His confidence was literally the main factor to his victory, he understood Usman's ability and respected it, but did not fear the man whatsoever.

Great to see someone who had been living the role of unnoticed and uninteresting guy in the room while doing all the hard work in the gym finally takes the spotlight and alpha status in his division. He's the living testimony of "real G's works hard in silence".

What an amazing performance. Leon’s standup is so technical and his takedown defense was next level. He’s also so composed in octagon, he never presses or seems to get flustered, just fights his fight. What a great champion, beating Usman in back to back fights, once emphatically and then to out point him via convincing decision is incredibly impressive.

It's crazy 2 years ago I remember reading articles online about him saying "Leon Edwards, Boring Fighter Will be Cut Soon" about him not being active on social media and not fighting exciting opponents etc. just media that was weird and I didn't even know who he was at the time. Amazing fight! Leon's takedown defence is next level and the striking so precise and had power behind way more shots than Usman even if the total strikes were close (idk the numbers) He was losing the 3rd and the cage grab was a fair loss of point but he didn't leave it to chance. 4 rounds to 1 48-46. Headshot dead, AND STILL dead!

TBH I thought Kamaru would come out and win this like he was winning most of the fight last time, then in the first round it looked like Leon was right, Kamaru was hesitant after being knocked out. What an impressive performance. Next level takedown defense. Congrats to Leon.
Leon’s take down defense and his ability to get right back up once taken down was the story of the fight.

I really think that the high altitude during the 2nd fight was what caused Leon so many problems. He won that first round, and then got very exhausted very quickly. This time, he won the first round and then maintained that same pace throughout.
It was a superbly clean and technical performance from Leon. The level of concentration from him throughout to meet and outwit someone like Usman in the ring is remarkable. Good luck to him
Usaman was/is on EPO. The ufc set him up to lose to exhaustion.

This is one of the most satisfying victories iv witnessed..when I use to tell ppl I was a leon Edwards fan they would either say "who" or "really" n I always thought he had vry crisp Striking with both hands n feet with enough power n speed to beat anyone..so pumped he has risen to the top..n 2 back to back wins over Usman a knockout n a decision victory when dana was saying b4 Usman Edwards 2 that usman was heading towards best ever n most dominant which was a true statement

@@lewis9728 oh definitely no crying here. Honestly I'm not a fan of either one and wasn't really looking forward to the main event as much as I was the co-main event. I think I probably only watched the first two rounds and then part of the third round and then just stopped watching the fight because it wasn't really that exciting and I was getting kind of tired of seeing Leon blatantly cheating and acting as though he didn't know what he was doing when he got deducted a point. There aren't too many guys that I particularly care for in welterweight division except for maybe Gilbert Burns, Stephen Thompson, Michael Chiesa and Shavhat Rakhmonov. So it didn't really matter to me who won the main event but I just don't like blatant cheating and then acting as though they didn't do anything. Leon does seem like a pretty cool dude though. I definitely didn't like it when he got sucker punched by Masvidal. Whatever though. I'm looking forward to next week's fight card 👍

Yeah the welterweight division just doesn't appeal that much to me but I think Gilbert Burns definitely deserves a shot because he's everybody that the UFC has asked him to. He doesn't complain. He just wants to stay active but also get what he deserves which is a title shot. But now that you've got Khazmat in the mix that makes things a little interesting that's if he can make weight or if he wants to stay in that division. Jorge will never be champion. And honestly I can't see Colby being champion either. But you're right weirder things have happened. Who would have ever thought that Valentina Scehchenko would have gotten submitted. But Alexa Grasso put together a great game plan and she's going to be a great champion as well. Oh well take care my friend. Enjoy the fights. I don't know if you're into other fight organizations but ONE FC has some really great fights and they're coming to the US in May I believe. Demetrius Johnson is the main event and Sage Northcutt is making his return. I'm curious to see how Sage is going to do this time.. ✌️

Leon dominated the stand up and defended almost every takedown. The few takedowns there were he stood right up.
Big up to the Brumtown champion 💯💯💯always knew he could do it , he’s got a great understanding of the use of techniques and patience and executes his hits accurately as usual. He knows that you have to learn more in this game and train and learn different things to improve his self to best himself. He has worked hard and beat one of the beasts in this division, well done and big up to Big Leon champion of the world, great fight and even losing many points he still had more points banked from a fantastic performance.
Just how Dana said that Colby was next without talking to Leon, makes me see Francis's case more clearly..The champion has no say, the UFC needs to clean up the it's practices...

champ shouldnt have say. this isnt boxing, maintaining competitive integrity dictates you fight the best fighter up. even ufc is guilty of not doing that well enough. in this case they are.

As an a fellow man from the West Midlands, not sure if I'm being too biased but I don't see how it was as close as a fight as what people are saying.
The rounds Leon won were clear wins for him whilst the one round you could say Usman won was not a clear one. Even the point Leon got deducted, after that I feel Leon won the round (meaning it was a 9-9 round)
I must be biased but no denying Leon's performance was unbelievable!

in addition to his skills this kid has an imposing figure. 6'3", impeccably built, fast, strong, technical stand up, p4p takedown defence and now very very confident. I can't see anyone beating him for a long time. Colby and Islam might struggle more here than against Usman. Shavkat could be his toughest challenge.
Leon trained with Islam and Khabib at AKA when he was still a grappling novice so he done the right thing clearly.
He will never need to be a better wrestler than these Dagestanis and the top US College Wrestlers. He has enough game to hold his own, he has clearly worked on his TDD to maybe a new level for MMA, plus he is a BJJ black belt.
Not a bad base for someone who is often considered the greatest striker in the division (along with Wonderboy)

I was so impressed how Leon was able to defend Usman's take downs. You know he has been working on that in the gym. to put it into practice was brilliant, especially against some one like Usman.
Yup and the couple times he did get taken down he got right back up which was very impressive. Usman usually is able to keep fighters down once he gets them down. Leon got up quick without taking any damage down there.
The problem with usmans take down is that he doesn't threaten any submissions. Colby covington always threatens to rear naked chokes so people never feel safe turning their back to him that's kamaru biggest mistake

The biggest issue I have with Leon saying “ Colby just sat out for a year he don’t deserve a title shot” is that when they asked the other day if Conor Mcgregor, who only has Wins over Cowboy Cerrone & Nate Diaz at WW , we’re to win against chandler & challenge for a title , Leon said he’d be down , also You Think Jorge Deserves it Coming off of 3 losses Two against the man you just beat & The other against the man you JUST said hasnt done anything. Just had to point that out
McGregor is a money fight no one can deny. That being said I think a Colby fight would get him more money compared to Jorge... just more risky.

Absolutely amazing. I've been to Brum, just on a holiday visited some girls living in a uni there. And I loved it. It was a rough town won't lie but hey lucky I had some African friends and I had a good tan from Australia haha. I had a top night at Gatecrasher and got some jerk chicken after. Yum! I'm going back in a year or two and would love to eat at Mumma Edwards shop. You are a great fighter and a great son. Congratulations mate!!

Beating usman over 5 rounds arguably 4-1 (I had it 5-0 without his round 3 actions) is an incredible achievement. I did not see anyone being able to beat usman over 5 rounds, I thought he’d have to be finished to lose a fight but leon showed who’s the better martial artist tonight. Git up leon lad 🏴
