Thanks for another great comping lesson. The way you place your chords is amazing. I know there's no patterns to jazz rhythm, so it's really all about listening to the greats and watching your tutorials. Thanks so much!
I just finished 🎉to watch all of your videos “I mean all of them “ of course all them got a thumbs up 👍 I think is total 227 videos I’m not sure + mini lessons I have all the tabs written down ❤ it took me 7 months. It’s just the beginning of a long journey
You're so goddamn good! My freaking god!!! My apology for being gone a while, but "ordinary life" required it... ...meaning, among other things, saving up for a Larry Carlton. I obey, Sandra!
Very helpful Sandra and I love the way you introduce the theory when appropriate as it really adds to the experience. I'm trying to learn Solar for a challenge this month so have downloaded the pdf and backing tracks. I can't say I really knew the song although I will have heard it (as opposed to really listened to it). Playlist created and time to pick up the guitar! Wish me luck.
Thanks for another absolutely amazing comping lesson! I think that maybe it would be nice to hear a chord melody tutorial for the one and only Skylark!!!! ❤
Great insights! I used to play this with a trumpet player in a 5 piece. I wish I would have studied it more. Great ideas and chords👍😁. Would be interested in a ML discussing soloing ideas - that short form always pops up quickly 😂. Thanks!
Oh, great idea! What aspects of a solo would you want me to cover? Bc I'm pretty sure you know what scales etc to use? Thank you for your donation, Barry! ❤️
Hey Sandra… any insights that might come to mind - you always bring ideas from both the theoretical and mojo sides (that’s one reason I always enjoy your work!). Maybe, not only scale/arp choices, but how to set up for the transitions within the form. Getting back to that C- always feels so abrupt… weaving into a C- or Mel/min line seems logical…. But, doing so, smoothly… can be a stinker🥹. I haven’t played this in yrs, need to revisit. Just a thought. Great work, Sandra!@@GuitarversumSandraSherman
I eas thinking about your question for a while, bc I thought the solution to your "problem" is so logical, until I re-read it today. Don't use the melodic minor ob the last measure, to get to Cm. TheC harmonic minir scale is the best choice over to quickly go from Dø G7b9 to the beginning C-. On the Cm you can change to C dor, if you want to.
You certainly are,@@GuitarversumSandraSherman. Thanks you! (That Db∆7/Ab in the second run through sounds particularly interesting, not easy to master at speed, but tasty for sure!)
Miles didn't write this tune. It was written in 1948 by guitarist Chuck Wayne. Kills stole it from him just as he stole Blue in Green and Nardis from Bill Evans and Tune Up and Four from Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson. If you wanted to be in his band you had to put up with this, only Wayne was never in Miles band.

Yes, it's on my list already. I'll have to see if I can come up with a playaböe chord melody arrangement.
Thanks!
Thank you, sweet Luis! Your support means the world to me ❤️😘

@@GuitarversumSandraShermanthanks for your consideration time, Sandra! I’ll take a look at this. I appreciate your analysis and tips! Best🙌😁
These chord voicings really make even cliche sound sexy, very cool, gonna break out the old axe right away. 🙏👍💯
So glad to be an inspiration 😊.

@13:30 shouldn't that be labelled as Bb7/Ab innstead of Bb/Ab in the 8th bar of the 2nd chorus? Similarly for the Ab7Gb in bar 10.
Well, since the Ab is already the 7th of Bb, you can label it both ways 😊.
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman Yes, I agree. But since it is functioning as a 7th chord and not a major triad, I would tend to use Bb7.
Nice ❤❤❤❤❤
Many many thanks
do you use pinky when playing chords
Sure, gladfully I still have all my 5 fingers 😊
