If I spent as much time practicing as I do watching your videos, I would kick ass at guitar.
I'm thinking that too.
haha, same.
Amen Brother🤣
True true! 😂
Oh boy I feel that. In my stomach. Like a knifez
As an owner of the GP-200, this thing is amazing. I use it for everything: practicing, recording and even gigging and it has never failed me or given me any problems. This product is easy to recommend because of how good the value for the money it brings and any begginer that gets this, will be set for years to come because you really don’t need anything else (except for monitors obviously).
Do you HAVE to plug in in An amp, or can you also play through your pc speakers? Sorry im less then a novice...
@@kroketix you can plug it into anything u want . amp , speakers ,Pa etc
Mine arrived yesterday, wow! 😮
@@kroketix no worries! You can plug it into any speaker and you can also plug it into your pc/mac and use it as an audio interface to record in your DAW of choice.
@@MannyDemaga thank you! Really looking forward to my first multi-FX pedal!
Got mine (from Andertons) a couple of weeks ago now. Based on this review. Nailed it!
Couldn’t be happier
BY FAR, ONE OF THR BEST REVIEW “ quick tutorial “ VIDS I’VE SEEN.
I ORDER ONE ON LINE AS SOON AS VIDE WAS OVER. GREAT JOB GUYS!!!
I’m an old caveman that just took out his Roland VS-840 to start recording my rocking kids. If I actually understand how to use it with this quick demo I’m sure that anyone with a 1/4 of a brain can figure it out too. I barely know how to download apps on my phone 🤣
Yes I’m a freaking caveman.
My daughter is KILLING IT on the drums, so is there a way I can record her drums so she can play piano and saxophone to help her record her stuff. Son is the guitarist so this is mainly for him but I figured my princess can use it too.
Quite frankly all I can do is stare at my VS-840, then stare at the Bible size instructional manual and get really down on myself bc I can’t remember how to use it. It’s been 25 to 30 years ago since I last used it 😞
Sorry for long message but if anyone knows something I can use to record her drums I would REALLY appreciate it. Obviously I would have to get mics needed for it.
Thank you brothers & sisters 🤙🏽🖤🤙🏽
I'm in love with your YT Channel and all the work you've guys done for all of us around the world. Much love from germany for your afford! ❤ Rock ON and I'm really looking forward every day for some new content from you 😅👌
Someone at some point in time applied a pixel filter to an Andertons video in final cut pro ... and boom, Digital John is born. He'll never get rid of that name. :)
The Captain digging digital pedalboards is hysterical. I went all digital in 2018, sold pretty much all my gear taking up floor space and landed on a Line 6 Helix. Put a lot of money in my Mustang GT500 downpayment bank account. In fact I like it so much I sold most of my guitars too. I put over $10,000 into my bank account by selling guitars and going fully digital. Anyway, I play to a couch in my studio so having a ton of gear just wasn't necessary. I can get very close to every sound I need with a Helix.
i like Digital John. we need the traditional jams with him and everyone else on the channel.
Just bought mine yesterday hopefully it arrives soon!
As always, my favourite shop makes a fun video with a fun product. I have a Pod Go but kind of feel I could leave one of these in my gig / teaching bag and would never be bored on a break between lessons. I have a Spark, which is phenomenal but since I bought it there seems to be something that moves up a level every few months!
It's not for me, but I'm thoroughly astounded by the amount of R&D that went into this for the price. The little touches like the taller switches in the back and USB C are leaving more expensive units feeling a little lacking.
Well done 👏👏👏
I've been messing with mine for a couple of weeks now, and yesterday we had another firmware/software update! Now we have some added delays and things AAAND! movable effects loop option! Yay! I hope Digital John does a follow up with this one!
what is the use of USB C in this scenario? Thanks.
@@1972Georges Audio Interface. You can record your guitar's sound to computer with DAW (recording software) trough that usb c.
Soon all of those 3k high end effect processors will have a hard time justifying their prices...
@Pero R Close but not quite there yet. I still see a lot of these type units missing important parts in their sound that just doesn't work as well between studio versus stage. In a live environment (shows) it becomes even more apparent.
Agree
@Pero R (( For "Bedroom players" )) which is 95% of who the Music Industry sells to... It's OK, That's how we ALL start. Playing in a BAND, @ Stage volume, Completely Different.
Can't beat the Chinese, man.
They got cheap labors.
The cortex is only 2k new and its really showing its worth it. Or Kemper stage is starting at 1800
That higher back row foot switches thing is genius!
I just got one, and your video was an excellent introduction! Thanks!
Love the opening jam! Great vid chaps!
It may not be for everyone but I reckon for the low dollar it is compared to many other similar units of other brands it’s a decent well made piece of kit, plenty of good sounding FX, amps, cabs, IRs, looper, cheesy drums but there if you want it, you can’t really fault it for the price and easy to edit all parameters you want, good display and able to reorder FX in chain. I’ve used the GP100 and for its low price it sound pretty good if you’re willing to edit parameters to your desired tones you want and not expect presets to sound as you want straight away, you gotta be willing to work with any bit of gear to achieve your wanted tones.
I get paid on Friday and I’m gonna order one. Thanks for your review gents.
I have one of this and its impressive at the price point, lots of cool features. You can't go wrong with Digital John.
How far off is the tone from the big boys?
My partner Sarah saw me watching this and said “surely you aren’t going to buy more guitar stuff”, and I said “no, I’m only watching”, but I really want one of these now; I’ll probably get one now.
0:42 hearing this is my favorite part about John being on the videos lol... his badass playing is great to hear as well :)
Just bought this board! Cant wait to try it when it comes!!!!!
That opening riff was stirring!
What song is it?
‘Thank You’ ,,, I appreciate the brilliance of these gentlemen ✨🎶🎭🌾🎈
John is one hell of a Guitar player
Digital John is like the reverse Lawnmower Man.
That’s tremendous 🤣😂. John is like Digital Bob Ross.
I have no idea who that is but imma roll with it
@@johnconnearnmusic book/movie of the same name
Nearly spat my coffee out with that "DIGITAL JOHN" bit.
Then I actually did when "DIGITAL" returned! xD
Lots of great sounds in these Valeton units the only thing you need to do is set the volume of each patch as they are all over the place that way. They are solid units though!
Took you guys long enough..
This device seems really awesome!
Looks great. Especially for bedroom use & people who can’t afford a complicated dream pedal board. Loved my Boss ME-80.
The Boss ME80 is the easiest pedalboard to use and for me it is still the best even if it lacks amp and cab.
ME80 has amp sims. Cab sim is on automatically if listening through headphones/direct out (off through guitar out)
This blows away the me80 for sure
I like Digital John and these new pedals Hotone ampero, nux mg30, mx5, and this valetron. Very cool. Lots of fun for cheap!!! I think I'll buy them all eventually 😌
wauw, that guitar riff in the beginning, is a killer riff, the young man plays nice
What song is it?
I picked up a GP200R about three months ago to replace a 15-year-old Digitech RP1000...ZERO regrets. Solid build, fantastic tone, easy to mod in the editing software, and takes up FAR less space on my pedalboard.
you shouldnt need a pedal board ,that is the whole point
Literally had one of these arrive yesterday!
I'd love to hear your thoughts after testing it out for a while, since I might get one as well. I'm also wondering if you can overdub the looper? that would be cool :)
I still use my Boss GT1 and ME80 because they seem incredible pedalboards even after the years. It reminds me a lot because the GT1 style mechanism seems quite simple but improved in every way. The patches you bring if they are valid. Hopefully bring one from G. Moore. Good price too.
I have a boss ME-80 and its super easy to use, cool effects and all but the distortion sucks ass. If you have any tips on how to make it sound better I would appreciate it
@@seegui1971just add a ProCo Rat and TS808 and you're goid to go 😂. The ME-80 distortion just cant go in full since the processing of the pedal is not high end compared to a GT-100 which sounds fuller IMO
I've had the GP100 for a couple years now and was looking to upgrade a bit. This seems like a natural way to go.
I can't see the difference part from the size and more buttons, but I can't see a different on the specs comparing the two
as a harmonica player im really looking foward to try this in a future i was going to get an audio interface for my harp blaster and ive wanted pedal and uve stumbuled around this and now that i see you guys use it i want it i could add external harmonicas pedal but i dont need too with this i could make my own pedals nice
Love the riff at the start of video
That intro was Extreme-ly good! Thanks
What song is it?
I'm impressed by "Digital" John. Hope to see him on more vids :)
Don't forget for the overhead cam: autofocus off, focus manually on the product, set and leave.
I can tell this is a killer effects unit might take a little ingenuity to figure out the parameters but it sounds like you might get stuck on a couple and just leave it there for who knows quite a while because of the sound it's putting out and you don't want to lose it when you start tripping it out yeah I can see this processor doing some interesting damage for sure
Totally amazing machine for this price!
I have the smaller gp-100. The amps and dirt sound great. With the same IR, they sound just as good as my helix. The modulation, delay and reverbs don’t sound as good as helix but still absolutely serviceable.
Totally agree. Totally gigable. Especially with custom IRs. Picked it up from Amazon US for 107 usd. For 107 usd it’s a steal.
I like it all, except the IR's I dont get. All the included cabs and mic options, I don't see much difference with downloading more IR's. And the idea of paying for them, paying for a setting, instead of actual content, seems like a jip off.
I have the GP-100 as well that I got mainly to having something small to take along for business travel. I like it except that the grouping of some effects, notably compressors and wahs together, aren't great and the EQ section isn't that useful.
@@blastofo There are a whole stack of IRs available to download for free from various places on the web. You can also make your own.
Useful backup for Helix maybe?
I've been playing through an Ampero for the last few years and absolutely love it. No effects loop, but I really don't need that, as the onboard sounds do pretty much everything I generally need to do. The midi implementation is a little weird, but it does work. And it all fits in my gig bag. I either plug directly into a PA or into an FRFR powered speaker. People are amazed at how good this sounds through a PA.
I see that I can buy this Valeton unit for $314 in the USA. At that price, I think I'll pick this up as a 'backup device'.
I think this unit is ultra cool. Sounds awesome, IMO, and would be loads of fun. I have a Boss GT-1 and I like it; But I've been looking at this one, and the Mooer equivalent. The 200 I think. It's absolutely amazing to me what you can get these days for $150 - $300 bucks. Just crazy, and these units are so fun to mess around with.
Jimmy I was looking at these a while ago and if I recall, there is no assign function on this which is why I don't own it. Funny enough, I got a gt1 for €120 second hand here in Ireland and it's enough for now, might get an extra footswitch though
@@padawan9127 Hi, I'm also using the Boss GT-1 from the last 5 years, but currently I am facing some issues regarding the display, It's not working properly showing "System error" (2,1). Don't know why it's happening? Have you any Idea?
@@arghyabakshi85 hi, can't say I do. I actually sold my gt1 a few months back and never had this issue. Best of luck sorting it out
Amazing sound and price thanks guy good video.
Just that you get full sizeMIDI IN and OUT at this price point is amazing.
Specially the midi-out, which means you can use it to control plug-ins in a DAW. You just need the right cable.
John's playing is so precise. Very jealous.
Love your channel! The Gaptain, Danish Pete and Digital John! What a blast!
Even have a guitar called Danish Pete... And that is a big thing when you are a swede!
Just so you known, swedes and danish people aren't best of freinds...
The digital John thing cracks me up every time 🤣
wow, this seems pretty legit for the price, I might have to get one of these!
Digi-John can shred yo
I want this multi-fx, thanks for the review.
Really cool and for the money this things great.
Now I know what clean fuzz sounds like. I have had two fuzz pedals in my in my life time and never found clean fuzz.
Maybe never never looked for it. Now I am going to look for it on My JHS series 3 pedal.
*I've been through countless test videos and returned a $600 touch screen does it all disaster all the reviews worshiped from whatever other brand at the time. This is the best sounding unit I have heard and I'm not a fan of monstrous floor units. I own one, it's spectacular but a nightmare to program by hand vs USB, and I bought it at 50% off so I couldn't pass it up.*
The "budget" level models with an expression pedal are more than enough considering how much gear most of us already own.
I play 2-hand touch, instrumentals and am a shredder.
*I also have a formal education in subatomic physics and engineering, aka electrical/electronics engineering lol.*
My standards are far above elite and gear snob lol.
It's childish....but that "Digital John" .makes me laugh out loud everytime. .good show 😂
Me too. Hilarious
That intro basically sold me on this thing
that sounded fun to play
Just got one off eBay, something that some might find handy to know.
The aux-in presents as USB inputs 3 and 4 in your DAW (I use LoopyPro on ipad) so I can easily incorporate hardware synth very easily (I don’t think you can use Valeton effects on USB) but no biggy as ipad world is AUV3 rush 😀. Also you have USB 5 and 6 that provide loop back for more audio fiddling with sources on ipad.
iPad plugged via usbc (yay) to Valeton and then in to the return of my Vox AV30 I have managed to get rid of a lot of kit and am very happy with result..
Hello dear Captain, I've been plugging these amp sim pedals into my tube amp to try to make it sound like a Fendery type. I plug into my fx loop send/return to keep my preamp tubes and mix it with the digital sim. Could you do a comparison between multi-effects units like this? Thx!
I’m happy with my gt-100!
Looks and sounds like a great starter unit! I would have loved this back at the beginning!
Starter lmao... Sounds as good as any stupid expensive modeler.
I just got one of these, given to me to review. I would put it up against the HeadRush MX5 that I own any day of the week. The HeadRush isn’t bad, but requires a lot of tweaking to get it to sound good. The presets it ships with are all pretty much deletable garbage. You can play the Valeton GP-200 straight out of the box and find usable presets straight away. For around $250, the Valeton just has so many positives. I thought I would like the touchscreen on the MX5, but it sucks having to dig around to find the most used settings, whereas on the GP-200, they are knobs right on the front! Actual, full sized Balanced XLR’s on board, A modern USB-C port rather than the silly USB-B connector from 20 years ago… And on and on. I had written the thing off without ever trying it because I thought it was too cheap to be worth my time, but holy-cow is this thing an amazing bargain! I think they set the price way too low for all that you get. I want to see these folks put out a high-end, top of the line model, because if this is any indication of what can be done in DSP these days, it would have to be freaking amazing!
finally valeton reviews @andertons.. hahaha
What a great Multi FX Pedal and extensive review. You guys ever try the NUX MG 30? It's in a similar price range. I think it's actually cheaper but it sounds awesome. it does take some tweaking to get the best out of it though. It would be so cool if you guys tried it out and reviewed it.
the price seems really good for someone like me, im so novice to these, I own a Boss GT-8 but this is damn great!
Finally' Affordability made right! Sweet' plus future updates, if they sell good?!🤞 better stock up' 🎸🎼✌️🇬🇧🇺🇸
Lee is F'ing hilarious. Very fun to watch on these videos. Should do stand up as a side job
My word I wish this existed way back when I was a student.
I think the Boss GT1000 Core is biggest bang for the buck in multi pedals... Picked mine up new on Amazon for $450... No beating that price for what's crammed into it...
I just bought one of these and really like it. Very versatile - lots to like with this pedal. I like it in the video around 5:45, they are mucking around with the reverb and it sounds completely dry. Because they have the reverb off - they casually turn it on at 5:51... oops. LOL.
*DIGITAL JOHN* *insert meme*
Always my favorite part of these digital videos. 😂
looks cool
Im very tempted to get this one.. I own the headrush pedal board.. I wont mind having this one too
Also can stack effects to do things you would need multiple pedals to do, eg two reverbs on two different delays, maybe in two different channels
This video and Paul Bond's 6 mo follow-up review made me pull the trigger. Have an old Digitech GNX3000 which has been great but so much to love about this modern modelling and multieffects pedal. At this price point it is simply too good for me to pass up.
Wow.... Great device
Looks great for counting.
The Boss ME-90 can be used with batteries which makes it more versatile for gigs with no power outlets.
Basically a jam on Wicked Stone by Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. Nice
John seems tired, but lovely as usual,a star ⭐️
Chips are hard to come by the coming years or two... prices anything with a chip will go up. Good moment in time to buy this great sounding multi fx
Damn... I've been looking for something just like this. Sometimes I love the digital world. I have a Fender Mustang lt50 and it's a great amp with some excellent features... but this thing is crazy for that price
Despite there being about 20 years age difference between Captain Lee, Danish Pete and my own age compared to Digital John, farts are and will always be universally funny!! #MrBrown
Nice Playing Digital !
A pretty cool package. I don't mind at all that there is no touchscreen on board. Somehow you have to achieve the low price and the operation looks very intuitive without it. Btw: As for the "I don't know which effect is on which switch" thing. I'm pretty sure you can name CTRL1 to 4 for each patch, so you see the names in the main patch screen. Can anyone clear this up who already has this unit? I'm currently using a Boss GT1 and although I'm happy with it, I can't shake the feeling that it sounds a bit muddy at times and lacks brilliance in the higher tones, if that makes sense. If anyone has been able to compare the two, I'd love to hear your thoughts on possibly switching to this one. Cheers!
Currently own the gt1 myself and my ears have improved enough that even i feel like it can get muddy at times too, would love to know of any other multi fx procs you purchased since then that's been better!!! Higher price range than the GT would be cool too
@@guyguy8809 I switched to the MG 30 by NUX. I absolutely love the unit and it's ridiculous what you get for your bucks. They also just released a new firmware that improves the unit again. It's worth taking a look. Just make sure you watch recent videos cause they really updated the thing over time. Maybe it's to your liking.
I love my GP-200 for the variety of sounds it offers and pro features like midi in and out. It's looper and drums are meh, but I'm spoiled by my Singular Sound Beat Buddy and Aeros looper, which I use to sync the GP-200s delay effects. Wish I could stack multiple delays and overdrives etc, but overall it's a winner. Still sufferes from what all digital approaches do - namely, so many options that you risk tweaking/geeking-out all day instead of practicing and playing.
The modeling is really good to my ear, and has helped me refine and add variety to my sound that's simply not possible using a tradional amp, pedal and cab set-up. I busk, so it's compactness and portability and feature set are awesome. So is it's price.
Does the looper work ok? If you make a mistake you can delete that layer instead of full thing?
@@dazscrivo All loopers are unforgiving of mistakes. Especially in timing. Even the areos, which can quantize minor glitches. The problem with them is that they don't care about your ego or feelings. They don't make mistakes either. They just play yours back to you and the audience until you stop them and start over.
All loopers I've used, and I've used at least 10 over the years, allow you to build and delete layers / overdubs. The problem is that this function only goes one overdub deep before deleting the whole track. It's like only being able to go back one step.
The problem isn't with getting overdubs right. The main problem is getting the intial loop tight. Overdubs are not as critical to stop and start perfectly. The aeros is multi-track and multi-part with a visual display for tracking, and midi clock and command integration to sync-up with the Beat Buddy. The Beat buddy in turn sounds AWESOME, and can be used as the master clock for both the aeros loop studio and my TC Triple delay. This means my delay effects are always in sync with whatever tempo is selected on the beat buddy / aeros.
In short, it's far from simple, and it's taken me years to get reasonably comfortable performing with a looper. Building a looping rig is like building a custom instrument you operate with your feet. One that's computer synchronized and intehrated with your guitar and drum effect signals. I use a mini tascam recorder to mix everything, and it's all output in stereo to my Bose S-1 PA speakers. The rig cost me thousands of dollars to build, mainly because of years of failed experiemnets trying to get the exact sound and workflow I wanted. It's a huge undertaking - at least it was for me.
My advice is to start with something simple and cheap, like the $50 "Lekato" looper on Amazon and see if you have what it takes (patience) to learn how to loop simple single part songs like "Knocking on Heaven's Door" that just repeat the same simple open chords throughout the song.
Once you master that, get yourself a more expensive double or triple button unit that offeres a SINGLE button STOP so you don't have to double tap when trying to stop the thing perfectly on the beat. I was never able to master that skill, and I'm pretty good at that sort of thing. Drums are another layer to work in - some loopers have built in drum machines, but I didn't care for any of them personally for performing. OK for practice though. Beware: Every BOSS looper short of their massive 5 or whatever channel looper board require DOUBLE TAPPING to stop. This makes them USELESS as perfomance tools.
At least for me.
Again, looping is HARD. It's not like buying a cool distortion pedal or boutique amp and suddlenly you sound like the God Thor when you play a power chord. It's time consuming (years in my case) and frustrating, especially for the first month or two until you start getting the timing right.
It will make you a MUCH better muscian if you stick with it, and get good at it.
Much better
I'm starting to do videos of my pedal board and how it works. Subscribe to my channel and hit the notification bell etc and hopefully something I post soon will help you out....
I know it's only going to cost a couple of fish maybe medium big fish of course or something close to it but man I'd give that up in a heartbeat for sure
Sounds pretty good. I feel like the gain patches have too much gain on them. I haven’t heard too many great low gain settings.
This also has some bass effects/amps built in, if you want to scratch a bassy (bassie??) itch
Thank you guys but I’m having trouble, would you recommend this or the Zoom 1010
PODHD500X has an elevated rear row of switches for that 'no-accidental' purpose. That unit sounds great though.
I'd love to see a demo of the GP-200 with an acoustic setup? I love Andertons videos but they do neglect us acoustic guys!
I am also wondering whether I should go for the helix stomp xl or this one has a reliable acoustic effect too.
I think one thing that makes this little unit coolest that you can get a bunch of different variables with the drums which most of the kind of lesser valued units that might be worthwhile because then you can set different tempos and such and kind of get a better use for jamming in your room without tracking here but it with the drum set into your bedroom which never would happen unless you got a big bedroom of course and nobody gives a flute getting loud without the cops banging on your door oh yeah
Great Video!! Do you know if the CTRL button can be set to turn on/off an effect like delay? thanks!!
Would you recommend this over the MX-5? Money no object, is there that much of a material difference for a non-giggling/recording player between something like this/MX-5 against spending 3-4 times as much on an AX8/Helix/used Axe FXII?
Hi, I have question for GP200 How you can turn wah on/off? Can I activate wah by move exp pedal forward and deactivate it with assigned switch?
Any era is a good era for blues!
@ 0:48 i really think jon should've said "digital, cos I dig it all!" 🤪
I’m new to the modeling pedals. Could this pedal be used in a live settling or is it just for recording and practice??
