That is SOOO sad...I wish I had not watched it....she has sung this so beautifully all her life, but her heart simply wasn't in that rendition. She was then eighty something? Montserrat was THE voice of the last century.. Her floated pianissimo notes were legendary.. God! How I loved her voice!

I love this song by this duet. Two obviously professional singers of such different ages. I have listened to it at least a dozen times. I always watch their interaction as they come onto the stage, and then their stance as the introduction builds up, and then their plunge into the song. They are two beautiful singers and two beautiful women.

No tiene ningún sentido lo que dices por la simple razón que el análisis de tu oido es equivocado. En el mismo recital con otra canción más exigente se notaba que Caballé cantaba con más fuerza que su querida pupila, lo que dice mucho de lo que daba todavía. The one video of a young and older Diva is gone now. It was the best version of Belle Nuit I ever did hear. One black piano was the only Instrument aside from the two females' voices. A subscriber called gentlemani had uploaded it seven or so years ago. I left a comment to say that i.had seen or heard nothing finer in the whoke world. Wish i remembered their names. Young one had straight black hair to shoulder. Could have been a young Anna Netrebko. And older one was a Dame/Madame? Her hair loftily piled on top of head. Older one may have been the Monserrat but not certain. Two very professiinal singers with the young one having a deep strong voice and older one high and lush sound and i was so in heaven the hundredth time i listened to it, i did not think to record names. Thought it would be a video that everybody knew of. The current gentemani i doubt if he is any relation to the former whose profile has been gone/hidden for at least rwo years maybe three years. I would love to see that video again before i die.

La peculiarità di questo pezzo viene dall'armonizzazione completa delle due voci, che spesso debbono risuonare come fossero un unico strumento. In questo caso si notano gli sforzi della Caballè (basta guardare quanto deve aprire la bocca per afferrare le note più alte - colei che dava grandi acuti a labbra socchiuse) ed i virtuosismi della Kazlaus, che appaiono assolutamente fuori luogo.

Dal mio punto di vista ci sono due nei: 1- la Caballè, che giustamente, data l'età ed il calo fisiologico della voce, passa la parte del contralto, più agevole per lei in questo momento; non è questo il neo, quanto la mancanza di corpo della sua voce (adesso), che non riesce ad armonizzarsi con i picchi del soprano; 2- Nomeda Kazlaus dà troppa forza alla sua voce; dovrebbe capire l'importanza di chi ha accanto e la necessità di dosare il vigore della voce, che spesso copre la Caballet...
It's obvious who has the better technique. Caballe at 80 even singing the mezzo part still covers over the soprano voice with her unmatched technique. And that girl who sings the soprano part, please look how Caballe sings and fix your technique. Her sound is thick and doesn't have the squillo to carry over a big orchestra. Her big,heavy dark voice is just not enough.
When Montserrat died we lost one of rhe greats ...
