I saw a man the other day who had upper lip lines, so I think some can get them. I also have been deliberately looking at all men’s necks. Their necks seem to wrinkle & sag just as much as everyone else’s do. We sometimes don’t notice because they have them covered up with a shirt & tie. Personally nowadays I think women are aging much better than men.
I am 79 years old and have never smoked in my life, but I began getting a mouth that looks like a drawstring purse in my 70s. I probably spoke more than 20,000 words. Every job I had was customer service and I spent hours on the phone.
I've been dermaplaning and microneedling for years 🙌 What I would REALLY love to learn is how to prevent skin from sagging or even more..the facial muscles from sagging. I think that shows age way more than wrinkles...sagging skin.
@@amd8095 People think their hair grows back thicker, meaning each hair is thicker, because when you shave a hair and it pops through the skin, it's blunt on the end. Hairs are typically pointed, so a blunted end feels very different until you get used to the process. You'll love how your skincare applies and absorbs into your skin. I find less is needed. Also, foundation and other cream products look lovely. What's the worse that can happen? You don't like it and you let your face get hairy again.
I have started seeing adds for more and more "at home" products, I'd love to see your take on them (especially what you'd say are the dangers of them). Like at home lasers like Nira (I'm sure there are others, just mentioning the brand to be specific of what type of product i mean), microcurrent devices like Foreo etc. I see them pushed a lot by influencers, kinda like dermarollers a few years ago, and I'm kinda curious on your take.
Genius! thank you so much! I did a 'lip flip' w/ botox (dermatologist) and I'm going to ask her about the tiny bit of botox to put in my upper lip -- one line, really. At 67, and southern calif. living all my life, I'm lucky to have a little as i do.
It doesn't help in my opinion. I'm 57 and my "smokers lines" are really deep. It's the first thing my eyes go to when I look in the mirror. I just hate them! Unfortunately, not only do I have the smokers lines, I also have dark hairs that grow around my upper lip. Ive been shaving my upper lip for about 5 yrs now and it hasn't helped my lines at all..
Please talk about non invasive upper blepharoplasty ❤️ I hate no lomger being able to do a winged liner because of the droop Ive gotten but I feel too young and not ready to have surgery. However I don’t know if it can be treated with laser or whatever.
I am 41 and just starting on Retin-A. Excited! I've used Differin for about 8 months, and before that, a couple of years of The Ordinary retinol - all with really good results. These more intense interventions like deep peels etc kind of scare me, though. I heard someone say they used a dual fraxel laser and it made their skin sag, and it's never recovered. I worry about this type of thing. OTOH, I've heard that hormone replacement therapy for post-menopausal women keeps the collagen quite intact and skin from sagging. This supposedly comes with risks of cancer, ahh - but what I heard is that in fact the risks are overstated and are not really that bad (provided it's started early enough). I am not at the stage of requiring this yet, but I will be looking into it more. Until then, I am very happy with my retinoic acid and my Vitamin C cream from Derma-E, which always brightens up my skin. Thanks for your videos! 💐😊
Thank you so much for this EXCELLENT explanation! Unfortunately women's face and neck skin wrinkles much worse than men for many reasons. Genetics plays a big role. All we can do is try to prevent and diminish these wrinkles. Nothing will return our 20 yr old skin but we can improve the look of our skin by following this great advice. Thanks again!!!

I have Ehlers-Danlos so the collagen my body produces is faulty. No matter how much collagen I produce it is always going to be faulty. So I looked younger than my years for most of my life, and still do actually. At 60 I still get mistaken for 45 unless people look closely, and I have almost NO grey or white hair! However, when the collagen breaks down it actually looks like a break or scar in my skin!

The real reason for lip lines is probably that men have thicker skin than women, not just on the face but on the hands and arms as well. It's nothing to do with talking or hairy faces, in my opinion. Also hormones possibly play a role in thinning skin.
Absolutely! The skin on a whole man's body ages slower than a women's. We shave our legs but our leg skin ages faster than a man who doesn't shave his legs. All Doctors I have seen in the past have treated it as cold sores and I’ve recently found out due to Dr Google that it’s actinic cheilitis. Thank you
Personally I don’t think so as I’ve been doing it for 43 years and don’t really have them. I think it’s mostly genetic. I was told by a skin doctor that basically we grow to get similar wrinkling to our parents. Didn’t make me feel too happy but hey!
@@tracik1277 I will most likely get marionette lines but no upper lip wrinkles (looking at my family). I'm 28 and my skin is pretty good in general (if I say so myself) but I'm seeing what seems to be the start of marionette lines. 🙄
Another simple reason people can get upper lip lines is from sleeping on our sides or on the stomachs. It creases the skin every night for hours. Heredity really has a lot to do with it too. Vitamins do help. I used mango butter on my face because the molecules are too large to plug up pores. Most people think I look 10-15 years younger than my age. Also scowling is something I avoid as well. Not wearing sunglasses causes people too squint or not wearing your prescription glasses and mire squinting. Not drinking enough water also causes wrinkles. I also rinse my face with water a few times a day & let it air dry. Rarely wear makeup as it can age women just by putting too much on.
Thank you - very informative. A question - when I shave my face I use a rotary instrument (Finishing Touch). Does this have the same derma planing effect as using a razor blade? It seems like it wouldn't.
I've found shaving is just as good and less expensive than buying the one touch device and replacement blades. The end results are the same imo. An over the counter retinoid (such as Differin) or Tretinoin (dr prescription) work to stimulate collagen along with Vit C and Niaminicides.

It's not the makeup itself that ages, but the poor or overdone application of it.

I don’t think it does… I’d guess it’s because it doesn’t scrape the skin
You will be strapped to all this forever.
If shaving helps.. then should us women to start "shaving" too? Just to keep the collagen production going?
If you want the collagen production going you need lot of vitamin C.

It does not cause more or thicker hair. If that were true, I would have a full beard and mustache from shaving several times per week.
shaving does not cause your hair to thicken. It just cuts it off with a blunt edge instead of a tapered uncut hair so it doesn't feel as smooth.
