence and he was weak ).We called wildlife but they said they had too many birds and could not take him..So for about 2 weeks it was up to us to care for this little sweetheart ..I loved caring for him..I cried my eyes out the day he flew away, both happy to see him free, but yet I loved him...I know it was better for him ..( He liked to bite lol...but to me that was a good thing ..ok for him not so much for our fingers...) We named him Woody after the Woody Woodpecker cartoon...Tell the truth I was worried at first he was so weak, but when he started eating I knew he would be ok...

Please keep making more videos, we want to see these birds growing up. I hope they would stay in your family as they do. My daughter and I tried to save a robin chic. We had to feed her/him earth warms because she didn't eat the cat food. Unfortunately, as soon as we took her/him out, she/he flew away never to be seen again.

Thanks , it was life saving. I had no idea how to catch so many insects. In the middle of the video, I already fed it with soaked catfood. Loved it!

I found a baby magpie yesterday, I've been feeding it regularly and he's very vocal and today he started to really call for food.
The little cutie likes to be pet and is really chatty, so adorable :)
I feed him wet dog food and later I'll go look for some worms in the yard 😊

I also notice the magpies grab the cherry with their foot to eat while the Robbins run around pecking the cherry til they fly off with them.
