Please Timothee. Would you do the reaction to Oliver & Co (1988) with her? It's a really important movie in Disney's history as it's the one that made them make the decision to release a new film every year.
For me it was when Joy was stuck in the pit, thinking Riley won't ever be happy again, and she says "Do you remember... when she used to stick her tongue out when she was coloring?" I was on the verge a few seconds before that, but THAT line instantly broke / "emotionally sneak-attacked" me (!). In fact: To answer his question he asked everyone at the beginning- I was 30 years old when this came out, but I did not see it until a few years later (at home with my roommates). This was the first movie I can remember ever strongly triggering tears from me (yes, at age ~33). Not only that, it was the first time in my life when I actually felt the link between tears and the feel-good brain endorphins that often get released with them (just "the right balance" of circumstances I guess!). No doubt due to those neurotransmitters etc... I noticed after that movie, I was craving MORE tearjerkers... when all my life PREVIOUSLY, I'd always avoided them and didn't react much to them if I DID see them! At first I was REALLY surprised by that craving... until I did a bit of research and then it actually made sense lol. So, this was THE movie that basically turned me into a "tearjerker seeker" :P
A fact I adore is how the thing Riley is struggling with isn't some big Trauma (TM), seeing how something like moving can affect you, especially when so young - it feels very refreshing and validating for them to focus on that.
One of the most relatable movies ever because it shows the struggle of growing up and getting used to moving away from home. It also shows that sometimes, you need a little sadness in your life.
Your last statement is SO totally true: To answer his question he asked everyone at the beginning- I was 30 years old when this came out, but I did not see it until a few years later (at home with my roommates). 35:50 "Boy Band Island" HAS to be foreshadowing of 4*Town since Riley turns out to be a 4*Townie in the sequel (I haven't seen it yet, that was in the trailers.)
This movie is INCREDIBLE with color theory. Riley: striped shirt as they're moving with all colors on them to show theyre in harmony, or so it seems. yellow jacket on the first day of school because she's still young enough to be excited. Striped shirt sans blue and yellow at the dinner table because all of her emotions are fighting for control with joy and sadness gone. Black jacket because she's emotionally shutting down. Emotions: joy has blue hair, backing up the theory joy and sadness go hand in hand. Disgust has a purple ascot, suggesting disgust is mainly motivated by what scares us. Anger is wearing a red tie showing how when were angry, we can't see, hear, or feel anything else. Think, "seeing red". And finally Sadness is wearing a white turtleneck as a combination of all the emotions, like how all light is combined to make white light.
When they're tossing memories, they're not just getting rid of stuff she doesn't need. They're getting rid of stuff that was associated with the island that was just destroyed. And for the record, if at any point you've ever said, "I'm not a kid anymore.", that's how you know YOUR goofball island has been destroyed.
People who have goofy personalities may have other interests broken down upon growing. You'd know you've grown up if you let go of things you once loved.
Inside Out was a really good movie and knew to show the hard transition between childhood and teenage. Riley's situation hits really my heart and characters are fun and sometimes offer also really emotional moments. Bing Bong's death is just sad and Joy has an evolution quite well written. One of the best Pete Docter's films.
honestly feels like everyone wants to get mad at sadness for touching the memory and stuff, but i feel like she cant help it? like- Riley wants to feel that, and express it- but sense shes trying to bottle it up-...ya know?
Sadness doesn't touch the memory to make it sad. These memories have changed from being something Riley had to being something Riley lost. They are objectively sad. It's Sadness's job to take care of them now. She's the only one suited to care for them in Riley's new situation. It's the same when Dad leaves their mock hockey game for work or when Riley goes to her first day of school. These situations are objectively sad on their face. Sadness doesn't make them sad. It's just her job to drive when things are sad.
@@Maniac742 I don't meam that she makes them sad in reality. She makes them feel sad for Riley because she needs them to be sad now, they are not supposed to be happy anymore.
I was 15 when "Inside Out" came out. Now I'm 24. And I cannot believe it's been 9 years. This movie is one of the rare few that ages well. Easily a favourite, relatable and memorable movie for me. Inside Out is one of my all time favorite Disney & Pixar movie. I actually learned a lesson when I was 11 years old that it's okay to be sad sometimes. I'm excited to see Inside Out 2 in theaters.
I can really relate to Riley. I had to move away from my best friends when I graduated elementary school and I still think about them❤ I miss them so much, it’s important to not bottle up your emotions. It’s good to cry every once in a while. I remember seeing this movie in theaters when it first came out! Me and my sister got disgust and joy and sadness plushies. This film means a lot to me, it’s so good!💗💖 thank you so much for watching this masterpiece! I love your reaction!🥹
Inside Out is definitely one of Pixar's best movies. It’s not afraid to tackle topics such as anxiety and depression. As a person who’s been suffering from both things it really hits home for me. I was in a very depressive state a few years and I decided to watch this movie in my depressed state. So it did help a little a bit. Life is full of ups and downs. We can never be happy all the time if we were always happy all the time then we would never know what true happiness is.
I feel like I may be the only one in this boat, but when I first watched inside out I was mad at joy rather than sadness, most people are mad at sadness but I was mad at joy for trying to keep things always positive when other emotions being expressed were needed
I was 10 years old when the first movie came out and Riley was 11 years old for most of the film. We were pretty much the same age, so I could relate to her a little. I'm excited for the sequel, because I'm sure I can relate to her in the sequel. I know some teens that would agree lmao
I was 8 when the first movie came out. And now I’m turning 17 the day the second one comes out June 14 🔥🔥 so excited. Not only cause it’s my birthday but also get to watch this movie with my family on the big screen 🎉🎉
2:45 - When we are babies our brain is still constantly developing. Before about the age of 3 we lack the ability to commit actual conscious thought to our long term memory, thus the earliest memory most people have will be around the age of 3. Our brain is still developing habits though, and creating the neural pathways it will use to learn and make memories as we grow beyond the age of 3. So this is why people who are exposed to this such as music, and/or art, and/or languages as babies will have an easier time learning and appreciating those things as an adult. Also why someone who is exposed to trauma as a baby may develop aversions or anxiety to whatever that trauma is despite not consciously remembering it. So the memories are in there, you just can’t remember them as conscious thoughts.
Love your reactions with Mabread, you’re both enjoyable and it would be great to see an IT reaction together for Halloween as IT is a movie you shouldn’t watch alone. Have a good day.

Y’know looking back more grown up, this movie doesn’t really hold up as well, and feels very childish now. lol I’m just kidding, this movie holds up phenomenally and is still one of Pixar’s best. The sequel should have a hard time matching the exact same emotions this one had, but I am still excited for it, and is very much deserved
