When monsters want to get away from it all, they go to Count Dracula's (Adam Sandler) Hotel Transylvania, a lavish resort where they can be themselves without humans around to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula invites creatures like the Invisible Man, the Mummy and others to celebrate the 118th birthday of his daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez). However, an unforeseen complication unfolds when an ordinary human unwittingly crashes the party and falls in love with Mavis.

By the way, the "blah blah blah" joke is a bonus for those who know. Bela Lugosi, the actor who starred at the classic Dracula film, was of Hungarian origin and had such a thick accent that sometimes it was almost impossible to understand him (in particular, he pronounced "blood" as "bluhd"; and this is why Drac here speaks with an accent).
And also... did you notice that Frankenstein, despite being scared of fire, pays no heed to candles with which the hotel is lit? A goof, perhaps
Bela Lugosi also gets an homage in the second movie. Drac's father's right-hand-monster is a giant bat-like creature named Bela. He's the one who attacks Winnie and Dennis in the woods, making Dennis angry enough to trigger his vampire fangs and powers.
The thing that is crazy about this is the fast pace animation and Adam Sandler playing a genuine character. It’s actually a good performance from him. This and his tribute song to Chris Farley which can bring a tear to your eye.
“I do not say bleh bleh bleh!” Best line in the movie. Always cracks me up!😄

Best bit in the franchise! That line has been said at least once or twice in each movie.
I love this movie and it’s sequel! My favorite is when Johnny asks if a wooden stake would kill him and Dracula says, “Yeah, well, who wouldn’t that kill?” 🤣
That's actually a good point.
Perfect way to start off the spooky season and to celebrate the film's tenth anniversary. This is easily one of the best Adam Sandler films and one of those fun films to watch on Halloween.

I love this movie despite some poorly aged songs and the toilet humor, I really like the portrayal of Jonny and Dracula's friendship and the dynamic animation.
Also if you're talking requests, it would be great if you'd make a reaction to Planet 51.

My nephews love this movie so much we made it a tradition to watch it every Halloween
First day of October and the spooky movie reactions roll in. Hotel Transylvania is a classic animated film that I enjoy very much, with its high level of slapstick comedy, wonderful cast, and great story!

The only problem I have with this movie is, Why is Quasimodo here. Isn't he technically a human?

For as many low brow humor as there is in this movie, I really do like it a lot! I think its because of how creative they got in in creating all the famous horror characters and how super fast-paced it is (which always make me laugh). Its one of Adam Sandler's best roles in the 2010s and I wished he did more voice acting cause he's really good at it.
Yeah the whole butts and dance/concert parts at the end seem to be a modern animation movie trope now. At least you don't get that in PIxar movies. There are no butt jokes in classic Disney films and there is neither in foreign animated movies.
Yeah that's true. This is one of (if not) the best movie from Adam Sandler, period.

I got here a little late but I Really adore this movie so much. I was invested from the beginning with your reactions and comments here a lot . I enjoyed it all . While slightly justified, what drac did to Mavis was just horrible, the trauma from that alone could scar her for afterlife
But then he made up for it by putting his life at risk

I know the Hotel Transylvania movies aren't perfect, their level of silly, immature or gross-out jokes doesn't work for everyone, but I still love them a lot and I really hope you're going to react to all of the sequels (I'd say my personal favorite of the sequels is the third movie ^^ )

For Dracula and his daughter turning into a bat and flying around wherever you want to go must be very fun.
Tartakovsky has done a great job of layering a realistic image over such lamentable animation. In my opinion, I have not seen this even in the Illumination films.

A neat detail about this series is the inclusion of Dracula’s other lesser known powers, such as turning into a mist, and shape shift into other animals.
Sony had to follow strict rules when it came to character design due to copyright and trademark issues with Universal. For instance, Dracula couldn't have a red cape or Bela Lugosi's "widow's peak". Frankenstein couldn't be green or have electrodes on his neck plus his wife couldn't be called the Bride of Frankenstein or have the Bride's trademark lightning bolt hair streaks.

A great way to start off the spooky season off with Hotel Transylvania! Now you definitely got to watch the rest of the sequels after this one like immediately, also another Halloweenie underrated animated special you should check out is the Scary Godmother cartoon special that used to play a lot on TV back during the eaely to mid-2000s era. It an real fun and enjoyable little animated gem that sometimes don't get a lot of attention on it.

And Then a saw a preview for the film in The Lego movie DVD.📀 28:27 The flashback scene this whole scene scared me as a little children. Martha(Drac’s late Wife) and Young Mavis are voiced by Adam Sandler actually wife and child. Jackie and Sadie Sandler. Respectively. Sadie also voices Winnie(The daughter of Wayne and Wanda.

To be honest, I really liked the first 3 movies of the franchise. Despite many people disliking it, I enjoyed the 3rd film. I don't see why people see it so negatively.

I absolutely love this movie and I’m so glad you reacted to it. It’s such a fun ride and I love how it’s something that both kids and adults can watch together and have a genuinely good time. I like that it’s putting out the message of accepting others even if they’re different and moving past negative experiences to be able to move on into the future. Both with the monsters and humans. It’s actually really wholesome. Drac was able to accept a human as his son in law even though humans were the ones that killed his wife for no reason and humans learning to co-exist with monsters and even become fans of them because of media. Really cool.

34:13 I DO have one question that I'm VERY confused about.
If this werewolf pup is Winnie, and Mavis and Johnny's son Dennis likes Winnie by the time Dennis turns 5 years old, HOW OLD IS WINNIE WHEN THEY'RE BESTIES??? She's supposed to be a baby in this movie, and a small child in the next one.
If she's a toddler here, let's estimate she's a VERY eloquent 2 year old, and Mavis doesn't even announce she's pregnant until a year after her wedding to Johnny, that would mean Dennis is born about 2 years (give or take) after the events of this movie. Then he has to age 5 more years. That would mean Winnie is about 4 years older than Dennis... If you do the math based on the estimations I just made, she's 9 when he's 5. But in the next movie, they look and act like they're the same age. What's going on???

The first movie is actually pretty good. It can get a few laughs out of me and a lot of other people. The sequels however… did downgrade the franchise. Which makes the first pretty obsolete.

I don't doubt mavis Dracula is capable of defending herself, and she's capable of killing me.
Murray the Mummy was voiced by Cee Lo Green and was actually supposed to have a musical number but it didn't make the cut in the movie. Plus, due to his arrest Cee Lo Green didn't reprise the role. Keegan Michael Key took over the role in the sequels.
