INGREDIENTS:
Strawberry Cake:
1 box strawberry cake mix
3 large eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup milk
Milk mixture:
1 cup strawberries
1 cup milk
1 can evaporated milk
1 can condensed milk
Strawberry Crunch Topping
20 golden oreos
1 tbsp strawberry jello powder
1/4 melted butter
Whipped Cream:
1 pint heavy whipping cream
3 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
This reminds me of those Strawberry Ice Creams from the Ice Cream trucks back in the day.

I used half and half instead of milk and added about a tablespoon of nestle strawberry powder to the milk. This was so good.
Does the half n half make it creamier?
I bet it’s even better with strawberry slices on top of cream

Tip for those who try this. Add half a teaspoon of cream tartar and add another tablespoon of sugar to help thicken the whipped cream. If not it’ll take forever to peak.
Where are you adding the cream of tartar??
How fast should you mix the whip ?
@@abrahamcarranza47 start out slow then speed up as desired. Go until it’s thick.
Just put it in a blender it’s done in 5 seconds
Or you can simply do 1 cup of powdered sugar to 1/2 cup of heavy white cream 2teaspoons of vanilla 3-5 minutes mix

Made this and my family loved it!
I would just change the preparation of the crunch since I don't eat gelatin (pork). Freeze dried strawberries w/crushed vanilla oreos or shortbread cookies, blend with melted butter 😋

question - when you crush and add the Jello mixture together with the melted butter do you cook it in the oven or after you combine those three things you spread on top of the whip?

What would you use is you wanted to make a chocolate crunch instead of golden Oreos and strawberry jello?
They have oreo mix pudding i would sub that being that its soley for flavor

Instead of gelatin have you ever tried it with strawberry nesquick ? I want to see if I can substitute it with that
No, I haven't but I think it could work.
i don’t eat pork bc im Muslim, and yesss Nequik works so good. And if I really want that bright pink color, then I get jello from the arabic store where it has plant based or beef gelatin rather than pork.

Ahhhhh! I didn’t go back to re-watch before I started and followed the cake mix to instructions (water instead of milk). Should be okay right? 😂😂😂🤦🏻♀️

I let it cool off while I make the milk mixture and whipped cream.
On the cookies are we removing the icing?
No, I keep the icing but you can remove it if you prefer.

Hello! Looks great. Do I have to wait for the cake to cook before putting the condensed milk mixture ? Because I tried attempting something similar and I’m not sure why or how it happened but it tasted like spoiled cheese. Any tips ?

I’m not understanding something I smashed 20 cookies added the tbsp of jello and added 1/4 cup of butter but when I stirred it together it was all clumped up and wet instead of dry and flaky so what could I of possibly done wrong
Yes the butter was melted
You needed more dry, so maybe more cookies!
Can we use avocado or olive oil?
I would recommend avocado oil over olive oil when baking because it has more neutral flavor.
@@RoseAustinCooks Yes. Olive oil is too......rich? In flavor? Like you can taste that savory Olive 🫒 flavor. Whereas avocado 🥑 can be used to make chocolate mousse.

The avocado oil I've used has a much stronger flavor than most olive oils I've had. Weird. I guess it must just be a one off thing then?

I haven’t tried it with frozen strawberries, but I think it should be ok.

Agreed. I let it sit and eventually let the rest run off
Same here. Just poured it and thought no way all that is going to soak up.
I let it sit for at least for at least an hour and I was able to pour all the mixture in.
The recipe doesn’t say what size can of evaporated milk … I just used a 12oz and feel like it’s way too much. I might not pour it all in there. I bet it should be a 5oz can

I made it but the condense milk with the strawberries etc was too liquid must of did something wrong lol
Did you wait for the cake to cool before adding liquid. I hear if it is hot it turns mushy. Hope that helps. IDK?
