@@ssk58607 I myself was born in an overseas British territory but raised in England and lived in Scotland… it’s much easier to just say UK, Jamaica is still part of the commonwealth (was part of the British empire) and Bisping was born in Cyprus on a UK army base and also has a polish surname 🤷🏻♂️ the British empire had 25% of the land on earth so British can mean a lot of different countries, some choose to represent the flag and some don’t

I agree. Also people comparing Makhachev moving up to 170 with Leon moving up to 185 doesn't make sense. Makhachev has 6 finishes in last 7 fights while Leon has only 1 finish in the last 7 fights; majority decision vs Usman, split decision vs Nelson, no contest vs Belal. Makhachev is much more dominant fighter, he wouldn't be too small at 170 welterweight, while I am not sure if Leon would be too small or not at 185 middleweight.
@@timurjack8773no its no different, you could finish unranked bums and it wouldnt mean anything. Both of them need to defend their own titles, the ufc would be a mess if every champ decided he wanted to move up after 1 or 2 title defences

@Callum_04 , dominance is a factor. Leon is not dominant, even in his only recent finish win, he lost 3 rounds and was losing the fight until 1 minute. Unranked Lightweight Nate almost finished him, has no contest with Belal and split decision with Nelson. Makhachev dominate everyone, if its a choice between Leon and Makhachev who moves up first, it should be Makhachev.
Also, Cejudo had only 1 title defense before moving up, Conor had 0 defense before Dana gave Khabib's title shot to him, DC didn't even beat Jones, he just won vacant 205 lbs belt and defend 1 time then move up to 265 lbs. Adesanya also has only 2 title defenses vs Romero and Costa before moving up vs Jan at 205 lbs.
MVP would do extremely well to even get near a title shot.
Imagine him holding up 2 divisions. Dana will never let him do it unless he makes a few more title defenses close together.

Only Izzy fought 3x a yr, Usman once and Alex more recently... every other champ fights 2x at most, and some don't even fight once a yr like Stipe and Whittaker, Conor never defended and plenty other ex champs... even contenders like Colby fights once a yr on average if that, and he's not even a champ
Leon Edwards beat the pound for pound #1 fighter to win the belt, defended it against him, and is defending it for the second time next month. How is he inactive?
Leon just isn't active enough to be given the opportunity to fight for a second belt. If he was as active as Izzy or Volk then I'd be all for it. Izzy has had more than twice the amount of fights than Leon since we got into the 2020's. With the rate Leon is going, each belt would be defended around once every 2 years.

I agree but Colby gave Usman his hardest fights before Leon. I don’t think a fighter who isn’t top tier would be able to hang with Usman competitively which is what Colby did. I do think he should’ve been more active but he can only beat what is across from him.

@@ZahidulIslam-wh2pp Crystal ball reading isn't MMA. Leon puts on 15-20 pounds and he's one of the biggest and tallest elites at 185, exactly Khamzat's height, at 6'2".
But unlike 99% stand-up-Izzy, Leon has close to elite BJJ and actually very good wrestling. Dude's no joke.
I have to giggle, though, when 6'0" Dricus called Leon "little man"! "Have you seen me in person, little man?" LOL Again, 20 pounds to his lean, muscle frame and he towers over DDP.

Leon is fantastic, total Rocky story with how he won the belt. Never been finished, on a 13 fight unbeaten streak, has improved his takedown defence and ground game exponentially. He shouldn't look past Colby though, could easily lose a decision if he's not careful. Needs to be more active too, but definitely a great fighter and pride of Jamaica and the UK.

Facts, a 9 fight win streak before he got a shot at the title
The issue is that Perreira moved up to LHW after he lost the MW belt. He wasn't holding up the MW division when he moved up. That's completely normal and standard. Fighters can move up a wight class whenever they want if they're not holding up a belt. It happens all the time.
The issue with Leon is that he's currently the WW champ. You can't defend your belt ONCE and then talk about doing the simultaneous double champ thing. That's ridiculous. Volkanovski showed total domination of his division as the champ before doing it.
i like leon as much as the next guy but gotta disagree. Leon has only fought 2 people in the current WW top 15. Vicente luque and usman. Im not counting belal due to the short fight and no contest. I think there are way more interesting match ups for him at WW than middleweight. like shavkat, ian garry, jdm and even belal cos he does deserve it tbh.
