  • There's lots to love about this coastal explorer! Especially if you love boats that resemble rugged offshore vessels like pilot boats.

    A really lovely looking craft and layout, certainly would make my wish list. Dimensions and style are just about my ideal size and look I would be searching for and is right up my gangway. I like that I caught your other live stream, some weeks ago and so think this should be continued with. People just need to know when it is going to happen, as a regular spot, or as more one offs and irregular.

    What a sweet Boat!!! Jeez if I'd have had the sense to buy a boat like this when I was much younger, I or We might still be living on it today!! I think the layout is a Fantastic use of space, you could run all around the Pacific Northwest of the United States and Canada you could run different routes between Vancouver Island North to Alaska there are hundreds of inlets, Islands and Channels. She'd a perfect boat for that kind of cruising, rugged and reliable! Nice one John!!!

  • @Haladmer
    @Haladmer 6 месяцев назад +10

    For that range in a 49, at 20kn, that's a crazy amount of distance. So if you knock back to 8kn for distance cruising, you'd be pushing what, around 1000+nm on full tanks?
    The cabin layout is unique, would probably convert at least one of the unused cabins to a pantry and/or laundry space (probably that double off the day head) for longer term cruising.

      @MrDarcykampe 6 месяцев назад +3

      The numbers are a little off. 2900 liters is 767 us gallons. 150 liters an hour at 20 knots is 39.6 us gallons an hour. 400 miles at 20 knots takes 20 hours, which would be 792 gallons, which is more than its total capacity.

    • @Haladmer
      @Haladmer 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@MrDarcykampe He did say about 400nm, and at 20kn @ 39.6usg/hr, that's still ~380nm (19hr) range with ~15usg in reserve. So moving with following seas, it becomes a rounding error to 400nm lol
      Jokes aside, most of the recent boats I've seen in this size and price range @ 20kn are often well under 350nm range. Would be interesting to see the burn rates from 7 or 8kn, 10kn, 15kn, to really see what the cruising range might extend out to in real usage.

    Thanks for a tour of an interesting yacht. Nice looking, sounds as if it has good performance. Accommodation quite quirky, with three cramped staterooms plus a decent owner stateroom forward. Might be better off combining the two aft staterooms into one spacious stateroom. The helm is different, with most of the instrumentation off to starboard of the helm. Wish there could be a window/door next to the helm for access to the side deck for shorthanded docking.

    Interesting boat,a pilothouse door for captain would be great,especially with the nice wide side decks,and extended aft hardtop instead of canvas ,however it does have a co-pilot seating for help navigating,while most new boats neglect that important feature

    Salty enough on the outside for sure, and the helm would grow on me. But the layout is a bit weird to me. Portside cabin is one skull fracture after another. Virtually no storage in the galley (although it seems ample elsewhere)... and for all the skylights there still doesn't seem to be enough natural light below deck. And for 500k US there really shouldn't be any watermarks on the woodwork (10:07). But, that said, as always it's a great video and a great tour! Thank you!

    Lovely boat but…where do you store the dinghy? I like the layout and the hull form but I don’t usually associate 20knt cruise with explorer yacht. This looks like a lovely weekender or summer cruiser. Not a live aboard extended cruiser. Still, for that use case I can see where many would like it. Not sure about the dinghy though…

    One question I have about the New Yachts. Why are the stoves all electric? I hate electric stoves, Grew up with gas, every commercial kitchen has gas, why do all the new boats have these terrible electric stoves? Its not "Greener" takes 10% or more gas to produce the electricity that can create the same thermal reaction as the Gas used by its self as the heat source. THAT MEANS YOU ARE CREATING MORE POLLUTION RUNNING A GAS POWERED GENERATOR, TO PRODUCE ELECTRICITY TO RUN THE STOVE. Also YOU CANT PUT ENOUGH SOLAR PANELS ON A BOAT TO RUN IT, EVER. THE CARBON FOOT PRINT TO CREATE SOLAR PANELS FAR OUTPACES THE CARBOND FOOTPRINT OF GAS, FROM MINING TO MANUFACTURE TO USE... HOW IS THAT GREEN... Come on People. Stop being "Woke" TIME TO WAKE UP. You been dreaming to long, its becoming a nitemare...

    • @robertmosher7418
      @robertmosher7418 6 месяцев назад +11

      Because gas stoves on a boat have to be propane. Propane has two issues with use. One, it doesn't burn through like natural gas so leaves floracarbons in the air which lead to carbon monoxide poisoning. It's why you aren't supposed to use your gas grill inside your home. The second reason is propane is much more flammable than desiel fuel and have caused catastrophic fires on boats. When there is a fire on a boat, you have no where to go to get safely away from the flames. Sure you can jump into the ocean...but eventually you will drown.

    • @robertmosher7418
      @robertmosher7418 6 месяцев назад +7

      They aren't putting electric stoves on boats to be green. Green people shouldn't want a motor yacht as it serves no purpose. They use electric stoves and ovens because they produce no carbon monoxide inside the cabin and because you can only use propane on a boat which burns dirty compared to natural gas.
      Also, the desiel generator in the sealed engine room with it's fire suppressor unit is far less likely to cause a catastrophic fire because desiel is much harder to light on fire than propane which sparks very easily.
      So, it is a safety thing rather than saving the planet.

    • @lbcmotors9316
      @lbcmotors9316 6 месяцев назад +20

      Lpg gas is the most dangerous thing on a boat. Electric is much safer. Fire is the scariest thing any boat owner faces.

      Lots of new boats come with gas stoves. It’s a matter of personal preference. In most cases it’s not a major undertaking to change from one to the other.

      Gas is good until there is a leak. Electricity eliminates the risk explosive gases and carbon monoxide hazard. Cheers
