What makes that Euro 2000 final match even more iconic was Wiltord scoring the equalizer in the 4th minute of extra time to send the game into overtime.
For me the worst Netherlands moment was losing the Euro 2000 semi final at home against Italy missing 2 penalties in regular time and then losing the penalty shoot out.
7-1 is terrible scoreline, but by far the worst moment for Georgia was losing at home in the playoff final against North Macedonia. We had the final at home, but because of COVID regulations it was played in front of empty seats and our star man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia got COVID 2 days before the match. It was horror for us and heaven for North Macedonians. Luckily we got the second chance and this time we were allowed to the stadium and Kvara was playing. P.S. Shout-out to North Macedonians, nothing but love. You got your chance and you took it.
That Switzerland vs France game was W-I-L-D. I nearly switched it off when Pogba scored that 3rd goal, thank heavens I decided to see it out and witness Swiss brilliance. Game of the tournament. I watch the highlights every now and again.
Worst moment for Austria was being knocked out in the group stage in 2016, when they had played brilliantly in the qualifiers and were considered something of a dark horse.
Great video. There's no denying France's 2000 win but did you just completely skip over Platini's French side of 1984?! Talk about iconic. His individual performance alone in that campaign is the greatest in Euro history. Not to mention the France/Portugal semi-final from that competition.
As a Dutchman. While losing to Hiddink's Russia was awful. Losing the semi to Italy IN AMSTERDAM on pens, after missing 2 in regular time is worse. Rumour has it that Stam's penalty landed in Mount Vesuvius.
Isnt Turkey s worst moment being absolutely shit and finishing with 0 points last Euros? I mean, with that semifinal loss to Germany it is heartbreak but at least they were there, the last Euros were just pure pain, especially going into it as dark horses. And as a Romanian, yes, that Albania loss was ridiculous, imagine holding France to a draw till the 89th minute, drawing Switzerland and still somehow not qualifying because you lose to fucking Albania. As for Euro 2000, sadly I wasn’t born then yet to experience it but that was definitely the best one
