The thing I dislike most about the game is that if computer opponents are far enough offscreen, they skip certain damage animations. I've actually hit a red shell against an opponent just far enough in front of me, they visibly stopped, and then immediately got going again, without going through the seconds-long damage animation.
Too right! And if they get too far ahead, their character disappears from the screen presumably to save memory and they literally cheat to their heart’s content (driving at max speed, cutting corners, etc.-there’s a vid here on the ‘Tube proving it)
Draygone Fuzzbottom Jr same with behind you. They still stop completely from bananas unlike us, and they will tumble if the get hit with a green shell, but a red shell or a fake block they just stop and get going again.
That's actually why the blue shell is even a thing. If a player in first place gets too far ahead the track will start unloading for the other players so a random computer player will spawn a blu shell to prevent sections of the track unloading while somebody is at that segment

@@battyflaps5410 just tapping the brakes during that wobbling achieves it. I was partly a god amongst friends figuring out that, the drift boost and quick acceleration after a hit and was so grateful it was possible.
I think the reason everyone remembers Mario Kart 64 so fondly is because Double Dash exists. Double dash is a great game but it's very different from the other Mario Kart games, so if you wanted a fully 3D Mario Kart game that was also more vanilla like 64 you'd have to wait for Mario kart DS to come out in 2005. Nine years after 64 came out! So everyone who wanted a more vanilla experience played 64 until that point.
Yes that happens a lot. If something is a rare experience it gets remembered more fondly. Double Dash and Sunshine and the Gamecube's games in general are remembered fondly since they stand out in Nintendo's games. Which is why NSMB is not as fondly remembered as it was when it released since many games after it felt the same game at it's core.
Love how even they acknowledged how long N64 Rainbow Road is by putting it as a track in F-Zero X where you can clear a lap under one minute, and in Mario Kart 8 where they cut it into three separate phases in one lap.
3:22 I would've Scott, Kamek is my favourite Mario character of all time, and I am disappointed that he was removed. I'm glad that he's finally playable in Mario Kart Tour edit: and now he's finally in a mainline mario kart game, (i don't count tour personally) the world is at peace once again
BMJT I’m inclined to agree. The controls are way better for dkr, race track designs are far superior, and I don’t have to look at the jpeg Of Mario’s head
When Daisy would hit Minnie with a weapon, driving past she would say "Sorry girl!" Loved it. Also, Timber's harmonica-styled theme is the best thing out of any racing game.
Mickey Speedway USA's controls really sucked, Mario Kart 64 felt like driving on heaven by comparison. Surprisingly, Mickey Speedway has arguably the superior soundtrack, but nobody has ever listened to it... As for DKR, it was an "once in a lifetime" adventure, like, once you beat Space Wizpig and unlocked TT in all the tracks, there's just no reason to play it anymore. But I just know that one day, I'll play Mario Kart 64 again, it'll just happen.
@@Yntec Dude if you don't like it feel free to move along. I prefer these other games over Mario 64. They have story, unlockables, multiple ways of gameplay etc. I prefer Mario Kart Wii over 64.

@@battyflaps5410 just tapping the brakes during that wobbling achieves it. I was partly a god amongst friends figuring out that, the drift boost and quick acceleration after a hit and was so grateful it was possible.
Something I just realized is at 8:40 you can see him instinctively try to trick but since MK64 doesn't have tricking, he just does a hop
3:14 this aged well
Battle had the best feature ever: being a mobile bomb! 💣♿💥
Beating 150cc should unlock all 50cc and 100cc maps.
corkis84 that's actually a good idea

@@nptgame-r9628 no its not, its a finger pointing up, it isnt a middle finger
50cc and 100cc are for less experienced players no whoosh tho
To this day I don't know what this "cc" stuff even is and I'm kind of proud of it.
Double Dash is much better.
I’ve played this game!

6:34 Is no one gonna talk about him pulling the shock in second place?
Literally
Guys, I think he's going in order of Mario Kart Releases.
So that would mean Super Circuit will be the next Mario Kart video he does.
I think we all got that
When he gets to Wii he’s either gonna say he loves it or gets ripped to shreds by every 2000s kid.
He also did something very similar for Sonic, but has yet to do Sonic 3 & Knuckles...
Bramble Don't forget Smash bros.
@@golarstarborn That is true, he has went through all of them except for Smash Ultimate
3:18 [Kamek:I lived Scott.]
3:08 He got another chance in Mario Kart Tour.
I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
To me, it's a good thing because he is now finally in a Mario Kart game, but the fact that he's in Tour is really annoying
@@carty7681Well now Kamek will be in 8 Deluxe as part of the Wave 5 DLC

Scott he's just getting away from the IRA
Love how even they acknowledged how long N64 Rainbow Road is by putting it as a track in F-Zero X where you can clear a lap under one minute, and in Mario Kart 8 where they cut it into three separate phases in one lap.
Rainbow Road is in F Zero X???

Diddy Kong Racing has aged far better, and I always thought it was the better game by a mile.
BMJT I’m inclined to agree. The controls are way better for dkr, race track designs are far superior, and I don’t have to look at the jpeg Of Mario’s head
Facts, not opinions! 😃
Opinion, NOT facts!!!!! In MY OPINION MK64 is the better game.
Kieran Stark no these are definitely opinions
Diddy Kong is a better single player game, Mario Kart is a better multiplayer game. That's it.
No nintendo console owner buys mariokart, it just appears in their collection.

Mario Kart Tour in 2021: Alright, lemme change that real quick.
“Well you’ve aged too, how does that feel”
C’mon man I just recently turned 20
Fun Game but I liked Diddy Kong Racing more.
I also liked Mickey Speedway USA.
The sad part is, that Crash Team Racing score higher than Mario Kart 64
PS, Mario Kart 9 better have a campaign that's just as good if not better than Mission Mode
@Yntec
Um. I think you got them switched around. Mario Kart 64 controlled like shit whilst Mickey's Speedway USA had tight as hell controls. I smell nostalgia.
