    I love your design modification and the creative way to add it to the exercise machine! That’s an amazing way to exercise while make healthy pure oil at the same time!

    By the way, we, each one us, can easily Shell Sunflower seeds right at home, using almost any coffee grinder, and then separate shells from kernels in any water (shells float and seeds go on bottom), then simply dry the seeds quickly, - always Fresh and not oxidized this way ! (videos on youtube doing this)
    Of course no need for everyone to oil-press with shells on and then turn Seeds into garbage...
    This works for Pumpkin seeds too

      Alan my friend who built all these isn't with us any longer so I am glad I got to make videos of him explaining his projects. Look for the playlist named Alan if you want to see some of the other things he built. He was a real do it yourself back to the lander !

    Very cool how you made the different nozzles with different size holes for different seeds. I got the stainless one with only 2 small holes on the sides and it keeps getting clogged and the threads get all gummed up. My cheep model doesnt have a bolt on the front so i am going to drill a quarter inch hole in it if it needs to be bigger i can do that. I will put different sise washers inside with different size holes. Then i saw your video 👏. I am trying to make neem oil mahalo any more hints?

      I think you have the right idea to keep trying different size holes until you find the one that works best.

    Hi Larry! We have the same Piteba press on our farm, trying to press sunflower seeds. We also noticed the threaded nozzle doesn't work at all, would it be possible to give us some more detailed info about your nozzle? Dimensions, how you made it, etc? We'd really appreciate it!

      This is of a friend of mine and he is a machinist so he made that new nozzle . I will ask him and get some detailed measurements on it next time I see him. Basically it is just tapered so there are no inside threads for the hulls to get stuck on . Even with the new one he acted very fast once he stopped pressing and got it off and punched out the stuff before it hardened up . If you have a local machinist around where you live they could probably have them make one for you . I know my friend made one for someone else - I can see if he made any extras . Not sure when I will get down there to ask him - in the next month probably .

      Here are he dimensions - any machinist should be able to use these plans to make one for you. ruclips.net/video/i6Ch6TNdlhs/видео.html

      Yeah that is the reason Alan later on motorized the oil press.

    Is this still considered cold press?

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  4 года назад

      I am not sure . I just looked up on google What is cold pressed oil and the first three things I read are all a bit different. There may be some distinction according to the temperature of the oil when pressed. I never took the temperature of the oil so don't know where it falls in according to various definitions.

    Since your friend has motorized his Piteba press, could you please share details about the gearmotor and shaft coupler specifications? HP, torque etc.. A photo would help too.

      @LarryKapp1  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah I should call him and schedule a time with him a time so I can make a video of him explaining exactly what he used and how he did it all. Maybe in the next week or two perhaps.

    Hello Mr. Kapp, my name is Taylor and I am a student at the University of Kansas working with a Piteba press to produce soybean oil. My team and I are having difficulties with the stock nozzle that came with the press, namely it clogging with the cake, and are hoping to make our own nozzle following your friend's design. Would your machinist friend be willing to share his design with us, or perhaps the size of the tap he used for the threading between the nozzle and the press?

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  7 лет назад +1

      Yes I am sure he would be happy to share the info with you . Send me an email so I can get you the info . I sent you facebook message if I got the right person - check your "other " messages there.

      Hi Taylor and Larry, just wondering if one of y'all could please share the design with me? I'm working with an makerspace here in Morocco interested in using the Piteba press for olive oil production. Thanks in advance

      Yes I would be very much appreciative of this too. I have experience rendering industrial designs in Sketchup and could produce a milimeter scale reproduction to take to your local machinist. Message me here or on facebook: Bram van Overbeeke

      Also it would be nice to see the actual setup your friend made. The gearing, the chain, the way it was mounted, etc. We can all go reinvent the wheel or just go with what works :) For instance: was there a flywheel involved there on the bottom?

      I will go over to my friends place one of these days and see if I can do an update on the press with more details . He did take it off of the peddle power and has it running on a motor now cause it is easier on his knees.

    Sir,Can i use a 200 watt ac motor instead of handle to expell the oil?
    Plz answer me..

      Sorry I didn't see your comment until now - 200 watts should work . If you look at the playlist on my youtube page labeled Alan you will see other videos on how he converted the pedal power to use a motor .

    I'm having difficulties with the measures here. How much sunflower to how much oil in kilos and mililiters?

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  8 лет назад

      about 3.7 liters of dry sunflower seeds made 0.5 liter of sunflower oil

      I saw my friend - he said it is 6 parts sunflower seeds and you get one part oil. And he has since motorized this so no more peddle power !

    • @kerplunkboydotNET
      @kerplunkboydotNET 8 лет назад +1

      Thank you very much! But the charm of it is the independence of power. I mean for people with "less resources", pedal is an economic alternative, although tougher. I was thinking about the people here in Brazil. They don't produce sunflowers that much, but the same machine is used for peanut, corn and soy beans. I got curious about the sunflower but according to what you said, soy beans and corn have a better ratio and are more available. People here use small dams to power their mills and these mills are "public" the community join forces to buy one or two and all can share.

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  8 лет назад +1

      Yes - it is nice to be able to make oil the low tech way by just human power. If you have not seen it - take a look at the other video on my page of the same pedal wheel base when it had a flour mill on it. ruclips.net/video/ZIH5hAEfK3I/видео.html

    whats the different head piece?
    These are available on Amazon and ebay

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  9 лет назад +5

      Not available to buy. My friend is a machinist and fabricated his own. If you had a local machine shop they could probably make one fairly easily . The main thing is that it is tapered smooth so it doesn't have any threads or edges for the husks get hung up on.

    • @Jedidiahwiebe
      @Jedidiahwiebe 8 лет назад

      are you using sunflowers with husks on?

    • @LarryKapp1

  • @TheMurasaki1

    what is the wick for?

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  8 лет назад

      You need to heat up the output spout before you start grinding so that the oil will flow and the extracted sunflower seed meal does not get too hard inside the spout.

    • @TheMurasaki1
      @TheMurasaki1 8 лет назад

      Larry Kapp Thank you for this clarification. Another question: isn't there any chance that the heat may alter the quality of the oil?

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  8 лет назад +1

      My friends says that you could probably take that flame away once it gets going because it generates it's own heat from compressing the sunflowers to extract that oil. But it is not a lot of heat , and most likely does not alter the oil. I mean most people cook with the oil and it gets a lot hotter than that. I don't see any other way to press this oil in this manner without making some heat to do it. There is a lot of friction happening in that press.

    • @TheMurasaki1
      @TheMurasaki1 8 лет назад

      Larry Kapp Thank you for this Larry. Just one note on cooking the oil: I was asking the above question because I don't use oil for cooking because it is unhealthy ;) heating the oil destroys the properties of its composition

    • @LarryKapp1
      @LarryKapp1  8 лет назад

      Probably the best oil that is unheated in any way is olive oil from what I have read about it.
